rpsgc Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Discussion thread: Dual Wield Parrying by Borgut1337 Wiki Link Requires SKSE This mod allows you to block while dual wielding. For better results you should use it with the recommended mod, Dual Wield Blocking animations for proper blocking animations. I've been using it for a month without any obvious issues*. It does what it says it does. *I'm sure not everyone's experience will be flawless, but no mod is perfect It supports the following combinations: Quote Nothing + Nothing (bare fists) One-handed Weapon + Nothing One-handed Weapon + Shield One-handed Weapon + One-handed Weapon Two-handed Weapon Nothing + Shield Spell + Shield Staff + Shield One-handed Weapon + Spell (ONLY works if the Spell is in the left hand) Staff + Nothing (ONLY works if the Staff is in the left hand) Staff + One-handed Weapon (ONLY works if the Staff is in the left hand) Spell + Nothing (ONLY works if the Spell is in the left hand) I don't know if it's fit for STEP or not but I thought I'd share. I'm sure some people will be interested in it. (veryfy conflicts if former) What are the recommended options? What are the diffs? What are each of the people testing the mod out using? ANSWERS (thanks Vond) Accepted for STEP v2.2.6 --Thanks to Eliian for producing the mod page
rootsrat Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 I was using this for ages (still am) and there are no issues, it's a great mod that should be in STEP I think. It's quote logical for a person to be able to block with two weapons, no?
MontyMM Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Sounds like a good candidate to me - and improvement to an illogical flaw in the vanilla game.
Eliian Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Will some more good input in. When I used it I had no issues at all (got tired of duel wielding so removed it). Fixes a flaw in the game for sure. Agreed that is it is just the type of mod that belongs in STEP.
eberkain Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Have used it before, seems like a no-brainer to go along with duel sheath redux.
carlos3lance Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Well, yeah, technically you can parry with two weapons. Not being able to do so is to nerfy, I don't want to be reminded that I'm playing a game, I just want to stop thinking of my bills and balancing checks :D
darthbdaman Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 I personally don't think this should be included in STEP. While I have no problem with the mod itself, it changes the balance of dual wielding quite dramatically. The dual wielding was balanced with lack of blocking in mind, and, IMO, giving dual wielding blocking makes it totally superior to single wielding, and sword and board.
Neovalen Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 I disagree on unbalancing, a shield is still far superior to any parry, esp with perks.
rootsrat Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 I'm with Neo on this one. Plus it fixes totally illogical aspect of the game.

I think it's more about play style then balance. Personally I pick sword and board any day before dual wielding. Besides skyrim have never been balanced, you dominate the majority of the enemies and once in awhile you come across a mage or two-handed warrior that crush you in two hits.
Aiyen Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Yeah shields are way way better... even more so if you actually scale the enemies to your own level and/or use a combat overhaul mod as well... Also if you block... then you do not do damage... and you take more damage when hit compared to a shield..so I would say that it balance out fairly well. In general just a must have mod imo.
z929669 Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 This sounds right for STEP by the sound of it. Just a couple of loose ends. OP updated
Vond Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 To answer the mod testing questions: 1) It does use a plugin. Zero conflicts, the esp only contains one entry for a new idle animation and one for a new "quest" (ie the menu etc) 2) The only options in MCM is to change the hotkey for it (defaults to V). Might've been one more but if so I forgot
z929669 Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Thanks Vond. This looks like it can be tentatively accepted
