  1. I would like to try and understand more about the two types of AA that are recommended in the current SR:LE guide where Vividian ENB is used. The current advice is for both Edge AA and SubPixelAA to be set to true. I am interested in knowing what overhead comes with each of these and whether, given a 1440p monitor, I would be better off with just one or both AA methods. My current framerate in and around Helgen is in the mid 40s at 1440p and everything on (ENB, DoF, AA - the full works). If I drop the DoF I move to the low 50s.
  2. In that case it is not working as intended at the moment on my install. If I clean the servers out of the list and re-download a file, it is repopulated with exactly the same list and it never changes, no matter what files I retrieve. If I manually download a file I can see a much larger list. Is there a setting or log I should check for permission errors in this process? MO is running as admin under Win8.1
  3. Cheers - and as I said in chat, I was not running MO as Admin either which caused those errors. All solved now.
  4. I am at the point of installing SUM and I was wondering... does it get installed in the Skyrim data directory or is it supposed to be treated just like any other MO mod? When I put it in as an MO mod, I didn't see the list of mods to be patched and when I put it in the Skyrim data directory I did see the list but got errors when I ran it. When I run SUM, Dual Sheath Redux fails saying that the DSR ESP is missing its masters (Skyrim.esm and Update.esm) which is not correct because I can see them. Wrye Bash doesn't report any errors on that subject. EDIT : I should add I am using Win8.1 and have JRE installed. I also am using Kaspersky Pure 3.0 antivirus if that makes a difference.
  5. The first 768/256 options are designed around the SKSE 1.7.0 alpha and actually allocate 512Mb and 256Mb respectively. Setting 512/256 when using SKSE 1.7.0a allocates 256Mb and 256 Mb (same as the default) and have no effect (and hence no crashes). Setting 768/256 when using SSME rather than SKSE overallocates memory and may cause crashes. Make sure you are using SKSE correctly as the guide instructs and not any other SSME or similar mods.
  6. I am currently in the process of setting up a new PC for gaming and need to migrate my Photoshop CS6 license from OSX to Windows. I am waiting for my replacement install media from Adobe. I should be able to resume work on this later this week.
  7. If you want a disease overhaul, try Diseased from the Nexus.
  8. I understand that the list of Nexus Servers is supposed to be populated when MO downloads files after signing in but I am not seeing many of the premium servers in the list and I would expect more. Is there a way to force the list to repopulate? I have attached the list of servers from the Modorganizer.ini with all the weird characters edited out
  9. RESOLVED - a clean install of both Win7 and Win8.1 is missing the DirectX9 Runtime Library. The instant I installed it, voila - Skyrim logo and a full glorious cart ride with ENB present!
  10. A clean install of Win8.1 didn't help and surprisingly neither did going back to Win7 either. I have now tried both Win7 and Win8.1 clean with no anti-virus or other fluff. I have tried the nVidia 332.21 and 334.89 drivers with no change. I have made sure I am running on a clean copy of Skyrim and the result is totally consistent through all testing. I have run the Heaven and Valley benchmarks to stress the system and have run MemTest86+ for an hour to check the memory and all hardware tests pass. It must be down to how I am trying to use the ENB so I will go back to basics and try it again on my Win7 install.
  11. Tomorrow I will do a totally clean 8.1 install with no addons and see how it behaves. Even though I have stopped tasks in the Startup list I can still see them in task manager after a reboot so something is up.
  12. I disabled everything except Kaspersky that was in the Win8.1 Task manager Startup list and it still crashed in the same way.
  13. Using the Injector version rather than the wrapper does not change the CTD at all.
  14. I am setting up a clean Win8.1 build here for Skyrim and am getting a CTD very early in the game loading process when an ENB wrapper DLL is present. I need help tracking down the culprit. I can reproduce the issue on Vanilla Skyrim loaded from Steam with only the 0.251 ENB dll and inis present. Symptom - CTD immediately after the Bethesda logo fades out when ENB dll is present. Skyrim - vanilla, no mods, launched via Steam. Also does it launched via SKSE through MO. SKSE - CTD occurs with both SKSE 1.07.00 and 1.06.16 ENB - Wrapper version - CTD occurs with both 0.236 and 0.251. Does not occur if ENB is disabled through ENB Manager Hardware - ASUS ROG Maximus VI Formula, Intel 4770K, 16GB RAM, nVidia 780 Ti 3Gb at 2560x1440, drivers 334.89 Software - Win8.1, Kaspersky Pure 3.0 (still crashes when AV and Firewall disabled), some ASUS ROG tools The sequence of events is this... I start Steam, I click Play and get the Launcher. I click Play and the fullscreen goes black. The Bethesda logo appears along with the ENB white status messages for 0.251 and the GPU is correctly identified. The Bethesda logo fades out and the game immediately crashes. I have posted my enblocal.ini over on the ENBSeries forum on the 0.251 thread but folks seem to think it is a background task messing with the ENB. Any clues to start diagnosing this?
  15. If you look in the ENBManager where your Unreal Cinema inis are, you will see enberies enbeffect.fx.ini and in there is EnableLetterboxVignette=true. Change it to false and re-apply the Unreal Cinema settings in ENBManager.
  16. You could move the MO downloads folder to the HDD once you had the majority installed.
  17. My current 7950 struggles with an ENB too but I do play at 1440p. It has been the main driver for me to upgrade to a water-cooled 780ti. Noobsayer - Boris frequently squeezes in optimisation in later versions of the ENB .dll so being fairly up to date can bring benefits.
  18. Skyrim doesn't play nicely with a pair of graphics cards. Have a look at a single AMD 290 or an nVidia 780. With a 1080p monitor and ENB you should get around 45-60 FPS in most areas. Going to 1440p will need an over clocked 780Ti or a 290X to match that fps with most ENBs.
  19. I really appreciate the feedback, thanks. I was leaning towards that option myself. Since there are 5 books per skill in Skyrim out of around 430 total books (not counting the Oghma), I was thinking of having 2 new skill books out of the 200-odd new books for the purposes of balance. Here is a little teaser for the Morrowind junkies. It is just a proof of concept and does not represent where this book will be placed.
  20. I am in the planning stages of a new book-related mod which I am calling "Book Covers Skyrim - Lost Library" and I have some early questions for you all that will affect the direction I take with the mod. The Brief ====== Bring new covers in the style of Book Covers Skyrim to a very broad range of books from previous Elder Scrolls games as well as some of the Developer commentaries. I am aware that this has been done before in Books Books Books and the Tamriel Compendium but I will be creating all new covers. Add the more common books into the Levelled Lists for Merchants, Bandits and Container Loot. Add rarer books to specific book-related Merchants or "experts". These could be Alchemists, Priests or leading Craftsmen. Hand-place common books of poetry, plays and stories in places where it is logical to do so but without creating conflicts. Hand-place rare books in hard to find places such as dungeons or wilderness where it is logical to do so. Examples would be Michael Kirkbride's commentaries on the Dwemer inside Dwemer dungeons or museums. Add some quests and treasure hunts to do with books. Examples might include a Note found on a dead Thalmor agent indicating banned pro-Talos books in a hidden location or a map to a lost cache. Feedback Needed - Skill Books =================== The key piece of feedback that I need at the moment is whether I should make any of the new titles skill books or not as it affect the artwork for the covers. As you may know from Book Covers Skyrim, there is a star somewhere on the spine of books that will grant a skill point. This, in conjunction with mods that allow books to be read later mean you can choose when (or whether) to read skill-affecting books. I have to decide now whether I will be adding a couple of books for each skill or not. I then have to consider compatibility with mods like SkyRe. As I see it at the moment, the choices are... 1. No stars and no skill books. One version only - No Skill. 2. No stars but skill books optional. Three versions available - No Skill, Vanilla Skill or SkyRe Skill. 3. Stars added and skill books mandatory. Two versions available - Vanilla Skill or SkyRe Skill. Option 1 is the simplest and has no conflicts what so ever. Option 2 gives players the most choice but also may cause some to miss the visual clue that a certain title is a skill book. Deviates from the Book Covers Skyrim mod experience. Option 3 means the visual appearance reflects the content but alternative covers would be needed for the few Wayfarer skill books for SkyRe (the current SkyRe patch for Book Covers Skyrim does not include alternative textures for the Wayfarer books). This is not a serious overhead as I can plan for it now. So there you have it. I need comments and feedback on that issue before I continue much further. I will have other questions about placement and concealment of books but I wanted to nail down the skill books choice first.
  21. One problem about Mining Makes Noise is that it may alert enemies when their own allies are mining, not just the player. You will see with the Traps Make Noise script that enemies will come and investigate swinging axe traps when they activate with humorous consequences. Since so many NPCs in dungeons are mining, their allies will be running all over the place to check who is doing the mining. To be honest, Mining Breaks Sneak may be a better idea.
  22. Yes - in the Old Files section you will see the 2.6.4 Separate ESP version that will remain there. It contains everything that is currently in the 2.8.2 Legendary release but in separate ESPs.
  23. As far as I can remember, HQ Paper provided textures for the books (as well as all the other stuff) but I created my own DXT1/DXT5 textures in the Optional Paper Textures. I haven't checked for conflicts recently.
