MannyGT Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Hi there :)There is another mod by me: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/55607 A books store and it's lore friendly. Good day! ps: Yes, I said that I was retired from modding. Please read the description on my mod. Thanks :D 2
DoubleYou Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Funny that you would name it so similar to another well-known mod.
MannyGT Posted July 5, 2014 Author Posted July 5, 2014 I made several mod with names ending with "... of Skyrim" :)
DanielCoffey Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 (edited) I have had a good look at the mod and it works really well. It is beautifully integrated into Solitude, fits the street outside and is very tastefully cluttered. It is compatible with Book Covers Skyrim and will pick its books correctly from all the LItemBooks01All to LItemBooks04All and LItemBooksClutter lists. In my opinion, the absolute best part of this mod is that it displays the vendor stock around on the real shelves and book cases... this means that as the stock changes, so does the appearance of the shop! There is no custom dialogue for the storekeeper or her daughter but as a book shop it is perfect. I have pointed out to Manny that the signpost outside appears incorrectly in my game under SR:LE and that there is a shrub growing through the steps but Manny is aware of the shrub and elected to keep it there. The vendor is triggering a greeting dialogue too frequently but that can probably be tweaked. It *really* fits the area and game well. EDIT : I will supply some screenshots later today. Nearox Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Nice work (as always) Manny! I think this would make a great addition to REGS :)
DanielCoffey Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 (edited) Here is a picture review of the Books of Skyrim shop in Solitude. All shots are taken with the SR:LE mod list and Vividian 6.001 Vivid ENB. In-game it was mid-morning on a bright, clear day. Inside I used a torch to show more detail in the pictures but the interior was perfectly navigable without one. As you can see, it fits well with the building style of Solitude... Once inside, the owner is present to greet you at the counter. Many of the items visible are available to browse or purchase. As the inventory changes, so does the appearance of the store. These are not static items - they are actual stock! Moving into the store you come across the small reading area near the fire where visitors can sit and discuss their purchase. Beyond that is a small kitchen and family dining area with storage under the stairs. Also under the stairs is a small domestic alchemy station that any careful mother would use to keep herself and her daughter healthy. Selling books is neither a glamorous nor high earning profession so the daughter's sleeping area is basic to say the least... Upstairs in the private family area, there are some hard-wearing and simple decorations. In a corner are some pieces of Imperial armour, no doubt treasured mementoes of a husband either away on duty in the service of the Emperor or more likely buried in a distant part of Skyrim. And just to prove that she doesn't keep her daughter in poverty while sleeping in luxury herself, the owner is frugal with her own living arrangements too... Edited July 5, 2014 by DanielCoffey 1
MannyGT Posted July 5, 2014 Author Posted July 5, 2014 Thank you very much for this great review :PI've just uploaded a new version v1.1. This will make better compatibility with SMIM mod and other similar things. The update is safe, just overwrite the old one. Also the image upload on the Nexus should be fine anyway. Thank you again. 1
DoubleYou Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Dynamic Inventory. Now that's a mod that really could be immersive. I've always been fond of some of these just random little buildings added that make complete sense, just like this one.
redirishlord Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Outstanding work, and thorough review with great screenshots, many thanks.
Kelmych Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Looks like a great addition. Oblivion had book stores in all the main cities, and they were part of various quests in the game. Hopefully adding this doesn't require changes in the REGS pack patches. Now if we can just get some woodworker's shops, since there is a lot of wood furniture and buildings in Skyrim, Skyrim might have a reasonably complete set of shops.
Nearox Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 (edited) Hopefully adding this doesn't require changes in the REGS pack patches. It does, the bookshop is in the same location as 2 of nernie's houses in Solitude (there are more houses of her mod inside Solitude but they don't conflict). Not sure how it works out if you remove Nernie's records of the 2 houses and keep mannygt's bookshop; I guess the navmesh combination won't work. Alternatively you could completely remove all of Nernie's Solitude worldspace stuff (not the docks houses) in tes5edit and simply use manny's bookshop. I do definitely prefer this mod for inner Solitude over nernie's work there. Edited July 6, 2014 by Nearox
Neovalen Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 This mod added to SR:LE it fits in beautifully. Excellent job.
MannyGT Posted July 6, 2014 Author Posted July 6, 2014 thanks people! :D thanks for all your support!
Guest Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 It looks lovely Manny. Very much so the little details that enhance the game. I would love you to make that manure mod I keep going on about. I'm sure you could do an awesome job.
