Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
DanielCoffey replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
I have a question about the contents of the "Barrel" containers that you see all over the place... I have a vague recollection from my last play through that the amount of food in them was reduced and that you tended to find clutter in them as well as some spoiled food - things like empty waterskins and so on. At the moment I am only finding raw vegetables and the odd bit of salt. Which mods in the current SR:LE influence the contents of those barrels (iNeed I assume)? Was there another mod in the past that I am thinking of that is no longer included (perhaps RND)? -
I had two issues today during my first serious exploration outside Whiterun and I don't know yet if they are due to Conflict Resolution, mis-tagged ESPs for the Bashed Patch or missing Compatibility Patches so I thought I would ask here and then go 'sploring in TES5EDIT... 1. Incorrectly labelled magic items. I found Iron Gauntlets of Minor Alchemy on a merchant which were described as "Increases Stamina by 16 and Health by half as much." I also found a Ring of Minor Lockpicking which was described as "Blocking is 8% better and one-handed Weapons hit 8% harder". I have definitely found some correctly labelled gear - in fact some of the Wintermyst items (Amulet of the Maze and similar) are appearing correctly. It is not all items - just a selection. 2. Armour not being improved even with correct Material Perk. I have the first Smithing Perk as well as Material: Leather and Material: Steel and when I found a Nord Mail Shirt (Immersive Armors I think?) which showed Steel Ingot as the required material, I was told "You lack the required perk to improve this item". I had a Steel Ingot in my inventory. I do have the PaMa XML update. So... where should I start looking to resolve these two issues? == EDIT : Looking at the magic items, it seems that for the Magic Effects, PerkusMaximus_Thief renames the Fortify Lockpicking (+lockpick) enchantment to Guardian (+block +onehanded). I may have to search to find why I have the description from one part and the effect from another. EDIT2 : It turns out to be a Bashed Patch tagging issue. You can see it in Armor \ 00100E17 EnchRingLockpicking01. It looks lie PerkusMaximus_Thief.esp needs Bash Tagging. Which tag should I apply to what? EDIT3 : Skyrim Coin Replacer Redux of course does not carry forward the PerMa Gold weight but that can be tweaked for personal preference.

SKYRIMLE Realistic HD Mushrooms (by Halk_Hogan_PL)
DanielCoffey replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
There are mesh changes in the mod which account for the change in appearance - there are roughly 1000 vertices in the new model which is reasonable. As an OT, it is possible to find MysteryModder's Realistic Mushrooms given a bit of GoogleFu but those were just retextures. It will be nice to see where this mod goes. -
One more issue to be aware of... the latest SR Conflict Resolution.esp will need loading in TES5EDIT and having the Sort Masters function run on it. Wrye Bash reports that this is needed.

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Just a heads up for folks planning today's updates - KS Hairdos is a 933Mb download. For me, the Mirror 1 site was reasonable at 1.5MB/s, 10 mins for the lot. Be careful what you click on because some of the mirrors want you to install "download accelerators". -
I used the MO Information page and moved it to the Optional ESP tab, just like Neo suggested we did with the Merged ESPs. That was it was still available if I had made a mistake.

Give me a little time and I'll write one up - just got up here. Right - the first thing I did was update my Java to version 8. That did of course require me to point SUM to the new java version inside MO. I did this because of reports of Java 8 being faster on the PerMa patcher. Next I looked at Load Order. The link in the first page of this thread is excellent. I was starting from today's SR:LE plus a few minor mods that I had added such as the odd follower and some texture/window replacers which had no impact on SR:LE. BUM is our friend here. I had to move Guard Dialogue Overhaul to TOP DLC Fixes. This moved it above the mods that PerMa was expecting next. GuardAnimations GDO.esp simply followed GDO without intervention. Next I added the PerMa main files and used the following BUM rules... PerkusMaximus_Master.esp AFTER Cloaks.esp PerMa Expansion 1 - Wintermist.esp AFTER PerkusMaximus_Master.esp PerkusMaximus_Mage.esp AFTER PerMa Expansion 1 - Wintermist.esp PerkusMaximus_Thief.esp AFTER PerkusMaximus_Mage.esp PerkusMaximus_Warrior.esp AFTER PerkusMaximus_Thief.esp I added the PaMa files (and XML update) and then added the following BUM rules... PerMa_Survivalism.esp AFTER Alternate Start - Live Another Life.esp Pre PaMa WAFR CCOR Patch.esp AFTER PerMa_Survivalism.esp Pre PaMa CCF Patch.esp AFTER Pre PaMa WAFR CCOR Patch.esp Pre PaMa SiC Patch.esp AFTER Pre PaMa CCF Patch Pre PaMa BoYD Patch.esp AFTER Pre PaMa SiC Patch.esp ProperWeaponScale.esp AFTER RaceMenuOverlays.esp RaceMenuPluginXPMSE.esp AFTER ProperWeaponScale.esp I ran BOSS and checked for unknown ESPs and checked against the PaMa suggested Load Order. This is where I located the copy of 1nivWICCloaks.esp that PaMa adds and moved it to the Optional folder to stop BOSS complaining. I checked the Uncapper that PaMa adds. We already have Uncapper in SR:LE of course but this adds a new .ini I ran Wrye Bash on my Bashed Patch. I ran SUM on ASIS only. I used the Data tab of MO to drill down to the PaMa batch file that had the 1024 heap space since MO is 32-bit and added it to the list of tools in MO. I ran the PaMa batch file and waited. In my case it was 8 minutes on a 4.5GHz processor and it appeared to only use 1 thread. I added more BUM rules... PatchusMaximus.esp BOTTOM Dynamic Plugins Dual Sheath Redux Patch.esp AFTER PatchusMaximus.esp I ran BOSS. BOSS now reports a few extra unticked ESPs which are from the WB merged ESPs. I ran SUM on DSR. I ran BOSS. After that I had no BOSS errors. I then started a new character and followed the SR:LE Character Creation setup including the new Race Menu weapon placement. Here is my current mod list and load order... MOD LIST : https://www.dcoffey.co.uk/images/misc/modlist.txt LOAD ORDER : https://www.dcoffey.co.uk/images/misc/loadorder.txt

Quick question... SR:LE advises using the 1nicWICCloaksCRAFT.esp for Winter is Coming but PerMa Compatibility includes a copy of 1nivWICCloaks.esp... how do you advise I resolve this?
-
Thanks darkside for giving me the push to try PerMa on SR:LE - it worked fine. I am certain I have a few little issues to iron out and want to check my load order but overall it was smooth. For what it was worth, the Patch took only around 10 minutes rather than the reported hour on some video guides (probably since SR:LE doesn't have Immersive Weapons) although that was with Java 8 and my overclocked CPU. I noticed the CPU was only running a single thread so was pegged at about 16-20% load.
-
A question for folks who have tried PerMa... assuming a starting point of the current SR:LE, are there any SR:LE mods that PerMa really complains about or are we pretty much fine given the correct load order and patches?

Paper objects such as Map of Dragon Burials
DanielCoffey replied to DanielCoffey's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I did think about aging the rubbing and then thought... it is new. She has just made it. Sure she scrounged a piece of old parchment from Farengar but the rubbing itself would be fresh. -
Paper objects such as Map of Dragon Burials
DanielCoffey replied to DanielCoffey's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Map of Dragon Burials is a new retexture of the rubbing of the Dragonstone that you will first encounter on Delphine's table. This is a simple texture replacer that does not contain any meshes or ESP files so will not count towards your 256 mod limit. -
Paper objects such as Map of Dragon Burials
DanielCoffey replied to DanielCoffey's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I am about to release my retexture of the Map of Dragon Burials (000BBCD5) and thought I would show you how I approached the task since I have altered the texture slightly. In the original, the texture was 512x256 and was a grey chalk rubbing of the Dragonstone with some markings in charcoal showing the burial sites along with the sequence of the opened ones. The HDDLC upped the texture to 1024x512. I have elected to make my new texture 2048x1024 since it is a large item of the Main Quest and only occurs once. My first issue was that the creator of the original was right-handed and I am left-handed. This makes quite a difference dealing with stokes across a page. I tried for a whole evening to re-create the grey charcoal effect and had to admit defeat so switched to what I would call a walnut stain. In the original, the writing appeared to be in crayon and I have switched to ink. The first two screenshots below are of my new 2048x1024 texture and the third is the original HDDLC 1024x512. The mod will be a simple texture replacer containing a single DDS file and therefore will not need an installer. I also don't think it needs packing into a BSA (with dummy ESP) as long as I give clear instructions as to which file to delete in order to deinstall the mod. Is there anything else you can think of before I release this? -
Paper objects such as Map of Dragon Burials
DanielCoffey replied to DanielCoffey's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I don't know how the loading screens are created but one way to check if the battlemap01.dds from that mod is being used is to check the lower left of the map. The HQ Skyrim Map V2 mod has a compass rose in the lower left next to the Province of Skyrim lettering. -
Paper objects such as Map of Dragon Burials
DanielCoffey posted a question in General Skyrim LE Support
I have been asked to retexture the Map of Dragon Burials that you find on Delphine's table and I would like to ask for thoughts on any other paper objects that have not yet been retextured. Since the HQ Paper mod is not currently supported (last update in 2012, original mod assets have been lost), I can't ask for the author to include the Map of Dragon Burials in it but fortunately simple texture replacement mods are stand alone or can be combined easily. What paper objects do you know of that still need redoing? I have covered the Treasure Maps in Book Covers Skyrim (including the Stahlrim Source Map) but I understand that there is a Hearthfire paper object too? ==== 1. Map of Dragon Burials Source mesh : meshes/clutter/dragonmap/dragonparchment01.nif Source texture : textures/clutter/dragonmap/dragonparchment_d.dds Source normal : textures/clutter/dragonmap/blank_n.dds Original : 512x256 with alpha. No normal map. Proposed : 2048x1024 with alpha I am proposing making the new texture quite large since it is a key plot item, only a single copy exists at any one time and it is scaled quite large on that table. You can also pick it up in the inventory so it needs to look good on the inventory screen. -

Problem uploading to Nexus with IE11
DanielCoffey replied to DanielCoffey's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I would prefer to stick with IE for now but I wondered... has some security/java/flash setting changed in the past few months that could cause this behaviour? It used to work fine. If it helps pin it down, I can fill in the Upload form fine but as soon as I click the button, the timeout begins ticking and the file is not submitted. -
I am trying to track down the source of a problem I am having recently to do with uploading mod files to the Nexus. It only occurs on my main PC running Win8.1, IE11 and Kaspersky Pure. It has only started being an issue in the past few weeks. I have been able to upload mod files on this machine so I assume some setting has been changed which is now preventing me uploading. It is not an issue on my Mac Mini running Safari. I fill in all the Add File information and hit the upload button. The screen freezes for about 30s then times out with a "This Page is Unavailable" Windows message. Watching the Network traffic shows that no attempt has been made to start the upload. The issue is consistent and happens every time. I would like to work out what is happening so that I can carry on using my main machine rather than having to transfer the files to my Mac, preferably without changing browser. Is it IE11? Is it Java/Flash? Is it Kaspersky?

Is heavengames.com closed? [SOLVED]
DanielCoffey replied to DanielCoffey's topic in General Game Discussion
Aha - it is back. When I looked on isitdownrightnow.com, it reported that the site was down for everyone. -
I was attempting to visit the Emperor Rise of the Middle Kingdom section of www.heavengames.com today and for the first time in years, it was unavailable. A check at isitdownrightnow.com said the site was not responding and I wondered if I had missed a message about the site's closure or if it was just one of those temporary things. Perhaps the annual fee was missed? Perhaps it is hosted on a personal computer and the power is out?

In the UK, Scan.co.uk offer a strictly optional accidental damage insurance on components. If the stuff was DOA then you are obviously covered anyway but if you think you might be unlucky enough to screw it up during installation then you can elect to take the insurance at the time of purchase. When I was building a water-cooled system, I took it since it explicitly mentioned water damage. I was also removing air coolers from the GPU and fitting a water block. If you take "reasonable" precautions, then they will just RMA and refund if you kill otherwise perfectly healthy kit during the cover period. When I built a small NAS, I was just assembling air-cooled components without modification so I did not take the cover and relied on the standard warranty. The EU has more robust consumer protection than, say, the States and this can be relied on to protect you if items are DOA.

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
DanielCoffey replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
There are a few scuffles over appropriateness of distribution at the moment due to the original author electing to hide the original mod - might want to wait for clarification of permissions to settle before using. EDIT : TheUnexpected has now clarified the permission from Nuska. -
These books are touched by Book Covers Skyrim as well so let me know if you feel there is some interference from my mod. Subbed to this thread to wait for replies.

The good thing is that the 970s are energy efficient. I would advise using the following calculator website as a guide https://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp but it does not cater for overclocking the GPU. Most power supplies are in their sweet spot for efficiency vs noise at around half load.
