Goffender Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 So in 1B, cleaning the update ecm, is there a reason not to run tes5 edit outside of MO and avoid the whole uncomfortable overwrite thing? I have a SSD but apparently it's not fast enough. Same goes for cleaning the DLCs? I'm obviously still not comfortable with overwrite management.
TechAngel85 Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 No reason other than creating copies in MO. Having the cleaned DLC as mods in MO helps to prevent having to re-clean them every time you have to verify your cache on Steam.
Goffender Posted May 9, 2017 Author Posted May 9, 2017 (edited) I guess what's confusing is that it's deleting it from my game folder, if I verify, steam will put it back, won't that mess up the MO virtual update esm? And I have a pretty good ssd so I'm not sure why it's even happening. Edited May 9, 2017 by Goffender
Greg Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 What you want as the end result to keep the original, unmodified masters (skyrim.esm, update.esm, etc.) in the skyrim/data directory and the cleaned versions saved as mods named something like Cleaned Update, Cleaned Dawnguard, etc. in Mod Organizer. This way you don't have to worry about Steam updating the files in the game folder since these are all vanilla anyway. Once you get good clean copies of the masters, you can save copies of them somewhere in ZIP files and install them using Mod Organizer if you ever decide to start fresh.
Tykune Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 (edited) Fyi, Better Beast Races in the STEP Guide appears to be hidden by the author, making it unable to be downloaded. Not sure why. Also, XCE-Dawnguard is no longer available as well. The reason given by the author is: Currently I am no longer involved in any modding activities. My mods have been a burden to me for many years. Please do not contact me about any of my mods. I am unable to answer any requests or questions that you may have. Edited May 22, 2017 by Tykune
Greg Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 This was discussed earlier I think in the Better Beast Races topic. This just provides textures for Argonians so you can either leave it out or use one of the alternative mods listed in that topic depending on your preference.
