  1. This is a logical analysis. I do not use PP and have never seen this. I wonder if this could be a driver issue? If not, has any texture opt been done? Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
  2. Sorry, I cannot help with the dilemma RE CK, but I am looking forward to examining the result ;)
  3. Updated the OP to use the "insert image" method rather than links to take advantage of the HighSlide feature that s4n implemented. ;) As far as the dots go, I use an AMD 6850, 1 Gb, 2-CrossfireX setup and have not seen this. I recommend using the settings described in the pictorial guide on the wiki (that is what I use, without issue).
  4. @Iriodus Best way to communicate bugs or issues with specific DDSopt functionality is by posting on Ethatron's DDSopt Github. Let him know that you did this on the Beth forums. Perhaps he will check there more often if people start using it to report on functionality. Also, USE the 8.0 pre-release 3 and follow the instructions earlier in this thread. It is a MUCH better implementation! On Github, you should provide detailed feedback, including the versions of DDSopt and affected textures.
  5. This does not bode well for the Nexus. A few more of these kinds of instances will likely see Steam as a favored host over the Nexus, which would be a damn shame.
  6. Just FYI: No US location likely matches Lincoln, Nebraska when it comes to home-use fireworks insanity. There is a WAR in this town, and I swear we are being bombed now and for the past 3 solid hours. From a high point in town, one can see the entire town choked with smoke and light. Not a single peaceful patch of darkness. This is a VERY red state, and these people just can't get enough of blowing **** up ... YEEEE HAW!Â
  7. I will update the DDSopt guide once Ethatron gets back RE some of the outstanding items on the DDSopt thread. As of the new DDSopt 8.0 pre-release 3, that tool is clearly the best way to go as far as texture optimization goes. DDSopt is now SUPER fast and simple to run, given that one knows what settings to use. Certain textures will not play nicely with any of the texture optimization tools, so it really comes down to knowing what settings to use and what textures NOT to process... DDSopt clearly offers more solutions in these areas, and there is no excuse not to use that app in favor of any others once the exclusion list and settings are finalized. Just point and click followed by a short wait.
  8. This thread is killing me!
  9. ... OK, thread snipped ... feel free to continue exploring the annals of Sheogorath and Dionysus.
  10. We seriously deviate on this sticky. When I have a moment, I'll move this interesting bit of the thread to the Non-STEP forum, where we can continue ...
  11. Me too. The same few games for a very long time
  12. @Venk I updated my original post (and your quote of that) to reflect a slight tweak of the procedure (I had pasted an early version of the procedure from an admin forum thread). This should now be correct. NOTE: you would not want to combine files from steps 2-3, but rather combine files from steps 1-2 overwriting 3.2 with 3.1b.
  13. Venk, You can extract the HRDLCs into dub directories and run these bats on them according to the following instructions... Eiwyn has had plenty of time to update his mod, so I have no problem at all sharing this in the meantime. Go to HighResTexturePack DLC Tweaks by Eiwyn Download DLC tweaks 3.2. Extract to its own folder (e.g., "HRDLC_Tweaks"_3.2) in the working directory.Download DLC tweaks 3.1 beta. Extract to the folder in step 1 above, OVERWRITING 3.2 with 3.1b Extract to its own folder (e.g., HRDLC_Tweaks_3.1b) in the working directory. Go to HD Textures DLC Fix by Hionimi and krist2 Download the HRDLC Fix. Extract to its own folder (e.g., HD_Texture_DLC_Fix) in the working directory.Extract HighResTexturePack01.bsa to its own folder in the working directory (e.g., HRDLC1).Extract HighResTexturePack02.bsa to its own folder in the working directory (e.g., HRDLC2).... there should now be 4 directories total in the working directory... Extract the attached BAT files into the working directory (i.e., not into a sub-folder though).Run the START BAT and examine the logs as well as the resuting HRDLC1-2 folders. Then runn DDSopt Pre3 on the final result according to the settings I posted previously on this thread. On Ultra settings, comparing vanilla to DDSopt-ed vanilla (using these methods), I saw a substantial boost in FPS in various areas.
  14. Most of that post is beyond my study, but I understand enough to appreciate its complete hilarity in its pervasive level of scholarly nerdiness.
  15. You are a literal thinker too, I see! I would have wondered the same thing. Better that they ask: What kind of pet are you bringing in for treatment today? That would have been pretty simple :P
  16. Go with Civ IV, as this is more close to the original game I think. Also, I agree emphatically with Draco's points. In fact, I almost always picka civ that grants two opening settlers, as two cities within the first 2-3 turns is critical to early advancement (given the resources). MANY strategies of play though.
  17. Discussion thread: Golden Gods Shrines by Psychosteve Wiki Link Just adding a placeholder for this mod. A more detailed review is needed, but I can say that it is a simple, yet effective improvement, with several options for the discerning user [ Welcome Psychosteve to the STEP Community ]
  18. Same here. Prince is my limit. I always play on a gigantic map with about 12 civs. Very difficult game, and the only reason some are able to win on king and above is because they have figured out all of the little tricks (or more likely are following a compiled guide). I NEVER attempt to learn the game mechanics, as that ruins the excperience for me. As soon as I can reduce the game down to a bunch of empirical data points and precicely-calculated decisions, it is no longer a dynamic game for me and becomes more like completing a giant, complicated jigsaw puzzle. Boring! My favorite part of the game is the first third and building the civ's base. After that I can usually see the end.
  19. Gentlemen will be fine from my standpoint, sweetcakes; although, I cannot speak for s4n, as he can also sound very sexy when he wants :P Glad to help
  20. Also, double check the file size of your Update.bsa file. Version 1.5.26 is ~13MB. Version 1.6 is ~16MB.I did not verify anything under my Data directory, so I'll take a look thi evening and report back. ... I hated Steam before 2011, and I still hate Steam :yucky:
  21. FYI Just saw today that my TESV.exe has been REMOVED. It is not present in the Recycle Bin either. I DID NOT delete the file; however I cannot say what application or event was responsible. Any other reports of this behavior? I simply restored a backup of this file (the ONLY file missing BTW)
