z929669 replied to Smile44's topic in Step Skyrim LE Packs (retired)
This is a DB issue that popped up after the last server move. It will be fixed after we move over to the new server. Heya prod. Thanks for joining. You may be interested in where we are going with STEP, and your mod will likely be a significant contribution to one of our Packs. your contribution is also very welcome, so thanks. OM me on the Nexus and we can affiliate you with the Mod Author group on these forums ;) -

Feel free to begin experimenting with our Pack-creation tools if you would like to build a guide for this ... you would be the author ;) -
pack Weather and Lighting (by Smile44)
z929669 replied to Smile44's topic in Step Skyrim LE Packs (retired)
I'd expand on the idea by proposing a lighting + weather Pack, as the two go hand-in-hand. Such a pack should probably also include an optional ENB component. -
I would buy that version ;)

is there a thread for all of the above recommendations in the Mods forum? That is the best place to promote and get into testing.

Add/update the mod pages in Mods forum please ;)

I look at road signs in game all of the time. Vanilla road signs are a decent representation and a great fit in the context of the Skyrim setting and art (if not "faux" realism). Legible is a slight difference, but arguably a mild improvement. Roadsigns Redone is a complete overhaul, and the textures do not match the rest of the game. All vanilla needs is perhaps some mesh fixes and slightly higher res textures. The illegibility and disrepair are elegant subtleties, IMO (hats off to Bethesda game artists)

ACCEPTED Superior Lore-Friendly Hair - HD textures (by skyrimaguas)

If the consensus is SLFH, then may as well make it Core to avoid added hassle. It arguably meets all Core requirements ;) -
ACCEPTED Book Covers Skyrim (by DanielCoffey and doccdr)
z929669 replied to dstansberry's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Thanks for the detail, Daniel. I like the concept of the mod and agree that a version that stays true to vanilla in terms of book names and style would be required to add this to core (not sure that a half-sized textures version would be worth it, as ?almost all? books exist within interiors, and they are pretty small). I would be wonderful if you were ever to create a version of the mod that incorporates the diversity along with the vanilla cover styles. This would turn the mod into a 'correction' IMO, and appropriate for STEP Core (and hence a standard Skyrim improvement). Either way, thanks for working on this ;) -

This is my gameplay philosophy as well ;) @Smile et al Don't be too concerned with Pack-Pack incompatibility. We are referring to SR and Extended (and the like) as "Expansion" Packs and smaller, more specialized Packs as "Add-On" Packs. The former should be all-in-one solutions and the latter should be able to be daisy-chained. The idea of installing Core followed by several specialization Packs should work just fine, given that Pack authors do not get silly and out-of-scope with their Packs (or they will not get used). We hope that this will eventually be driven by community demand for specific Add-On Packs that work with other specific Add-On Packs. People like kryptopyr will know how to put Packs together and this will foster collaboration and discussion. We are also building Pack-Pack inter-compatibility and requirements into the tools that will be used to construct the Pack Guides. All to be installed over STEP:Core of course, which will not conflict with anything an any prohibitive ways. ;)

z929669 replied to FCqt's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Actually, I would begin with the vanilla meshes. We know that they fit within the constraints of the helmet meshes. they probably just need a slightly higher poly count and some smoothing out without increasing the model size. I would do a few things and ask Brumbek if he wants them ... get credit for SMIM contribution and keep all mesh fixes together ;) -

It looks like Brumbek is tackling some of the rock/cave/mine textures in v1.56. *licking chops* -
A Comparison of Water Mods
z929669 replied to TechAngel85's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
I think that Realistic waters 2 is definitely the best of all of these. This mod takes the best aspects of Pure Waters (calm water) and Water (flowing, choppy water) and combines them into a single mod, applying each where it belongs. Add the waves action on the ocean shore, and this mod is the clear winner for me, I even like the colors used best (cooler blue). I prefer Pure waters over Water by just a small margin, mostly because Water uses the same choppy overlay for all water it seems like, and the water surface often seems to move in a different direction than the flow (this is a big vanilla mistake that Water only partially fixes, and RW2 does better ... but PW virtually eliminates). Water does have better color than PW in a few cases, but I still prefer the latter and RW2 above all. @tech Very nice work on the compare -
