What is this?

DynDOLOD is a set of tools based on TES5Edit and TES5LODGen to automatically create a Skyrim mod based on the load order which adds distant LOD for objects to Skyrim. By combining DynDOLOD with TES5LODGen users can create drastically enhanced traditional static LOD plus tree LOD and the new, optional dynamic distant object LOD in a few 'simple' steps.

DynDOLOD is meant for enthusiast modders who are familiar with using TES5Edit. Enthusiast modders have a general knowledge of computers, folders and files, especially Skyrims 'Data' folders and how to install mods safely with a manager or manually.

To fully expand the visual experience and use the additional features offered by TES5LODGen the DynDOLOD package comes with over 1000 new or updated LOD models for objects that were badly missing from the original game like the Skyhaven Temple or landscape features like roads, smaller rocks and dirt cliffs that simply make the distant landscape look much more natural and alive.

What does it do?

It makes Skyrim look like this

Thank you. ::):

Then I should be good to go with the 48 mb output file.

I do have the Comp file.

EDIT: Ahh, ok I did not have that line in Skyrim .ini.

I did not see it as a requirement.  Either I missed it or it had not been posted.

Thanks for the help.

Sorry, no. You'll have to reinstall DynDOLOD and regenerate it. You only need to reinstall to MO, not to the TES5Edit folder. For that just go into the TES5Edit folder and find the DynDOLOD\cache folder and delete the contents. Then redo the instructions. I added a bunch of new stuff for the TexGen so the LOD textures are extra awesome. It only takes an extra 10 minutes.

Excellent, will get on that right away. Thank you all.

Should we not use the Anthology thread for "STEP-related" purposes for DynDOLOD? This is the main thread and the one Sheson directs all of Nexus to. I don't really want to load it up with a bunch of posts only relating to STEP.

How do I changed the size of the lod files with texgen?

Change line #91 in DynDOLOD TexGen.pas

iAtlasSize = 256;

For me - (Apply Script done) Processed Record: 0, ElapsedTime: 07:47
And - 48.9 MB DynDOLOD Output folder size.

Now I do not see any ERRORs but I do get;

  Reveal hidden contents
TreeReachCliffTree01 [TREE:000B8A76] using LOD Textures\Terrain\LODGen\Skyrim.esm\ReachCliffTree01_000B8A76.dds
TreeReachTree02 [TREE:000B8A74] using LOD Textures\Terrain\LODGen\Skyrim.esm\ReachTree02_000B8A74.dds

So what have I done wrong to where I am not getting the results that STEP wiki says to expect?

EDIT: Complete failure on the spoiler tag, sorry.
EDIT 2: Forgot to mention Vanilla Skyrim LOD Billbords placed under UHRP.

Messages about missing files for shrubs, fern, bushes etc. are normal. It only generates billboard LOD for trees.

Output size seems too small, but I think that was addressed by the other posts.

I'm having a problem with DynDOLOD. When I try to create textures, xEdit gives this error:

https://i.imgur.com/JyqONV4.jpg

As you can see, there is an error in line 288 => "Exception in unit userscript line 288:"

When I click on details, I get this: https://i.imgur.com/cNFE7aB.jpg

When I click on Continue Application, I get this error: https://i.imgur.com/fvUpz78.jpg

And when I click OK for that error, nothing happens, and I get a 1mb "Textures" folder and a 269mb "DynDOLOD-temp" folder in my "TES5LODGenOutput" folder.

Am I doing something wrong?

Edit: BTW, this is what I see ingame:

https://i.imgur.com/afrHSGL.jpg

There seems to be no problems, but I want to make sure that that error is not going to haunt me in the future in some way.

Getting the same errors as described in Judasem's post, hoping to find out if there is anything we need to do.

Looks like the dds libraries of TES5Edit doesn't like a certain source texture. LOD will still work you will just not have "perfect" LOD textures for the few remaining textures it couldn't create.

Lets try to narrow it down. Download attached version of DynDOLOD TexGen.pas that will print a line for each LOD texture it is working on.

Take note of the last .dds file before it crashes. You can look up the source textures used for the LOD texture in TES5Edit\Edit Scripts\DynDOLOD\DynDOLOD_TexGen_noalpha.txt yourself.

Or just post the last line here and then I can tell you which source textures we have to look at.

If you identified the source textures upload them somewhere or better yet please name the mod they are from.

For me DynDOLOD TexGen doesn't show up in TES5Edit when I open the Apply script list. I have the latest version and all but DynDOLOD TexGen isn't showing up.

"Unknown" error also happens when DDS files can't be read or written due to file system access rights.

If I remember right I added a check if file exists. We will see :)

Then you haven't extracted the archive correctly or maybe changed its filename? DynDOLOD TexGen.pas was added in version 1.10 already.

I have the same error(well, mine says EAccessViolation instead of Unknown, but occurs in the same place). This is the output when running your new script. Last row before Exception is "Working on 9 textures\lod\mountainslablod.dds". I have no idea what mod that's from, but I installed STEP 2.2.9.1 to the letter if that helps.

I downloaded the recent version of TES5Edit, did the -o:"C:\TES5LODGenOutput", and have the mods that it said I needed in the Detailed instructions available page at the STEP guide. Did I miss anything?
