But you can opt to have them close after the game starts. Are they still running in the background? I wasn't aware of this feature in WB (or NMM)... is it new?

Recommended upgrades for Skyirm with STEP
z929669 replied to nico53laval's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Whish is awesome as I am a sandy guy :D And it does handle Skyrim quite nicely ... -
Note that both NMM and Wrye Bash use significant resources in the background, so I would not use either to launch Skyrim unless you are simply testing non-performance-related things... then I'd side with WB.
-
... And I personally like Ruins Clutter versions more

Ultra shadows is one of the biggest VRAm killers, so that will cost. Test high up on the steps in WR in middle of the day as well as inside front gate of Windhelm (as in the screens of the DDSopt guide). These are high VRAM areas.

You did it right it sounds like. The only thing is that you may be running some assets that are not recommended or missing some that are. Very few though, and you will likely not even notice. This is why we wrote the guides, particularly the WB guide. As long as you used Wrye Bash to install the mods, and took care to adhere to the tips and tweaks sections, you should be good to go. ;)

I absolutely love Civ, but have not played much in past year. I have Civ 5 now, but am not convinced that I like it yet. There are some fundamental changes that I am not sure I can get along with. I LOVED Civ 2 Aside from the graphics, that may have been my favorite game style. I really like Halo as well, but MP is tough competition ... Bioshock was pretty amazing (and disturbing). I really liked the very first MS combat flight simulator. Totally awesome. Unreal tournament was great, and of course... Quake. I was pretty much introduced to Gaming on Quake and Quake II. MP was the BEST (anyone ever use the grappling hook in Q2?)

This has been the case for weeks now. You also need to review the spreadsheet and the PDF *again*Â :P

I'm only using the texture overhauls and packs from the S.T.E.P. v2.1.1b guide.most of the answers you want are already on this thread. begin reading around pp 13 on this thread ;)

There is no reason NOT to use the HRDLC if you use Vano89's solutions. You want to first install DDSopt-ed HRDLC, then DDSopt-ed Vano89-Optimized DLC, then your chosen DDSopt-ed texture overhaul. You should use the latest DDSopt 8.0 pre release 3 and settings I recommend on this thread. Note that some textures from overhaul mods may not be properly treated by DDSopt, so you should either filter those out or overwrite the output woth originals in those cases.

You may paste long posts here, just insert inside a spoiler block like so:
long list or text or whatever
Result looks like (but your post really isn't that long for these forums ;) ): Now to your question. If you go back to the DDSopt Guide, take a look at the foot of the very first table. This is where HyN is defined (with link to mod), and you want to install the "Vanilla Normal Maps" from Vano89's mod. This will replace the high def normals from SKYHR with vanilla for a big performance gain with minimal visual impact ;)

Scroll back a page or two and look for the link in one of Ethatron's posts. If it does not work anymore for some reason, I can post it.

Cheapest solution that will get you well into the future for less than $500 right now would be to grap 2x radeon 6950 2Gb cards and set up CrossfireX. I use the same cards now, but with only 1Gb apiece, and my FPS are solid 40+ with max STEP, and I run full step with mostly 1K textures for the big stuff (occasional big drops during loading with full STEP though, but that will happen with anything). Even better (maybe a 5-10% all around gain, tops?) would be to do as Fri says or do 2x the Radeon 7970 3 Gb once they release the 4 Gb, which should bring that cost down as well to less that $800 total. (Key diff is that my way will save you upwards of $300 and give you a great XP with mostly full-res textures right now.) Either way, I would go with CrossfireX (I am diehard ATI, and don't buy NVIDIA) or SLI (but the latter is said to have some issues).

Thanks for the info. I will verify one of these days!

Then it could be the meshes... will need to wait for those DDS files and sources from MW25

Yep, after cycling again, special permissions (with deny attribute) have successfully been applied. I will wait and see if anything strange happens and report back ;) -
List of DDS would be great (and from which mod if any). Your snow meshes should not be causing the issue. My guess is that it is texture related only.

Well put I prefer to think that my cummulative brain chemistry dates back to squids, with super fatty myelin sheaths on axons, you can have your jellyfish ancestry and suffer the slower consequences :hurr: Ahh, but you choose then to insert yourself well near the top rung of the ladder, as your squid are an advanced lot among the Mollusca, especially regarding neurology and more specifically optics No, even your squid are one long branch leading from the most basal of the true Metazoa

Yes! That is better! My experience is that ENB turns almost all overcast skies into a gray-whitewash, obscuring the cloud detail. Often, I notice also that the blue skies are much more muted even when clear. I'd like to know how to compensate for that. Sort of seems like a giant gamma bump.

Skyrim Unplugged (by stoppingby4now)
z929669 replied to stoppingby4now's question in Other Utilities Support
No, if you look closer, I formerly had three entries for Users. Full Control supersedes all unless one of the other two "Special" had restrictions (i.e., deny), which they did not. Not to mention that it makes no sense that I had two other "Special", even if inheritance differed. This is just testament to multiple programs tampering with my user permissions when it just was not necessary at all. "Users" on my box should be restricted ... when I look at my permissions, I want it to make intuitive sense, and the original just was not the simplest way to achieve the desired result My TESV is effectively exactly that you see in my previous post for my acc. Note that those are screens of my common/skyrim/ folder and that for the former, admin applied to all sub-folders/files and all of the latter permissions I set apply to E:/ subs/files. However, I can say with confidence that the deny rule is/was not active on any of my defined permissions. -
I really like the second, but as with many ENB PP effects I have seen, the sky and clouds get washed out. Winter skies are often gunmetal gray or even fairly light and nondescript, but they are often crystal-clear blue with cirrus clouds, and it seems like I never see any blue skies with any ENB PP. How do you get the great object effects whilst keeping a blue sky with defined couds? Is this possible?

z929669 replied to stoppingby4now's question in Other Utilities Support
I know my permissions before were fine, but they were redundant and a bit too much access was being granted to Authenticated and general Users. Two Special and one Full Control to general Users is just plain nonsense ... I am a neat freak, remember? Here are the comprehensive goods (UAC disabled): -
uGridsToLoad Limit: maximum allocated RAM on 64bit < 3GB?
z929669 replied to PatimPatam's question in General Skyrim LE Support
RE multithreading... be careful with this one, as it is counterintuitive because of the way Skyrim allocates resources. MontyMM provided some good detail in these forums somewhere on this, and s4n/Fri had some good weigh in. I'd check out those posts first. lots of good info there.
