druisiuil Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 Discussion topic: Optimized meshes for ENB lights by Oz3 Wiki Link In the screen shots below I gain about 18fps standing next to this table full of candles in Dead Crone Rock: Spoiler Top is without mod.
DoubleYou Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 This actually sounds like a viable method of reducing the draw calls around these.
druisiuil Posted January 15, 2023 Author Posted January 15, 2023 Consolidate several lights into one - makes sense to me. I didn't mention in mention in my OP, I have these optional files installed: A - Vanilla and SMIM files Ruins Clutter Improved patch I think those are the only ones that apply to the STEP 2.1 list.
d2eRX52 Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 plus without mod I think the table gets overly bright because of the lights, while with mod, it is not so bright
druisiuil Posted January 16, 2023 Author Posted January 16, 2023 It does alter the lighting balance. You can see in the mod page's first two pics, the mod extends the light further. I hadn't noticed what you point out on those initially, but the same concentration of light in the vanilla pic is absent from the mod pic. In mine the light extension is not as obvious, but the room details near the walls are better lit.
TechAngel85 Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 You shouldn't see any difference with this, since we're using Radiant Candles; nor is it compatible with Radiant. Radiant already has only one ENB light source per mesh besides the chandeliers, which has 4 in Radiant vs this one's single use. I keep seeing mods being considered for ENB lights. It MUST be understood that ENB lights are mesh-level edits. This means that these types of mods will not be compatible with one another unless patches are made. Period. So if you install this, you're overwriting all edits from Radiant where they conflict and you will end up with different colors lights, different light radii, etc. My opinion is that this mod would be completely useless in our Guide. Radiant already has ENB lights at their maximum radius for each light. This is a very short radius for a light source, to be honest, so the fact this mod is making them smaller is concerning for any sort of realism. The max distance isn't very realistic on its own and is the reason chandeliers have 4 in Radiant. Radiant also does a couple things other mods don't do. One being that the lights are moved away from the flame to a degree. This prevents sources like wallscones and table-top candles from being oversaturated on surfaces (a common issue ENB lights). Second thing Radiant does that others don't is match the ENB light color to popular lighting mods. To my knowledge, Radiant Candles is the only mod that offers color matching.

Thanks for those insights. This helps to clarify.
