  1. Draugr may need specific weapons to hit them effectively... I believe you may be lucky if you search the entrance of Bleak Falls Barrow or possibly the bodies of the Silver Hand. They do also look heavily armoured which you may not have the perks to deal with yet.
  2. I was checking for updated mods and wondered... is Skyrim Flora Overhaul v2.0c going to be considered for SR:LE or is the ugrids needed to get the best form it still stopping its inclusion?
  3. Speaking of Wrye Bash - the splash screen wasn't updated for 304.4 but the actual version is correct.
  4. It does work nicely. Configurable in MCM, various options can be toggled off if you don't like them. Gopher's video is here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FX8m_OXhE0
  5. The other cause of naked NPCs is any clothing list that has hooded cloaks or hooded robes. You will have to look at the name of an NPC, look it up in TES5EDIT and check the levelled lists that the NPC has access to.
  6. The inventory will be random. That early in the game (pre-elven), it may be better to make your own Leather armour. I suspect the balance should be more even than you have found this playthrough. Hide, fur and leather vs iron and a bit of steel. You would expect more light than heavy. Depending on the mods you are using you may be able to hunt and kill every creature Around Whiterun and also every bandit then either use what they have or break it down and craft Leather.
  7. The sign is fixed in 1.1 - thanks.
  8. Here is a picture review of the Books of Skyrim shop in Solitude. All shots are taken with the SR:LE mod list and Vividian 6.001 Vivid ENB. In-game it was mid-morning on a bright, clear day. Inside I used a torch to show more detail in the pictures but the interior was perfectly navigable without one. As you can see, it fits well with the building style of Solitude... Once inside, the owner is present to greet you at the counter. Many of the items visible are available to browse or purchase. As the inventory changes, so does the appearance of the store. These are not static items - they are actual stock! Moving into the store you come across the small reading area near the fire where visitors can sit and discuss their purchase. Beyond that is a small kitchen and family dining area with storage under the stairs. Also under the stairs is a small domestic alchemy station that any careful mother would use to keep herself and her daughter healthy. Selling books is neither a glamorous nor high earning profession so the daughter's sleeping area is basic to say the least... Upstairs in the private family area, there are some hard-wearing and simple decorations. In a corner are some pieces of Imperial armour, no doubt treasured mementoes of a husband either away on duty in the service of the Emperor or more likely buried in a distant part of Skyrim. And just to prove that she doesn't keep her daughter in poverty while sleeping in luxury herself, the owner is frugal with her own living arrangements too...
  9. I have had a good look at the mod and it works really well. It is beautifully integrated into Solitude, fits the street outside and is very tastefully cluttered. It is compatible with Book Covers Skyrim and will pick its books correctly from all the LItemBooks01All to LItemBooks04All and LItemBooksClutter lists. In my opinion, the absolute best part of this mod is that it displays the vendor stock around on the real shelves and book cases... this means that as the stock changes, so does the appearance of the shop! There is no custom dialogue for the storekeeper or her daughter but as a book shop it is perfect. I have pointed out to Manny that the signpost outside appears incorrectly in my game under SR:LE and that there is a shrub growing through the steps but Manny is aware of the shrub and elected to keep it there. The vendor is triggering a greeting dialogue too frequently but that can probably be tweaked. It *really* fits the area and game well. EDIT : I will supply some screenshots later today.
  10. I can just see it now... new meshes in SMIM, texture replacers, with or without animated "flies", 4K cowpats, standard dogturds or white, new texture for "Death Hounds Poop Too". Giant Mammoth dung... Dragon doo-doo with undigested bones. We would need a whole new "scat" category in the Nexus Search.
  11. I used the Brighter Interiors and Nights option in the new installer and immediately saw the improvement indoors inside the Helgen dungeon. I noticed the Bloom as I approached the exit was still fairly strong but outdoors it was fine. The weather was clear, 11am and very bright. Outside Riverwood looking up and to the right at the mountains, the clouds over the peaks were very bright indeed and largely blown out to full white but this was at almost noon on the very clearest bright day. Lower down or in the distance they looked exceptionally good. Performance was the same as the 6.xx betas in that at coc riverwood with DoF turned off I got a very good steady 50-52fps at 1440p. The smoke from Alvor's forge that was formerly too blue is looking very good now. There is a slight blue tint but it is very realistic and that issue is now fully resolved in my opinion.
  12. I have had a look at the .nif for some of the longer road sections and they add a LOT of polys. There are some seams in them that are just crawling with redundant vertices. Example : roadcurve01.nif (picking a worse-case example) There are two NiTriShapes in this - one which is the hump of the road bed itself and this is a good low poly model with about 650 vertices. The second is the cobbles and this one goes mad at nearly 30,000 vertices, a lot of which are redundant. It seems to be made up of several sections and they have joins that are more or less straight and are riddled with spare vertices. I would suggest the mesh could be reduced in complexity by a good 50% and still look very good. Here are the seams I spotted (and highlighted in PS) and they run across the middle of the stone tops so could be optimised heavily...
  13. There are some good covers in the Book Jackets Oblivion mod that will be coming to light soon. Take a look at these two books from the Shivering Isles... The Liturgy of Affliction and The Shivering Apothecary.
  14. I have seen it too... and so has Gopher who doesn't use SR:LE. It tends to be on wooden objects, particularly the carts as they enter view. It manifests as a flashing of intense light which flickers over the cart rapidly for a second as though someone was letting off magnesium firecrackers. I would say it was uncommon but not rare as I see it about once every couple of play sessions. I have not (yet) associated it with any imminent CTD.
  15. Thanks for the update - I will have a look later today at my usual test spots of inside/outside Helgen cave and the coc Riverwood spot.
  16. That would be lovely - we should probably take this to a PM now. I would love to see the mod list. If I have any DAO gameplay questions I'll start a fresh thread.
  17. Thank you - I will have a look and check the guide is still up to date. There is an LAA Aware tool listed on the JB3textures Nexus page. Is this effective for DAO?
  18. I have just picked up DA:O Ultimate in the Steam sale for £4.99 and see that there is a modding section on the Nexus for it. Could someone point me in the direction of a modding guide for DA:O please. Can ModOrganizer be used with it? I assume mods will broadly fall into retextures, bugfixes, gameplay and visuals categories?
  19. Wrye Bash shows that ORM Convenient Alsvid.esp needs its Masters sorting in TES5EDIT
  20. When the Intuos4 was first released, Wacom trialled a new "paper-like" surface that gave the pen the feeling of being on a textured surface. While it appealed to traditional artists, the digital creators hated both the feel and the nib wear it caused. Wacom finally capitulated and offered a replacement, smoother surface and set of nibs to all original purchasers. Intuos5 came with the new smoother surface as standard and I believe the current IntuosPro uses it too. I still have the original Intuos4 textured surface fitted which is now completely smooth from use which I actually prefer. The replacement surface is still in its retail packaging and they can be fitted by the end user (peel up a corner of the old surface with a sharp knife and steadily pull it up, wipe clean, peel backing off new surface, line up one edge and press it into place). The standard nibs are hard and will take quite a lot of wear but you can adjust the sensitivity in the drivers to adjust the pressure you need. They should be considered consumable but durable. The fancy nibs (sprung, felted etc) are less durable but I am STILL on the first standard nib I ever fitted and there are a good five or so left. The pens themselves are plastic of course and in the interest of full disclosure I have repaired the button on this one once a year ago and it is still going strong. Replacement pens are available but are a bit pricey. The Wacom store will tell you. I am fairly sure the current IntuosPro pen will work on the Intuos4 but the store will confirm. As I said... if the postage is covered, I am happy for you to give it a new home. If you later decide you want a new, warrantied tablet when you can afford one, just pass it on to another modder.
  21. No, it is not that one. Wacom rebranded their products recently. The current Intuos tablets were the Bamboo entry-level ones. The current Intuos Pro tablets were called the Intuos4 or Intuos5 and these are the professional ones. The Intuos4 Medium that I have is this model... https://www.engadget.com/products/wacom/intuos4/medium/specs/ Since I have used it well for a couple of years, I would not be asking much for it at all and providing the postage costs were covered properly (and I could easily get a good estimate given an address via PM) I would just be happy to know it was going to be appreciated. I expect to be in a position to purchase the replacement within a couple of weeks and can't let this one go before then.
  22. Leather would pick up staining from hair oils in the vicinity of the head which would make it interesting to create. The X stitching on finer materials would probably be changed to something smaller such as diagonal stitches... unless the Xs are just supposed to be decorative.
  23. I must admit I am getting used to the Knockout effect in gameplay. I don't use it myself (yet) to bypass NPCs but the way it changes how Followers work is interesting. I have taken to keeping Healing Touch hotkeyed so that when something KOs Arissa I can chuck her a heal, yell at her and get her back into the fight. It also means searching among the bodies to find which one is her. As I am low level, the only difference between the appearance of her corpse and the bandits is the name.
  24. The current version of NPC Knockout Overhaul needs a BUM rule as it is not recognised by BOSS. Should we be using the (Protected) install option so that essential NPCs can't be killed?
  25. Aiyen - what country are you in? I will shortly have a Wacom Intuos4 Medium which will be available second-hand with its original packaging, all accessories and a spare surface and could come to an arrangement regarding shipping to, say, the EU. I am based in the UK.
