  1. Looks right to me ... ... and I do advocate the HDR option. It isonly a minor change to color tone and in keeping with Core (but higher quality)
  2. ummm ... have you tried? I am not talking about theory but actuality. ;) EDIT: NM, for some reason, I did not have 'female chars' checked ... this is my problem with 'positive' tags. tags should only be used to exclude or 'filter' results. 'positive' tags could be optional, but should not be remembered and applied to every subsequent search by default
  3. I am not sure why, but I can't get this mod to come up on any of my Nexus search results by author or by mod name (even partials). The Nexus search system is often limited this way ...
  4. PIA costs $35 per year I think. Well worth it.
  5. Check for a startup process not behaving and sapping your resources.
  6. Then consider moving to America or something, I don't know. At least they didn't block those sites. For now, at least. Or maybe try using a VPN to mask your IP and effectively, you should be originating from another server location. See Private Internet Access, for example.
  7. Time to get a new ISP ... that is unfair censorship of the public internet.
  8. Thanks for the write-up, Keith. Still, a simple package that organizes options into subfolders is easy to produce and alleviates any issues for those of us that wish to tinker and play around with the config ourselves. If the RCRN team does not produce this, then somebody most certainly will at some point. Best if it comes from the mod creators, as they know it best.
  9. True, true. Good mod, inappropriate option for STEP, IMHO (although, to each his own according to personal taste ...).
  10. Thanks for replying I.N. (MT). As a side note, let's all try to be tolerant of expressions of the written word and not take things too personally. Not all of us use English as a primary language, and that can sometimes result in misinterpretation. Also be careful of how to use personal pronouns in general axiom (in this case 'you' and you're). ... now, onward, forward; forward, onward. looking forward to testing this still (I have not yet had the chance!).
  11. Thanks phaze, we'll see ;)
  12. There are sufficient seeders. Just give it some time. https://kickass.to/skyrim-realistic-overhaul-dg-v1-6-optimal-1k-2k-t7796411.html#
  13. the DP55KG actually overclocks quite well, and the cooling is also quite good. This board also lacks PCIe 3.0 though, and more PCIe slots are not alluring to me (I have 1x16 or 2x8 and am using only one card), and 32 GB RAM is just stupid for my use, so it is only slightly edging my board in terms of performance for what I need to use. Not worth $100 for me. @ deathneko PM me about this if you aren't able to get rid of it for the price you want. I will want to wait until late January anyway before buying myself any toys. I am definitely interested in squeezing what I can out of my existing hardware, and your board is about the max I could use without changing anything else.
  14. I would ask kryptopyr on her Nexus thread (or PM her here)
  15. I reverted this back to the 'gritty' version and added 'yellow tint' recommendation for Solitude and Whiterun. These are both more realistic and better-looking versions. Yellow tint is a slight deviation from vanilla, but I think that it is a 'correction' to account for candle light, which is typical for those towns.
  16. That's OK. You do a lot already ... we have over 2,000 potential contributors I am in the middle of my latest attempt to finally get the game installed according to the guide using MO this time, and am finding that there are several mod updates that need to be looked at. I might get to it myself if nobody beats me to it, but I am moving very slowly.
  17. I have to object to the mushroom stew option of this mod. The vanilla stew was always one of my favorite textures in the game ... it looked like stew! This retexture looks like sombody added a handfull of stringly mushrooms to the top without stirring it in. First off, the original was a chunky stew that looked like it was full of something that could have been meat or mushrooms. Second, all of the mushrooms are covering the actual stew, so that it no longer looks right. The texture looks like a ground texture, lacking depth. Lastly, nobody picks long, spindly mushrooms and throws them into soup. They are cut up and they would be proper mushrooms rather than these "weed" muchrooms. This is nothing like vanilla and makes it too obvious that the stuff in the pot is supposed to be mushroom stew. I am removing this from the STEP:Core recommendation, mainly because it changes the original to something completely different, and is certainly not 'better'.
  18. Is noone going to help out and provide a comparison for this one? c'mon guys!
  19. Thanks Indigo. Good info, and I hope that we can experiment with it. I believe in that last post you are referring to world-space and tangent-space normals, no? Anyway, I think that my initial grasp of armor/clothing/body meshes was essentially correct after seeing the further explanation from you guys. I was thrown off by suppositions about having to redo all the other armor mod meshes and body mods and such. STEP does not use body mods, so almost all armors are on the table for us (right??), and using Indigo's mesh tweaks should work fine, although some of these may conflict with AMB textures in some way. Will wait to hear what CaBaL says about that. (BTW, IndigoNeko = MTichenor ... I had forgotten that!)
  20. OK, but all of the armor meshes are already configured to work with the vanilla body meshes, so if MTichenor's vanilla armor meshes incorporate the changes, then why can't the AMB armor textures use them? ... and why is there any issue at all with the custom body meshes, since they will already demand altered armor meshes in many cases? Back to square one for me o_O
  21. I believe that this is compatible with all that would fit on a LGA1156 board, no? I have an Intel DP55KG that is limited to 3 GB/s SATA and 16 GB RAM capacity. I am interested in the SATA boost, but am not sure that it is worth the trouble to upgrade this small step. My current board was a pain to install into my box, since I had to attach my CoolerMaster V8 before I installed the mobo ... PITA. Getting it out again could be a *****. Can you (or anyone) verify my assessment, or that there may be other advantages of this board over my DP55KG?
  22. OK, I guess that I thought that clothing and armor models were actually separate from body models, but if the clothing/armor are using the body models directly, it makes more sense to me (i.e., I thought that clothing/armor models wrapped around the body models and that each model interacted with its corresponding texture independently).
  23. OK, I sort of understand a bit more, but my limited understanding of the dance between body replacers, clothing and armor meshes/textures is part of my problem. Do the body meshes interact with the armor meshes in ways other than that armor needs to fit over body? In other words, do these meshes 'communicate' via their properties in some way? (nobody needs to answer that, I am just stating rhetorically to convey my uncertainty in this area :P ) Yes, let's bring in those more knowlegeable than me to hop on board this community project (I'll pick it up at some point)
  24. I am still not entirely certain how body meshes affect the ability to apply armor textures to mods like Shiny, but I do understand the concept of a big community project towards a common goal ;) I don't think it is ever too late for that. EDIT: Great article you linked. Very informative and simple to understand.
  25. A tutorial is a great idea. Agree that this kind of mesh modification (not to mention textures even) is a gigantic task that probably should not be done for anything but the vanilla (fixed) meshes for certain objects only. Otherwise, it seems like a method to be shared with each modder to incorporate into their own mods as they see fit (ex., if you wanted to make a version of steel plate or elven or whatever that reflected the env, it might be a good variant). So perhaps this is more a method than a mod ... but we should keep our eye on this to see where he goes with it. It sounds like jewelry may be done ... ?
