phryxolydian Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Insanity's Farmhouse Texture Replacer Textures are brand new high resolution textures (2048x2048), look different to the originals while keeping Skyrim's style/feel. Some comparison shots taken at Falkreath. Order is amiddianborn > Insanity's > Rustic Farmhouses > STEP > Vanilla
DoubleYou Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Marked for Testing.I think while we're on farmhouse textures, we should add this one to the mix.
EssArrBee Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 If these are 2k we might have to designate them for an extreme STEP. They are really nice. A bit on the freshly built side though.
phryxolydian Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 Well, the album's got 13 views so far but not a single comment has been made on these. I think it may be that some of us are too lazy even to click on a link. I personally like the wood very much but I'm not a fan of the thatch up-close, though if viewed from a distant, I think it creates a nice effect.. The stonewall is the biggest departure from Vanilla but perhaps we can keep SRO's stonewall? Still need to take some shots of the interiors..
TechAngel85 Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 The link is just very hard to compare one to one the way it is set up.
phryxolydian Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 How so? Isn't it a simple matter of opening each set of five images in a separate tab? Much better for looking at the details, too.
TechAngel85 Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 True, but that is the first time in nearly 2 years on this site that I've had to do a compare like that...just call me stubborn. LOL! Amb door just kills me! Why go through all that trouble of making good textures and then make the door look as if it is made out of plastic? This is still a compare that is going to have to be done in-game. I'll probably get to it Tuesday since that's my day off. EDIT:I still prefer Rustic in those images. Too many of the textures in Amb look too "new". Those ropes and roofs like like they're never seen any weather at all (as if they were hung and laid a few hours ago)...and that door... I didn't like Insanity in any of the shots.
Octopuss Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 (edited) I recently went through maybe five retextures of farmhouses (basically all I could find on Nexus), and ended up sticking with SRO. Starac has that rare gift of having an eye for aesthetics and skills with <whatever graphic editing software> both, which I appreciate more and more in an exponential way the more I browse mods on Nexus. With a few exceptions here and there, SRO just fits in the game 90% of the time. What's the point of super awesome 4k detailed textures when they look completely out of place and unnatural ingame... Edited June 1, 2014 by Octopuss
Guest Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Yeah not stuck on this one, can't put my finger on it, so it's probably what Octodad said. I agree with the above! Thatch looks tiled and the wood looks like it still has bark attached in some shots. Very odd.
Aiyen Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Want farmhouses done right.. you do them yourself! Well I did anyways hehe! :) It is just a tricky set of textures to work with.. since they are in rather diverse settings and making them match everything is rather difficult.
DoubleYou Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I'm not liking any one solution from them, and I really can't seem to find anything likable about Insanity's textures other than perhaps the door.
phryxolydian Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 There. I've rearranged the album for your viewing delight. Yes, the song remains the same. Well, after further viewing I have to agree that at least in this scenario, they don't fit anywhere near as nicely as either SRO, Rustic or Cabal's. But what attracted me most from his screens were the interiors. I'll probably post 'em up tomorrow.. or the day after.. actually, patience gentlemen, I am also testing krypto's mod atm. Please, if anybody here has even the sightless itching to take some shots yourself... I will not object.
TechAngel85 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Just ran around with this for a while. Ummm...absolutely not! Official vote: no. Moving on.
