Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback

Recommended Posts

The extra note section in the guide about Optional ESPs for "EVE" is confusing, since those ESPs no longer exist for 1.16 - is that outdated info from 1.15c?

EDIT: actually... those ESPs mentioned in the guide notes do exist in the main 1.16 archive.  For some reason, they just didn't install?  I'm confused.  Apparently it's a fomod, and for me it didn't automatically install the "NO GRA" or "NO DLC" ESPs.

EDIT2: if I go into MO settings and set Fomod Installer plugin to false, it does install those 2 ESPs.

I don't mind people giving me corrections and critiques. I've put many papers up for peer review and heard a lot worse. I've also read some stuff on ratemyprofessor.com. Big mistake.

Holster - new mesh for Heavensturkey - newest version is 1.2a.  There are 2 files - the guide doesn't specify if both should be installed.

BTW - I'm not complaining about anything.  Just helping to make the guide better by providing feedback as I implement it on my computer. :)

EDIT - the contents of the 1.2a archive file is a little tricky, because it has to be installed into the "meshes\characters\_male\" folder of the other archive file's directory structure, apparently...

Get the first file and install the second one in that folder you listed. I'll put install instructions in a bit. You can right click on the install of that file and 'Create directory' for the folders you need, then drag the file into the folder.

BTW - I'm told by FNVEdit that (the guide does not mention cleaning this file):

Caliber.esm
CRC: 38C75B04
Version: 4.017
Delev, Graphics, Invent, Names, Relev, Stats
  • Warning: Contains 7 ITM records. Clean with FNVEdit.

I thought it was 4 ITMs, but I should have had it listed anyways.

Also, getting ITMs on TrooperOverhaul-Dragbody.esp in LOOT.

And regarding the Holster mods: "Holster" and "Holster - new mesh for Heavensturkey".  They both have a "Holster.esp", so I went into "Holster" and placed that .esp into optional.

Damn... I finally tried actually loading the game up after doing all the updates to my mod list (I did everything except completing all of the texture optimizings).  I was relieved to see that it worked and starting playing the intro.  Then I got bummed out when I realized that the text in the main menu was invisible.  If I hovered the mouse over certain spots I would see highlighted boxes (apparently 1 for each clickable choice), and the boxes were very small (much smaller than the normal selectable text options are).  I could have sworn I did the User Interface portion of the guide properly.  I don't get it.

First thing I did was install the Merge Plugins xEdit Script.  Second was uninstall FOMM without deactivating any of the previously FOMM-installed mods (didn't want to f' with any of that...).  Third was delete every User Interface mod from MO.  Forth was follow the guide from top to bottom in installing all the mods (and I did move DarnifiedUI when prompted to).

Got any ideas?

In regards to the more perks mod, for which special instructions are given, here's the first line of the special instructions...
The More Perks 2_4_6 file cannot be installed by MO, so the archive must be extracted. Then delete the "Docs" folder and repackage into an archive.

Which I find kind of confusing...did I miss something obvious? Thanks.

EDIT: What I think I'm being asked to do is use my 7-zip to unzip the archive in the main file, then delete the folder and then re-zip it, is that correct? I'm not meant to do anything like I was earlier with extracting BSA's?

Yes extract the docs folder outside of MO.

having an issue with the Flashlight NVSE mod during installion it say it can't MCM Mod so it wont install in Mod Organizer even thou i have the MCM Mods installed and have tested and it is working

Get the new MO script. It's listed in the changeling for December 4th. That will let MO see the MCM files for every mod that needs them.

In regards to merging Yuki's mods...

Step 7...

In the left pane of MO, untick Craft and Cook at Camp and Barbecue Grills, Dead Money Surprise Items, Improved Transportalponder - Old World Blues, Old World Blues - Keep Big MT Active, Radscorpion Egg - Restoration, Removeable Pip-Boy Glove, Working Gomorrah Prostitutes - pun intended, and Working Grinding Wheel.

Am I correct that I am *not* meant to untick "Veronica Companion Weapon - Recharger Pistol"?

Hey.  with regard to New Vegas redesigned i've just posted this on the Nexus forum thread:

Hey quick question. I'm Following the Fear and loathing guide (already was but see you recommend it too) and it tells me to get the   Assets for New Vegas Redesigned 3  optional file from your mod page.  I can see it's also mentioned in your changelogs however I can't see it anywhere?  am I belng blind?  undder optional I see the patches, no NPC edits, FCO ESP and the Russell patch?  Have they be moved elsewhere or removed for some reason?

Any Ideas here? I can see that was only just added to the guide last night so thought it would be up to date?  And good timing! I'm just following the guide now and got to that part tonight

Just follow the instructions exactly the way I laid out. Some of the ones you untick are plugins only, but the ones you leave ticked have other assets like textures and meshes.

No problem someone just told me on the nexus forums and an F5 of the page has it now gone :)  Thought i was going mad for a moment.  I've also gone back and found out why it was removed int he first place now... Thats the problem with those nexus forums it's so damn tricky to follow threads when it's all jumbled up into one and you can't see the previous comment without clicking a link!
