Noobsayer Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 (edited) Hi, sorry, but I keep seeing comments like ITS FIXED!! and then NO ITS NOT FIXED! Is this mod fully compatible now? It will be once lifestorock fixes it for 2.3. It's still got the same issues for 2.2, people claiming otherwise are doing so in ignorance. EDIT: Whoops, didn't see the next page, my bad. Already answered :) Edited March 8, 2014 by Noobsayer
DoYouEvenModBro Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Thanks man. I'll keep my eyes out for 2.3. It should work very nicely with Better Towns Textures.
WilliamImm Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 (edited) ...and I just so happened to miss the drama while binge-playing through Mass Effect 2. I'm pretty sure the drama in that game is much better than the one happening with this mod.Speaking of - I reject Prometheus's disingenuous assertions. Sure, he cites a bunch of comments here, but nearly all of them are either a) acknowledged as rude by the STEP moderators or b) not actually insults to the author at all. I especially have no idea how the second quoted comment, or my previous one on him ended up getting read as in insult, when it literally said "He's tough to work with, through I otherwise don't mind him".And the whole "asking for endorsements in the comment thread" is very close to infringing on the Nexus ToS: Do not solicit (ask for) ratings, endorsements or file of the month votes either for your own mods or for mods created by other Nexus members within your file/image description.Although it doesn't say "comment thread", I'd really suggest that it'd be added to the ToS. The community here was justified in reacting the way it did: requesting endorsements for your mod is a strong offense, and I had no idea how the author got past without so much as a formal warning. (EDIT: From the moderators of the Nexus, asking for endorsements is not a formal warning worthy offense, and so this could be considered a overreaction. Still doesn't explain the lynch mob mentality towards the STEP project)Don't use this as an excuse to start a lynch mob - although I am confused and angry at how he (and the surrounding community) misrepresented us, I'd rather not promote that impression further.EDIT: Been trying to post a thread to plug the ToS loophole. Won't submit for some reason, however.EDIT DEUX: That thread is posted now. Edited March 9, 2014 by WilliamImm geth do not inflitrate, but do not hold mods hostage either 2
redirishlord Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Well put WilliamImm, especially ME2 drama being superior. I think the STEP forum & guide reputation speak for themselves, I've learned a lot from both and it has renewed my interest in Skyrim and FNV. I have, and will continue to, recommend STEP as a great source of assistance and information. 1
keithinhanoi Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 I can't fathom how a seeming disconnect between the artistic and the technical sides of a visual modification creation shared freely with everyone would bring the level of vitriol, profanity, defaming generalizations, and personal attacks as I've seen. This whole "event" and a few other similar recent ones have sucked dry all my inspiration and interest in being an active part of or making any further contribution of any sort to the modding community at this time. Many thanks to all who have directly or indirectly helped me.
z929669 Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Thread closed. Mod discussion re-opened on another thread. Please do not continue with the OT conversation on the new thread. All of this activity, here and on the Nexus has been reported on the Nexus, and STEP will be acting in accordance with the Nexus once they determine how to respond to the literally hundreds of OT posts relating to this mod regarding endorsements, attitudes and any other emotional content that has resulted.
Allsunday Posted March 9, 2014 Author Posted March 9, 2014 https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51188/Interesting. I hate the forge floor in Dawnstar :D This simple mod adds a tweaked type of farmhouses that have no snow under the roof .Plus 3d snow over roofs .I was sincerely annoyed to see inworld the snow cumulate under roofs in the Vanilla skyrim ,As well disapointed by the powderlike layer of white that woudl have been snow without a proper tridimensional feel ....so this mod fixes those small but immersion breaking issue.
WilliamImm Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Even through another thread for this mod exists, it was closed anyway due to OT posting. Just so you know.
oqhansoloqo Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 (edited) I watched a video recently on this mod and noticed the reviewer walking his character onto a snow-covered Draugr ruins dome (or something like that). What looked like a potential issue, was that the snow was so thick that 1/2 of the player's body was beneath the snow and thus impossible to see. Could this lead to issues with objects dropped in that area being unrecoverable? I haven't tested this. Edited March 9, 2014 by oqhansoloqo
Ganda Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 BTW, this works fine with footprints right? Completely forgot about it :/ oqhansoloqo, can you link the video?
oqhansoloqo Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 (edited) The video, near the end: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpeZeoE5awM As far as I could tell with some of the lesser snow piles around Bleak Barrows the footprints decals worked on the raised snow piles. I actually wish that the snow piles that are in easily accessible areas by the player or creatures were toned down a bit, because of the walkthrough situation where you can't see what's under the snow. Ganda Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Oh, seen it... Never noticed it when I had it installed. It's supposed to be fresh snow so I guess it wouldn't be that consistent (you shouldn't be able to walk on top of it, you'd sink), but yes, for a game that can be hazardous. Does that happen because of collision? Mesh experts needed!
Noobsayer Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 (edited) BTW, this works fine with footprints right? Completely forgot about it :/ oqhansoloqo, can you link the video? If I recall Footprints did not work on the added snow, but I'm not 100 percent sure on that now. I do recall the author saying the no collision was intentional. Wouldn't have been my design decision, but it's on purpose. Edited March 9, 2014 by Noobsayer

It's a matter of checking if/where it is annoying, nothing nifskope can't deal I think :p
DoYouEvenModBro Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 So version 2.3 is good? Works with SMIM? We're all good now?
