This is an updated and maintained version of Book Covers Skyrim - Lost Library (by DanielCoffey), which is part of the STEP guide.

It's ESL'd and offers more resolution options, as well as re-encoded textures with added mipmaps. Other than that it's the same mod. Inclusion could be a simple replacement of the old mod.

My problem with this idea is... why should a book be 4k? I would think 512x1024 would be plenty fine for a book.

I agree that 4K seems excessive for book covers, although it does include 1024x512 and 2048x1024 in optional files.

Oh nice! In that case, it may be worth it. Main concern then would be redoing all the patch work we did around it, due to change to FE esl flagged plugin.

This is AI upscaled and not very well. Just look at the detail loss and all the issues:

Leather texture is destroyed, corner detail is destroyed, front detailing with deer and tree is way too sharped to the point edges are way over exaggerated.

Same here. Texture on the book is destroyed. Wording is way over exaggerated.

This is why you don't batch process upscales!!!

I 100% agree.

Thanks for posting these compares. It demonstrates the fallacy of assuming that higher-res textures are better. Books should be 512, IMO. But if people want to run 4k, then they should consider using something custom built from scratch. There's a limit to upscaling, and this certainly shows it.
