I'd like to look again at Relighting Skyrim for Extended though. Has it come far since or not?

ACCEPTED Enhanced Blood Textures (by dDefinder)
z929669 replied to frihyland's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I think that too much blood is rather unrealistic. You would need to cleanly slice a major artery to get noticeable blood puddling, which does not really happen often or only when slicing off limbs or heads. Even then, puddling is surprisingly minimal (living bodies and beating hearts ... AND clean-cut arteries lead to big puddles). And blood spatter from blunt trauma is subtle. It would be good to see a lot of blood if you stood there slicing up or beating your fallen enemy for a minute or two. That is a less-intensive scripted action I would think. I always thought that the blood-enhancement mods just took bleeding way too far, so I personally won't miss this literal overkill. -
SKYRIMLE Better Vanilla Hairs - Mesh Replacements
z929669 replied to justjr's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I like this mod, and as long as it is a replacer of the corresponding crappy meshes, then all of the others will still be available, and this is an improvement, IMO. ... still think that vanilla hair looks great on these meshes. AOF is right up there too. -
Thanks for stopping by ;) I agree with your approach (as if that is any validation), and agree that rock texture reuse is a problem. I was wondering about the necessity of creating asymmetrical textures to work with each of the rock meshes once they were all made consistently. Fixing the mountains and rocks is one of the really big overhauls yet to be done, IMO. Regarding textures, we have an extensive gallery in the OP, so feel free to use this in order to determine a texture base for creating the custom textures you require. I think that the best texture bases could be derived from mountainslab01 and/or montainslab02. Given my penchant for vanilla artistry, I would consider using Vanilla HD Rocks (29802). This author (pannonian) has uncompressed 4k source textures on that mod site, and they are an accurate enhancement of the vanilla basalt-granite-like morph of the vanilla rocks. For a more granite-like appearance, I think that AOF Detailed Mountians (4805) are well respected and widely used. I also agree that Ewis textures are dazzling (I think v1 is his best version for compatibility with Skyrim artistry). However, you can get a bit creative and perhaps use two sources and apply them to the location of the main mountain ranges. Whatever you choose, I hope that the community will expound upon the variety based upon your initial choice (another reason to honor the vanilla-like look). Let us know what we can do to help out!

OK, sounds democratic to go with Legible for Extended then ... and for Core unless we all can agree that there is nothing wrong with vanilla ... ?
-
Yep, I agree, but the dual cursor fix is the key question. That is a true fix. My main question is: Should we adopt the fix from this mod or should we stick with the original, more specific mod?
-
Sometimes I think that if I made a bad retexture called Better Tonails, most people would want to use it simply because it is a retexture. I think that vanilla looks completely fine and more believable than the others (big surprise). For STEP, Legible Roadsigns is the only acceptable retex, as it maintains the vanilla style.

DROPPED Enhanced Distant Terrain 2 - Trudgement Day (by SparrowPrince)
z929669 replied to torminater's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I have done extensive testing with the noise maps (one I have not yet looked at is Ewis' ... 33846), and I have looked at every combination extensively. The OP has what I believed to be the most representative without adding another 56 images. I was torn between DTTL noise and EDT-Earth (both blend LOD ground nicely with SFO grass in foreground), as both look very good with EDT2. My main nit with DTTL is that it is a bit blotchy and does break up the roads a bit; however, it sort of grew on me the more I looked at it, because I began to accept that the roads of Skyrim should not necessarily be overly worn. I would be just as happy with EDT-Earth though, and it would be simpler to then omit DTTL. HDET does not compare as well to these others, IMO. DTTL SFO LODs do not work at all with SFO (the last one is the beta of my recolored versions). The DTTL vanilla ones work better. Since I thought that SFO snowy trees were too yellowish and DTTL was too greenish (see second image), I created the recolored DTTL SFO LODs and SFO snowy trees that are on Vurt's page: -
... I stand corrected :P

Updated my previous to account for a couple of things I forgot... here is the complete installation matching the compares above (except AOF appears in the screens and vanilla HD Mountains is in the list): -

SDO? Do you mean SFO or Skyrim Distance Overhaul? The load order should be (per the updated 2.2.7 changelog): Skyrim Realistic OverhaulDistant Terrain & Tree LODSkyrim Flora Overhaul - Basic + Recolored Trees & LODsEnhanced Distant Terrain 2Quality Skyrim World MapTrees HD - REMOVE Vurts! The full install of our working Core through sec G will yield (as of now using AOF Mountains, which will likely change to Vanilla HD):https://www.dropbox.com/sh/db2yecb4gcpe1s3/vuoSUxLHi4 -
ACCEPTED Superior Lore-Friendly Hair - HD textures (by skyrimaguas)
z929669 replied to FCqt's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
We should be looking at Superior rough, vanilla and AOF with the new meshes then ... I did not even know about that. No sense looking at anything but the rough version of Superior though. -

Agree, but with the caveat that DTTL noise map is used but not the LODs. They just do not work with SRO. I think that it would also be best to use the SRO recolored LODs now available from that mod. EDT2 is a nice enhancement, but it conflicts with a number of other mods that we need to account for (HQ LODs for starters). I think that it should win all conflicts. -
I just provided the options that the Fomod makes available ... I think there is only a 2k option for those.

ACCEPTED Superior Lore-Friendly Hair - HD textures (by skyrimaguas)
z929669 replied to FCqt's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Shiny hair is not the point. My nitpick is non-clumpy hair with sharp, brush-like ends. Just add some specularity to the vanilla normals if that is the issue ... I'll go to my grave disagreeing with the lot of you :P ... however, if I had to pick something other than vanilla (and AOF), it would be the ragged version of Superior I suppose I wish TC would comment! -
OK, then I think that we should adopt as a substitute for Dual Cursor Fix, yes? (but it would be good to sort out the issue stated just previous)
-
I would love you forever (ahem) if you produced a version of your textures and your parallax with the original meshes (and any fixes you deem important enough to implement to any low-poly rocks/mountains). I have also appealed to Brumbek to apply his expertise to those mountain meshes. (see beolow) I agree. RS&M is an improvement even of the AOF masterpiece (but for the meshes whose ancestors I personally have come to dislike). I also really like Alternative Mountains, but for the silly popsicles.

As Aiyen says, the ENB settings for sun glare and the like often need to be adjusted to suit various unique aspects of the user config. You can use any of the sunglare textures if you adjust the ini accordingly (at least that is how it always used to be back in the old days 6 months ago :P )

DROPPED Closer Quivers and Longer Arrows (by EvilDeadAsh34)

As long as there is a single, cohesive installer including this option, I am fine with that. This is one of those frustrating mods that gets continuously updated with seemingly trivial additions :P -
DROPPED Daedric Armor and weapon Improvement (by GarryG)

I suppose the real question is if CaBaL intends to address? Also, is the vanilla HD version bad in some way? -
ACCEPTED Superior Lore-Friendly Hair - HD textures (by skyrimaguas)
z929669 replied to FCqt's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Hmmm, people did use combs and brushes, but they were rather coarse and likely not very common (I imagine very makeshift hair pics made from bone). A jarl in Skyrim is just glorified barbarian and far more concerned with power and respect than with his/her hair i think :P I doubt any of these people bathe daily, and certainly, they don't have shampoo and conditioner. Clumpy, finger-combed, oily hair would most certainly have been the norm for even upper classes (certainly men anyway), as it is for the image I linked above. -
ACCEPTED Superior Lore-Friendly Hair - HD textures (by skyrimaguas)
z929669 replied to FCqt's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I think the meshes are the main issue, but the Superior hair textures are also problematic. The strands are too parallel and the ends look like a cleaning brush. The AOF and vanilla hair is clumpier and more believable. I was pondering the Troy poster on my DVD the other day, and it confirmed for me that vanilla and AOF get the hair better than the others. https://www.locatetv.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Troy_2004.jpg -

I tend to agree ... I know almost nothing about this mod, so I just wanted to throw the idea out there.
