  1. I have not downloaded the mod myself but the conflicts between Jeclredured's spell tomes and the vanilla reading books which teach magic skills should be resolved by using it alongside Book Covers Skyrim. BCS gives new meshes to the vanilla skill books that conflicted with Jeclredured's mod. The issue of the seam on the back cover of the spell tomes which Jeclredured mentions is down to a bad UV Mapping. When I created the optimised meshes for BCS I spotted that bad UV mapping and fixed it in the new meshes. That is also the reason why the textures of the vanilla books have a bad wiggle on the lower left corner of the front cover. I do not believe Jeclredured uses my book meshes. The reason why I omitted all the spell books from BCS was compatibility. A great many mods modify the spell books (particularly names and values) and I could foresee a terrible time keeping a very broad family of compatibility patches up to date. I would be prepared to revisit this gap in the BCS mod subject to a bit of investigation by the community. If I am provided with a list of the key mods I would have to check for compatibility (I would assume Requiem would be one, for example) I would be prepared to see what effort was needed to do covers for the spell book schools in the style of Book Covers Skyrim. To avoid further derailing this thread, I will make a new one in the Mod Authors section and we can discuss an approach in there.
  2. I have just updated Book Covers Skyrim to version 2.10 to pick up some book position changes in the new version of the USKP. The changes are all in the ESP so feel free to take the English ESP from the 2.10 Language Pack rather than re-downloading the entire pack if you are on a slow or metered internet connection.
  3. I am pleased to announce that the issue has resolved itself on a clean playthrough with no significant changes to my load order. I now have Comprehension and correctly see the gains from magazines and skill books. I think it can be chalked up to "one of those things".
  4. Thanks - I have done that and will continue to fiddle with it till I have something that sits right.
  5. I have opted to try Enhanced Shaders ENB (Nevada Skies edition) with its Natural palette. Outdoors in daylight the effect is balanced and very nice to look at. Indoors however the shadows are very deep and the night is pitch black. I have no idea if this is a feature of the ENB or if it is Nevada Skies. I will look at Nevada Skies night options first.
  6. I am interested in hearing how some of you have set up ENBoost with the F&L pack and whether you have a full ENB as well. Assuming you use at least ENboost since the guide recommends it, do you have UseEffect set to false? If you have it set to true, which of the options are you using? The reason I ask is that the interior of, say, the Goodsprings Coyote Cave looks dramatically different with UseEffect on or off due to the interior ambient lighting. If you use a full ENB, which would you recommend for more natural appearances which also are updated for version 263 of the dll? I have been looking at some of the Enhanced Shaders ENB 263 presets on the nexus and would appreciate some opinions. Having looked at some of Hodilton's video reviews, quite a few are either washed out, too technicolor or simply out of date. I know there are about three mods in the F&L pack which have modified installation instructions depending on whether you are using an ENB or not.
  7. The thing the current generation of NVidia cards have brought over the AMD ones is power efficiency. Those 970s were cool and quiet and had enormous overclocking potential as a result. If you are paying for your own electricity, it is a serious consideration.
  8. I had some time and reinstalled WAR and WAR+EC and still have the issue with the Wattz Laser Rifle being held off to the left. Looks like that one might still be an issue.
  9. I will check those again in the morning then - thanks for pointing me at those settings.
  10. I have an iron sights issue with the Wattz Laser Rifle (xx00081C) from Project Nevada which Alternate Start gave me when I picked the Rifles weapon choice. When aiming with RMB, the weapon is held low and to the left but at the instant of firing it snaps to the centre at the correct aim point. It fires at the correct place but is held incorrectly. It appear it may be an old issue from 2011 according to a quick google of "wattz laser rifle iron sights" on the PN thread. Apparently we should delete the DNAM Don't Use 1st Person IS Animations flag from the ESM which defines it (and all mods that alter it). It ends up in the bashed patch too. I can confirm that making the suggested edit fixes the issue.
  11. Victor may not actually be in Novac either - he wasn't when I got there. When I did a new Goodsprings start with Alternate Start, I saw Victor for a fraction of a second starting to move along the road past the Saloon as I appeared outside Doc's house then he was hidden by Alternate Start and faded from view. I just happened to be looking at the correct spot to see him.
  12. Thanks for explaining about the perk conflicts. I have actually started a new playthrough today and will see what happens when I hit level 4 again. I will take a level up save and do some tests. If it still does it, I may just ignore that perk and give myself something else. I can always duplicate its effect by altering the bonuses given by the magazines once I hit level 4.
  13. FNVedit loads the full list of mods perfectly with no Perks visible in the bashed patch but while I was going through the list of mods looking for anything to do with perks I did find some possible conflicts... Project Nevada - All DLC overwrites changes made by YUP - Base Game + All DLC with the perks Hearless and Cardiac Arrest. I wondered if some sort of Conflict Resolution patch was needed? There was another perk conflict between YUP - Base Game + All DLC and EMR - StealthSuitMkII with Stealth Suit MKII perk. I was wondering if it could be something to do with there just being too many perks? How many entries can there be in a perks table? So many of the mods add perks that could we be tipping over some limit?
  14. What is odd about Comprehension is that it is unmodified by anything - it is a vanilla perk. That was why I was wondering if there was a bashed patch issue with the perks. The game clearly knows about it since it will say it has given me the Perk when I add it and it appears in the available perks list (even if I have chosen it) but it won't display in the PipBoy list and won't apply its effects to reading books and magazines.
  15. OK, I have reinstalled FCO and NVR3 to make sure I had done everything properly with a new LOOT sort and Bashed Patch. I will check for mismatched bodies/heads when I next play. I tried adding the Comprehension perk with "player.addperk 31de1 1" and saw the message that Comprehension rank 1 was added. Despite a re-log it did not appear in the Pipboy list of perks. I still get the vanilla number of points from a book and magazine. I had Science 30, read a Big Book of Science and went to 33. Read a Programmer's Digest and went to 43. Comprehension is not present. For the Needs, I have no mods that are not listed in the guide. I do not have Imps More Complex Needs. I did however discover that I did not select Hardcore Needs when I created the character. The Guide did not mention this setting. I read about needing to eat/drink/sleep but also saw the ammo weight which I prefer to play without. I now understand that this is why I don't see the Needs increasing. I have two choices here - I can turn it on and have to manage ammo weight or I can leave it off and roleplay the eat/drink/sleep and I think this is what I will settle for. Sorry for the mixup on this point.
  16. I have not hit the DLC areas yet as I have just started a new game. I have certainly slept several times and woken up with 0% in all three values. I will check levelling and perk settings in the morning as the PC is off at the moment. I assume that since I have missed out on two perks already, a restart is in order? I had only dealtt with Primm and the first visit to Novac so it is no big loss. I can certainly do without Victor as long as he turns up eventually. I have to thank you for putting Willow in the mod list. I have already found the first quest throwing me a curve ball... The chaps she was asking me to follow have arrived at their destination (where, presumably, they have now teamed up with extra friends). I was not expecting the mod to be so well constructed. I am looking forward to seeing what she has me do next. Oh, one more issue... I know there will be neck seams which is why the necklace mod is in the load order but I have seem quite a few raider bodies with grossly mismatched skin colour between the head and body. One example was the chap in the Nipton General Store (who the Legion have tortured). He had the bruised and battered dirty body but a clean face (albeit with one black eye). I have seen several powder ganger corpses with coloured skin and white faces. Is this caused by something I have installed wrongly?
  17. I have noticed that my Drink, Food and Sleep percentages on my UI always stay at zero no matter how long I play for. Is this a factor of the game difficulty setting or do I have to turn on Needs somewhere? Secondly, the Comprehension perk is not being activated when I select it at level up. My choice is registered and I can close the level up screen but I am not being given the perk. When I hit the next level up, the perk was back again ready to be chosen and I only got the standard points from reading a Book. I have been diddled out of a perk point this way twice now and I am interested in awarding myself the points back (it is that or a restart). Other perks are being selected properly... it is just Comprehension so far that is not working. FNVedit shows no conflict with that perk but I wondered if a bashed patch issue was showing here? EDIT : I have remembered a third oddity which may be related to the alternate start I chose. Victor was not present in Goodsprings. I picked Courier and Goodsprings and started outside Doc's house but there was no sign of Victor, either around the town or in his hut. Is this usual? I am assuming I will next bump into him in Novac.
  18. Correct - fGrassStartFadeDistance is 18000, fGrassMaxStartFadeDistance is 7000, fGrassMinStartFadeDistance is 0
  19. The other issues for Neo are power demand and overclocking headroom. The AMD cards at the moment need a ton of power over the 970s and the 970s were seriously overclockable.
  20. It is all part of helping polish the guide - everything else is perfect and clear. Actually that makes me think... Wrye Flash reports many of the ESPs have their masters in the wrong order (presumably down to differences in LOOT and BOSS sorting). I think it would be good to either modify the LOOT sorting to be closer to how it used to be when the mods were developed (when we only had BOSS) or to deal with the master ordering in FNVedit. The catch is that you would have to do it as you go along before any ESP merges were done.
  21. I have turned off the bloom but left the other effects on for now. EssArrBee - it might be worth adding a line to the guide for the enbseries.ini to turn off the bloom with an advisory that if your pc is of lower spec that the main UseEffect option can be turned off too.
  22. It appears to be connected to the enbseries.ini EnableBloom=true. If I disable the ENBoost Bloom, the issue goes away but bloom is enabled by default. Should bloom be on or off? Another issue I am getting is the frame rate (780ti overclocked as per my sig). ENBoost reports around 45fps outdoors in Goodsprings but GPUTweak reports only around 50% GPU utilisation and 34C temperature. Turning the above bloom on or off makes no difference to the frame rate. Is it to do with the crossbow mod? I did read something about that.
  23. I believed that I had followed the F&L instructions with care but I am finding that outdoors there is a haze or blur over everything, particularly in the shadows. Here are a few screenshots (halved in size) that show the issue... The enbseries.ini has DOF off of course. I am not using an ENB, just the ENBoost. The game inis should be set to Ultra plus the edits mentioned in this guide. The (vanilla + DLC) game textures were optimised to 2048x2048 by the batch files. What should I examine first to fix this? EDIT : Here are my ini settings (DarnUI has its own ini in its MO mod folder)... https://www.dcoffey.co.uk/images/falloutnewvegas/enblocal.ini https://www.dcoffey.co.uk/images/falloutnewvegas/enbseries.ini https://www.dcoffey.co.uk/images/falloutnewvegas/fallount.ini https://www.dcoffey.co.uk/images/falloutnewvegas/falloutprefs.ini EDIT2 : looks like IE doesn't like the .ini format - you might need to File Save As to view the .ini files in a text editor.
  24. I last played FalloutNV a year or so ago and it was largely a vanilla game with a few texture mods. I have never played with anything like Project Nevada and all its UI element and I am a little overwhelmed by the options now available to me. I have successfully installed the game, have my bashed patch working and can get into the game fine with everything looking beautiful but I can see a fair number of overlapping UI elements which need to be moved. I also have not yet worked out the keybinds necessary for holstering weapons or turning on pipboy lights so I thought I would ask for advice. How do you lay out your UI elements? Could someone post a pic of their UI with everything on and say which elements they tend to leave visible and which they hide until combat or weapon draw? As a Leftie, I will have to move a lot of the binds since I can't use WASD. There are also a lot of new choices in the F&L modded game and I am just bewildered. I know Project Nevada changes VATS into bullet time but I have no idea which of the long list of PN and weapon swapping keybinds are what you would consider core and which are occasional use. Coming from Skyrim I am spoiled by SkyUI and `mapping hotkeys. What I would appreciate is some sort of overview of the critical keybinds for typical gameplay. Perhaps the following scenario... selecting your rifle and getting off a couple of shots in slow time, chucking a quick grenade or mine, swapping to a shotgun and then popping a stimpac or med. Do you tend to bother with Traits? I used to select Skilled for the slower xp gain but the PN balancing options in the MCM part of the guide slow down xp gain anyway. Thanks in advance for the help...
  25. I was wondering if any of us have been unfortunate enough to catch diseases since the new iNeed Dangerous Diseases ESP was used? I picked up Mild Rockjoint from a wolf bite about two ingame days ago. I am well rested, well fed and have visited three priests and still have the disease. I know that the Priests will allow the disease to regress but I wondered what was the trigger for the regression check? Sleeping? Time passing?
