Book Covers Skyrim - Lost Library
DanielCoffey replied to DanielCoffey's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
A couple of updates... I have got the levelled lists working perfectly. I have applied lists to all the relevant merchants, the vendor setup script is running correctly (and Run Once too). I am now in the balancing stage to make sure too many books don't appear at once. I have had to change a couple of expectations with the mod though. I will not be setting up a separate list of books to issue to Apothecaries or Blacksmiths because there are too few books of those categories to make it worthwhile. There were 5 new Apothecary books and 4 new blacksmith books but I would be pulling two of each out of that list to turn into Skill Books and those would be hand placed. Given how few books would be left in those lists, it is not worthwhile. The next thing is that the mod will require Dawnguard and Dragonborn but not Hearthfire. The Merchant chests and aliases for the DLC are compiled into the script so I will have to add DG and DB to the Masters list. This does mean that there will only be one version of the mod to maintain as I start adding in the treasure hunts and quests. What I thought were the Dwemer books will now not be added to any merchants at all - not even Calcelmo - as they are not all Dwemer but are the Developer Texts and will fall under a new category of Esoteric. Every one will be hand-placed and possibly involve hunts to find them. Some of these quests will be non-tracked. There will just be a note. If you don't find it or decide not to follow it through, there will be no quest cluttering your journal. It means no quest markers too (remember Morrowind?) but the books should be relatively valuable (for a book, at least). Back to making cover textures. -
SRLE + SkyRe: working with the Reproccer WIP
DanielCoffey replied to ipmlj's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
Regarding those two Book Covers Skyrim patches, my original intention under BOSS was that they would have a BUM rule of "BOTTOM Compatibility Patches". This would have placed them below both the Book Covers mod and the mod they were adding compatibility for. SkyRe of course changes the perks so those edits were skill book changes to fit the new perk trees. CCOR edited the text in a couple of crafting books. That was all. I hope this helps you work out their positioning. -
Book Covers Skyrim - Lost Library
DanielCoffey replied to DanielCoffey's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
I have divided the Vendors who will be getting the new books into General Merchants (like Belethor), Jarl's Wizards (like Farengar), Specialists (like Urag, Calcelmo or Brand Shei), Orc Wise Women and the Khajit Caravans. There will be a few exceptions. I am also considering giving sublists of books to some of the more eminent Smiths, Alchemists, Weapon or Armor sellers and fences. I have also decided which categories of books these people will have out of Cheap, Common, Religious, Valuable, Rare and Dwemer. Skill books will be specifically hand-placed and not appear in any levelled list. Now I want to ask how many books you would expect these people to have. I am proposing setting up the inventory such that a person will have a couple of rolls on a list at a low percentage rather than one guaranteed book. Say two rolls at 50% for a Cheap book rather than a guaranteed single book at 100%. That way there will be a chance of the Merchant having no new book though usually he will indeed have one book. Occasionally the player will be lucky and find that he does have more than one. As we move up the rarity scale I was going to lower the percentage so that there was more chance of none. At the top end I was going to make it so there would only ever be a chance of a single book. For example... Cheap - 2x 50% Common - 2x 50% Religious - 2x 40% Valuable - 2x 40% Rare - 1x 60% Dwemer - 1x 60% Does that make sense? -

DROPPED Stalhrim of Skyrim - Fixes (by SparrowPrince)

The installer is simple, easy to use and properly illustrated too. I opted for 2K textures (which have 1k uncompressed normals) and the semi-transparent appearance. -
ACCEPTED Book Covers Skyrim (by DanielCoffey and doccdr)
DanielCoffey replied to dstansberry's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Back when I inherited the mod, it was considered for Extended rather than Core. Firstly it was because the covers back then had a slightly more "modern" feel because some had pictures on the cover and then once I started working through the covers it was held back because the mod was updating very often as I added new covers and rationalised the options. Additional language support also caused frequent updates for a while. I now consider the mod to be complete (barring Unofficial Patch reflections of course) and my attention is now on the Lost Library mod so it would be good to think whether you feel it fits in Core or Extended now. I would advise the Standard saturation for non-ENB users and Desaturated if used with a "hot" ENB that increases the saturation. Neovalen prefers Desaturated in SR:LE. -
Book Covers Skyrim - Lost Library
DanielCoffey replied to DanielCoffey's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
Over the past couple of weeks I have paused in creating the textures and switched to the Levelled Lists. I have created the meshes for the large majority of the new books and this has allowed me to use TES5EDIT to set up the STATIC and the (bare) BOOK records for a total of 225 new books. There may be one or two more (such as the Fishy Stick Guide or the Blue Book of Riddles) but I am in two minds about those two since they have no real contents. Once I have finished setting up the remaining few BOOK records I will be dropping the books into the appropriate Levelled Lists and adding appropriate gold values to them. Next I will look at the Developer Texts and decide which of them are suitable for inclusion. There are some good stories in there but plenty come across as semi-insane ramblings. After that, I need to fill the BOOK entries with the text content of the books and laboriously go through each one to check the layout and formatting - I hate orphaned words over page turns. This will involve flipping between the CK and the game, making changes and then checking the revised layout. If there is a better way to do this, I would very much like to know it! Then I have to decide which are skill books, alter the textures to add the spine indicator, add the relevant skill in the CK and then adjust the values of those books. Once all that is done, the long haul of creating another 150 textures will begin. Only then will I be close to an initial release of the mod. -
SKYRIMLE Dragon Stalking Fix by sevencardz
DanielCoffey replied to Kuldebar's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I have successfully tested the Stalking fix today on a young save. Here's what happened. Mod List : current SR:LE with Arissa, SPO - No Homes, Breezehome FullyUpgradeable. I had cleared the usual bandits around Whiterun, dealt with the western watchtower and then headed over to Ivarstead. About 200yards outside Ivarstead, a random Dragon attacked and killed Lydia *shakes fist at Deadly Dragons*. I used Resurrect because I really wanted to keep her. I proceeded into Ivarstead, traded a little and slept in the Inn overnight. I quit Skyrim for the day. Today I loaded that save and the dead Dragon was waiting right outside the Inn for me and had clearly moved from its position outside the village. I made a save at this point. I downloaded and activated the Dragon Stalking Fix and placed it below the Unofficial Patches in my load order. On reloading the save with the corpse outside the Inn, nothing appeared to have changed. I went inside and outside but the Dragon was still there. I entered the Barrow and dealt with You-know-who inside and when I emerged, the Dragon corpse was gone. Perfect! -
Daedric/Aedric artifacts mod thoughts
DanielCoffey replied to Crimson13's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
Have a look at the Daedric Dawnbreaker mod that Gopher has used in his current Let's Play. He has chosen the No Stagger version that gives off light. It is a very effective weapon against undead which is Meridia's sphere of influence. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/27789/? -

It will probably be some vamp/werewolf overhauls... but that is a bit of a rats nest of compatibility and testing. -
You were quite right. I had also missed a text change to The Anticipations and one in Liminal Bridges. Those and the Letter to Dreyla will be in my next update along with improved OBND Book Bounds. Cheers.

HF adds many resources that a lot of good mods use. You are preventing yourself from using many interesting mods by not having that one DLC. When the courier brings you the letter from the Jarl of Falkreath, drop it in a swamp and forget about it. Just enjoy the mods that use the assets in the DLC. I took the decision to only support a single ESP because of the work it was causing me. I was having to manage eight different language versions in four different ESPs plus the merged version in each language too. On top of that was the old "no notes" version... in each language and "no watermarked notes" too. It was too much. Folks would also report problems and I would have no way of telling what version they were running so I had to guess. I needed to rationalise it and dropped off the extra Notes versions first then switched to a merged ESP. When I took down version 2.8.3 the other day, it had been downloaded over 35000 times in a month compared to around 1000 for 2.6.4 over about three months. -

Looks fine in TES5EDIT to me too but... all Pile of Haralds contain Haralds and "Imperial Luck" (which is supposed to allow 100% chance for Imperials to find up to 10 more Gold). Maybe that is where it is coming from? You would need to set up ImerialLuckHarald and ImperialLuckDumac and use those in the piles instead. -

Yes you will need to stay with version 2.6.4. I suggest putting HF on your Steam Wish List and see if you can catch it on sale as quite a lot of player home mods assume you have it too. -
How to fix ice covered trees?

Remember that if you are using MO, you still need the NCC Downgrade patch from the MO Nexus page. Without it you will get this unpacking issue. -
OBND Object Bounds for books I saw the discussion a couple of pages back about small differences between Book Covers Skyrim and the Unofficial Patches and thought I would try to clear that up. You are correct that there are a couple of text differences in BCS, mainly to do with the four books that are touched with the Even Better Quest Objectives mod. They are in BCS but not in USKP. Doccdr did standardise book sizes within volume sets so that all books of a set are the same size and that will cause a few minor differences with the Unofficial Patches. I will be sending some suggestions to the UPP team shortly about this. I have inherited these changes from the early BCS versions. As for the OBND changes, I have just found that there are actually plenty of them that are in error and some that were missing completely. UDBP did address the ones that were missing from Dragonborn but both UPP and I have implemented some of them incorrectly. While looking at the Bookshelves Updated SKSE Script, I found a chance comment about the Book OBND data being inconsistent and I did find that there were two different OBND sets used for the standard books and the tall ones were also off. By going into the CK and selecting a test book and using "Recalc Bounds", I have found the preferred OBND set values. I will be updating Book Covers Skyrim with all new and accurate OBND values for my next release (no timescale yet since I have just pushed 2.8.4 out yesterday) and then passing all these changes over to the relevant UPP teams as a group bug report. There are also some books flagged as Notes and some that have a Note pick up sound too that I will highlight for review. For reference, here are the accurate OBND values (Journals and Notes were already correct)... Large book : -11, -15, -3, 11, 14, 3 Standard book : -9, -11, -1, 9, 11, 1 Journal : -6, -9, 0, 6, 8, 1 Note : -8, -5, -, 8, 5, 0 I hope that helps?

The newest English Language version of the USKP makes a lot of minor corrections to text in a significant number of books. I am in the process of updating BCS to support these changes and will pass the changes through to my Compatibility Patch Collection too. ETA : 1 day Existing users of 2.8.3 will be able to download the Language Pack and choose the English option to get the latest .esp which will save a full download as it will only be the .esp that needs updating. EDIT : Version 2.8.4 is now available. Compatibility Patch files will be updated in about half a day. -

That's fine - I just wanted to check your intentions there. It was a Skeleton Berserker in the Hall of the Dead in Whiterun. From a roleplaying perspective it would be simple enough to justify by the fact it could have been a relatively recent burial. -
ACCEPTED Skyrim Coin Replacer Redux
DanielCoffey replied to stoppingby4now's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Neo - should the Coin Redux be causing Skeletons to only spawn with Haralds or is it OK for them to have Septims as well as Haralds? I got a Skeleton Berserker today with both Haralds and Septims and noticed that since they have access to DeathItemSkeleton and LootDraugrRandom, it is possible for both to be on the corpse. Just thought I'd check. -

Approaching 100 books under the belt and I have created a new set of Initial Capitals to give an alternative to the Celtic Beasts that are currently in use. I trialled it in one of the Redguard books - Crendal's Drunken Song...
