Problem is that he did not asked for permission to use SRO' date=' and i don't like that. Also i have stated from the first day of my mod that one must ask me for permission to use it for any kind of modification. This is in the Nexus "Permissions and Credits" section. These are my rules. Period. [/quote']

So now people need permission to LIST your mod in a guide or compilation? Oh wow. I'm speechless.

As to the rest, and your drama, seriously, grow up.

But yet Someone is all butt hurt just cuz Cestral is useing certain mod in his combiner and is hidding it till he removes it.This guy has his head so far up his A** and riding up way to high on his high horse. For One Cestral is not even breaking any rules. The was this certain modder sees it its eather use all his textures or use none at all thinking his is the best EVER' date=' And also saying that Cestral hasen't given credit but he has mentioned his name in the dscription. And also Cestral isen't takeing any credit for making any of these mods. He is just making the modding of skyrim easier and doing what almost everybody does anyways just he is removing the pain in the butt steps of finding combatitiblty and looks and a bunch of other things. He is just making it so people can get in to the game ASAP ensted of having to test each mod with each other which could take day. weeks maybe even months depending on how dedicated a certain user is to get the best looking game Really Modder you need to get off your high horse. Your the only one that has come to Cestral and whined and complained that someone is KINDA useing (and i'm useing the word useing very lightly) a mod. [b']I also remember this certain modder whined and complained everytime someone said they liked or used a different mod over his. He gets all butt hurt or complains everytime someone saying anything about his mod that isen't positive.[/b]

First this bolded part is not true.

Now you should not believe everything that Cestral said. Problem is that he did not asked for permission to use SRO, and i don't like that. Also i have stated from the first day of my mod that one must ask me for permission to use it for any kind of modification. This is in the Nexus "Permissions and Credits" section. These are my rules. Even The Compiler didn't ask for permission, but i have overlooked that. There was also dude who merged my mod with some anime BS. That didn't last long. I don't want to see my mod merged with some nonsense!

And Cestral doesn't have any principles! No wonder that the closest people have left him.

I just cannot comment this, it is clear that there's a huge misunderstanding in the difference between "pointing to a mod" and "stealing mods assets".

If you really think that i needed any permission to write about SRO in STEP, you have no idea of what permission rules are.

These are my permissions and rules. And it is my mod.

And you do know that SRO is the part of the Cestrals batch file.

Now he pissed me off many times so i'm not gonna allow him to have any connection with my mod. I will definitely remove it if he continues.

He didn't "use" your mod. All he did was ask people to download it and provided an application to organise it. TCP merely makes what we were already doing simpler. I simply cannot think of another explanation for you having a problem with what is essentially a sorting program other than the fact that you do not like that in certain cases it favours the work of others over yours. Nobody here is going to tell you that your work is not great. But they will also not tell you that it is perfect. But the same holds true for the other major texture packages. Some files in one may be better than those in another but the other has files preferable over the first.

Cestral did nothing wrong. None of your assets were used. In fact, not only did he give full credit in an instance where he needed only to provide a link, he also asks everyone to endorse the packages that TCP covers. He did more than he needed to in support of the authors. He includes none of their work. TCP is nothing more than a few lines of code and some file names.

Are you really going to tell us that recommending work that one enjoys to others is wrong?

Modding is about making Skyrim the best it can be. Are you going to tell us we are not allowed to want that?

How is it wrong to find a simpler way to do that? Nothing was stolen. He provided a link. He gave full credits and praises to all the mods authors. He even encourages users to endorse the works they use. He has gone above and beyond what he needed to do.

Now, I'm not going to try and ask you to restore SRO. As I cannot see that happening as long as you hold this attitude. And frankly, I think it's for the best. The modding community could do without such personalities. Just know that as long as SRO is online (Nexus or otherwise), and people use it they will continue to replace elements of it with ones they find more appealing to them. Whether they do it manually or with a utility such as TCP. It is the very nature of modding, after all.

As for STEP. TheComplier did nothing more than recommend your mod to others. I do hope you call a restaurants head chef before you tell your friends they should go there for lunch.

EDIT: Just thought I'd address your latest post as I didn't see the need to double post.

And you do know that SRO is the part of the Cestrals batch file.

He included file names. Which if I'm not mistaken are the ones Bethesda created. So you don't own. And used the term "SRO" a bunch of times. You're being melodramatic.

Some people really don't want to understand this! You can merge mods how you want in one big file, or create a batch that will do the same. The result is the same.

This is why i have stated that one cannot use my mod for any kind of modifications without my permission.

I think I understand it better than you realise. In fact, I'm sure most people do.

The two things you mentioned are not really the same thing at all. One is stealing, the other isn't. To quote myself (it was added to the end of my last post after you responded):

He included file names. Which if I'm not mistaken are the ones Bethesda created. So you don't own. And used the term "SRO" a bunch of times. You're being melodramatic.

But from your current post, am I to gather that you believe people are not allowed to arrange files in a way that suits them? And in case I'm not clear, I mean for personal use, not to upload.

And if that is not what you imply, then what is wrong with having an automated way to do so?

If it is however, I'm sorry you feel this way. But you will have a hard time finding someone who genuinely agrees with you.

You can't tell people how to use your mod outside of using its assets in other mods or re-uploading it. Texture Pack Combiner is not using it as an asset. If you think that it is then you are wrong and you don't understand the policy.

There's a reason TPC hasn't been removed from the Nexus. It's because it isn't breaking any rules.

See that is where you're wrong.

To consider The TPC a Mod, would mean that it internally edits the files you edit. It doesn't, Since:

A.) It Merely Chooses while files NOT to use Thus not editing your work, internally.

B.) The File names belong to Bethesda anyway, which technically makes it a derivative work, so you don't own that either.

it simply chooses which texture you can use or not, It does not INTERNALLY Merge them, and thus does not modify any content.

Also I don't see why he can't do it when you purposely allow STEP to do it. The only difference between STEP and TPC is that TPC is a batch file, the goal, the TECHNIQUE, is all the same. To guide people to texture mods and MERGE MODS EXTERNALLY, and not modify the actual contents of the mod, which is completely Legal and up to the USER to do.

As in the user of the batch file. Which is nothing but a bunch of commands on a computer screen, the user's computer screen. See what you haven't read about the Nexus is that once the user has downloaded your file, Unless they INTERNALLY Modify or repost your content, they are FREE TO USE IT.

He's not literally going into your SRO files and drawing on it, he's Reccomending (Read: They don't have to do it.) Others to download your mods, and the program, instead of having them sift through texture files MANUALLY, has it automatically Organized and moved around with. Which again, is completely up to the USER how much of YOUR Files are used, not the batch file itself.

You're essentially say that the USER cannot use the files they downloaded, that YOU made Public, how they want, nor can they choose to merge it with other mods.

Also I like how you assumed that people are angry at Cestral. The Problem is, nobody is angry at Cestral, His Endorsement rating on the Nexus is exactly the same as it always was, and nobody has called him out in his comment box.

Seriously, if your goal was to get his peers angry by doing this stunt instead of taking this to the Nexus Admins like a Mature adult, you have ALOT of Growing up to do buddy.

EDIT: And Now people have to actually DONATE to you to get updates?

Pfff, good luck with that ******.

SRO is now reported as "Under Moderation" and Starac has been banned for requiring money.

Link

I was going to respond to Starac's posts but I'm a little overwhelmed by the irony and karma.  Unfortunately you've got to consider the possibility that he did this on purpose.  Surely he knows the rules, so he might be looking for a excuse in order to get the mod taken down without it being "entirely his fault" (even though it is).  And then comes the possibility that this whole ordeal was over donations in the first place; if he felt people were donating to Cestral and not bothering to endorse/donate to the individual authors I can see being mad about that.

I called it, and knew this was going to happen, hell when you set up a Donation box, It's right there in black and white Don't ask for money.

Oh, I thought you called that he was going to require donation, not that he'd get banned for it, that's obvious.
