I think there should be some sort of 'ENB Suggestions' Subforum in the 'Mods' section. It would be a cool way to compare ENBs without searching for each specific one in the huge number of posts in the general 'mod' section. What do you all think? Does that make sense? Basically a section within the 'mods' section only for ENBs

DROPPED Candle Lanterns of the North (by Chesko)
DoYouEvenModBro replied to stoppingby4now's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I never really understood what this mod did.. Was it the same as wearable lanterns except you need to replace candles and oil? If I only use the wearable lanterns main file (having an always-lit lantern on my belt), do I need this mod too? Basically, I only use the wearable lantern that hangs on your belt and never goes out. It is always on when equipped. Is Candle Lanterns of the North the same thing but with different lanterns that are harder to maintain and require refilling? -

I'm hoping to have enough spare money in the Spring to get either a 780 or R9 290x. -
General stores. Belethor in Whiterun or Riverwood Trader always have some. Thanks. I couldn't find it for the life of me.Â

Seemingly Random CTD's on a regular basis
DoYouEvenModBro replied to MageVortex's question in General Skyrim LE Support
It's important to remember that the 3.1GB figure was only ever a rough estimate - a figure we happened to notice while investigating the crashes. Also, the system metric used to supply that measurement is only a very rough indicator of how much memory a program is really using, and should never be seen as reliable. It's entirely possible that you are actually hitting the memory limit while showing 2.7-2.8GB in use.Good point. I used to crash when Skyrim hit anywhere between 2.7 Gb and 3.15ish gb. There was no consistent number but it was always somewhere around 3.1. -
Does anyone know where to get the Torchbug lantern?

Who exactly runs this? Who made BOSS? Now they just need to get the ELE Files right but those are still in alpha/beta so I'm sure that will take some time. -

Hi. Just wanted to mention that it appears that BOSS now sorts 'Supreme Storms' after 'CoT - Fog Patch' like it is supposed to. The materlist must have been updated. -
You might want to add that the "Wearable Lanterns - Lanterns for Caravans" has been proven to cause crashes at night near the Whiterun and Markarth Caravans. Right outside the cities. If you look on the mod page, the entire comment thread is people complaining about it. The author even stated somewhere that he plans to update Wearable Lanterns and remove Lanterns for Guards/Caravans although I haven't seen an update in a long long time. I think those two add-ons should be removed from STEP and only the main 'Wearable Lanterns' file be used but that's another story and I don't want to go off topic. I do want to emphasize that the Lanterns for Caravans should be removed if crashing at night near those two cities. Again though, could be a combination of Lanterns for Caravans with another mod. I cannot say for sure that it is that one specifically.

Seemingly Random CTD's on a regular basis
DoYouEvenModBro replied to MageVortex's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Those mods cause freezes rather than CTD's. @OP: * I take it you have optimised vanilla textures (you've stated you followed STEP to the letter)? * What texture size do you use for STEP mods? You may be coming across the (in)famous 3.1 GB VRAM CTD issue. If that's the case, OP should use ENB Boost. And I think you meant RAM, not VRAM :-P EDIT by rootsrat - Yes, I did :) Corrected. -
Can I just mention that I find it incredibly annoying when someone is like "OH ITS 100% BURN FREEZE SHOCK EFFECTS THAT WAS CAUSING MY FREEZES!". No, it wasn't. It was just the icing on the cake as in removing it just lessened the load of overall scripts. Same with EBT, DSI, etc. For me, removing Deadly Spell Impacts got rid of a lot of combat freezes but I am in no way saying that the mod is as fault. EDIT: Some potential solutions or workarounds to try to prevent (SOME, not ALL) of ILS/Freezes (not sure about CTD) would be to 'PCB' whenever possible when entering an interior cell. For example, if you're running across Skyrim and you start noticing some stutter or texture popins, pop into a cave and 'PCB'. Also, if you are about to fast travel and you know you will probably get an ILS (i.e. from Solstheim to Skyrim), quit to the main menu and reload your game. That will dump all VRAM/RAM/whatever. If I am wrong about any of this, please feel free to correct me but I figured it was worth mentioning because it helps me. The moral of the story is that you WILL experience ILS/Freezes/CTDs at some point when loading Skyrim with mods. These tactics should help to lessen them a bit.

SKYRIMLE Dwemer Metal Retexture (by Langley)
DoYouEvenModBro replied to WilliamImm's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Just wanted to say that I'm using the scratched version of this mod and I really like it. I like the color better than vanilla. The scratches might be a bit uniform like johnnyboy88 says but I still prefer that to the vanilla look. Definitely adds a nice effect. -

Did we ever figure out recommendations for the new updated files? Or should we still recommend the old file for now? -

Messed up Textures on Solstheim
DoYouEvenModBro replied to DoYouEvenModBro's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Yea. Like right before i noticed that actually. Lol. That's probably what it was!! Good call man. -
Indoor cells in Skyrim would probably be good for this. Maybe inside an Inn? I'm honestly not even sure if it's really noticeable with SSAO on or off but I can understand how it's one of those things where once you see it, you always notice when it's not there. Kind of like my obsession of using High-Res pines with SFO even though they add a ridiculous load to Skyrim.Â
