oqhansoloqo Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51188/? I haven't tested the mod whatsoever, but looking at the comparison photos on the mod page, this mod appears to be a graphical improvement that makes structures in snowy areas logically look more realistic. can a moderator erase this thread? I did a search for the mod prior to posting and didn't find anyone talking about it... now I see a message at the bottom of this editing page that says that there is another similar posting.

vfxninjaeditor Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 The main thing to keep in mind is that this is a HUGE step in the right direction. Way better than Bethesda implementation even at it's early stages. I don't see why one would have an issue with this mod when it's quite brilliant, even with a harsh transition or two (don't pretend to ignore all the harsh transitions Bethesda created themselves with meshes and the like). The new update has added nordic temple structures with 3D snow. Looks incredible.
oqhansoloqo Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I'm a nobody here, but I agree with vfxninjaeditor. Even with some of the abrupt transitions, it's much better than the vanilla implementation. Even if it's not perfect yet, it's still better at the stage it's at.
Ganda Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Nice little mod, a definite addition to your modlist if you still have space :p I didn't find any conflicts, it pretty much just changes the vanilla objects to his own, nothing major. No crashes so far either.
DanielCoffey Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Where does he get the snow textures on the roofs and porches from? Are they just picking up whatever texture replacer you are using or is it a custom texture? If he is using custom textures, there may be conflicts with some of the other Snow replacers.
Ganda Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 There are only meshes in his mod so I suppose you'll textures from other mods. I have no file conflict with a full STEP plus some thingies installed. Plus, as all files from the main version are overwritten by the DG version I suppose you should only use one? xD I just fail too much, pay no mind to me
TehKaoZ Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Supposedly their is a conflict between this and Better Dynamic Snow (not really sure what the specifics are). Author wants to reach SparrowPrince about getting compatibility in but says he can't reach him through nexus. If anyone knows SparrowPrince and can contact him I'm sure the author + community would be appreciative.
vfxninjaeditor Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I wish the author would actually take note of the suggestions he is asking people for. IMO, before he finishes up the mod, he needs to create a patch for SMIM. I would say that is the most crucial patch needed. Other people can upload patches for village/town mods.
Crimson13 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 This looks great honestly, but it's one of those things where it's 'Is it worth an .esp?'. It seems like it's more in line with textures so the .esp doesn't make sense to me. Still, wait and see.
TehKaoZ Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 well he's editing the building models themselves. The textures used are based on whatever you have installed.
vfxninjaeditor Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 The reason he includes an esp is he also does CK edits. He has added some custom snow meshes to the farm house floor boards as well as icicles to various places. I would say the CK edits are necessary for certain edits that can't be done to the meshes alone.
oqhansoloqo Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 The Better Dynamic Snow (BDS) incompatibility issue isn't so bad because BDS is no longer part of STEP Core or STEP Extended. There is an alternative mod to use instead of BDS anyway: Snow Shader Fix (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51495/?). Supposedly there are some issues with that mod and they are being investigated, but it is a much simpler and less invasive mod than BDS. Supposedly Snow Shader Fix is compatible with No Snow Under the Roof, and it gets rid of the awful-looking white paint (YES!).
