  1. Yeah, I'm not really sure how to go about it, since I'm not an actual STEP Staff member. I don't know whether the STEP guide gets updated retroactively, but it seems like that's what should be done. I'd do it, I'm fairly sure I know how, but it's definitely above my pay grade, for now. Problem seems to be that the Staff are always quite busy, so don't have time to go through and test things extensively to be able to fix the guide quickly when things like this happen.
  2. That's my fault. Hearthfire Chimneys name changed, everything got updated to reflect the change, realised the mod was different so updated the recommendations to point at the old version, didn't realise I'd need to update the LOOT rules. I'll fix it right now. Thanks for reporting it SJ.
  3. Yeah, those files seem to have been removed. I know exactly what you mean about wanting to follow all the instructions. Hopefully it's all clear enough for everyone to follow until the guide gets updated properly.
  4. The order needs to be tweaked slightly due to EDT and EDT2 being combined. Easiest way for now, imo, is: Install HD Enhanced Terrain (mod 7 from section 2.G. Landscape & Environment) when STEP says to install Enhanced Distant Terrain 2;Install The Ruffled Feather. Do not select any of the options, or select None, except the following;EDTMoss RocksStalhrim of SkyrimTerrain BumpIn The Ruffled Feather, hide the file textures\landscape\fieldgrass01_n.dds;Install Enhanced Distant Terrain 2 - Dragonborn;Install Moss Rocks - Dragonborn as normal when it appears in STEP.
  5. Some things that might help relieve your workload a tiny bit: If Ruffled Feather replaces EDT2 in the install order, all conflicts seem to remain as they were, except The HD Enhanced Terrain page will need to be updated to hide /textures/terrain/noise.dds, or move HDET up the load order to before RF (which seems to be simpler.) I don't see anything conflicting with QWM, is there any reason some mods are higher up the install order in STEP, other than conflicts which are shown in the MO information window? EDT2 DB also doesn't seem to conflict with anything other than HRDLC, so could stay where it is, or move out of conflicting graphics to it's rightful place in Landscape. From Terrain Bump: textures\landscape\fieldgrass01_n.dds <Still needs to be hidden/removed in RF, but the next 2 files are not in RF. It doesn't SEEM like any other files would need to be hidden/removed.textures\landscape\mountains\mountainslab01_n.ddstextures\landscape\mountains\mountainslab02_n.ddsI have updated the mod wiki page as much as I can. I assume the esp is clean based on LOOT, it seems Lore friendly, and I'm pretty certain the textures are optimised. As always, feel free to smack me upside the head if I need it. This is all based on the fact that I think RF replaces only the following: EDT EDT 2 Moss Rocks Stalhrim of Skyrim Terrain Bump But doesn't replace: EDT 2 DBMoss Rocks DB I also installed Hairy Furry Pelts and I Hold Silver just for the hell of it. Will do a comparison some other time. It's 9am, I start work at 3pm and I haven't slept. Now is NOT the time to patch everything and fire up Skyrim
  6. Yeah, I see you are correct. The order of all related mods seems to have been extensively discussed in the EDT2 thread.
  7. Wonderful! Thank you very much Sir.
  8. That's what I get for trying to have a conversation from my phone haha. I'll explain better this time, using real screenshots. Here are the options when creating/editing a mod thread. It's a drop down box where the ONLY tags that can be chosen are: Fear & Loathing in New Vegas, mod, Skyrim Revisited, utility, accepted, testing, oblivion, Morrowind, Fallout 3, Fallout NV or Skyrim. There is no option to tag a thread with the mod category at all. It's impossible. When creating/editing a normal thread, such as this one, you can actually type directly into the tags box, and as you can see by the screenshot, it's possible to tag a thread with absolutely anything, such as mod author, category etc.
  9. Sorry, I meant on the mod page. I noticed it because I was looking at the 2.2.9.1 guide.
  10. Do you know of a good tutorial or guide on FOMOD besides the "for dummies" one?
  11. Prefixes are limited to 5 options, regular tags are limited to 9 options. When you click "add" it opens a dropdown with the same options as the prefixes, plus utility, accepted, testing, Fear & Loathing and Revisited. When adding tags in this thread, there is no "add" button in the Topic Tags box.
  12. After spending a little while trying to write out the Fomod instructions for this, nothing makes more sense than this, especially since 4 out of the first 5 options are irrelevant to STEP (I think). The recommendations page will be an absolute mess without a simple install. Would it be easier to strip out the parts of the mod we don't need and have an optional STEP file on Nexus instead? I tried learning how to make/modify FOMOD and gave up fairly quickly due to not being much of a code monkey.
  13. Is there a reason we don't follow SparrowPrinces recommendations regarding Quality World Map overriding EDT and EDT2? Just asking as I'm trying to figure out where Ruffled Feathers should go in the load order, and wondering if maybe this recommendation was missed somewhere along the way.
  14. Discussion thread: The Ruffled Feather by SparrowPrince Wiki Link Replacement all-in-one mod for: Enhanced Distant Terrain 2Enhanced Distant TerrainMoss RocksStalhrim of Skyrim-Fixesas well as some others that are not included in STEP. Includes an easy to use FOMOD installer updated for STEP by TechAngel85. Accepted for 2.2.9.1, and previous, due to the removal of the above mods from Nexus.
  15. When creating a new thread in the mod forum, there is a rules and conditions page that shows up as follows. This is a GREAT feature, but the rules don't exactly match the conditions of creating a thread. This isn't possible, as the "Topic Tags" only allows selecting one of 9 options, as opposed to a thread in this forum, which allows free typing to add tags. Not sure if this is intentional, but I believe the rules and conditions should have the two lines in blue removed if it is.
  16. This mod is actually called STEP Vanilla Optimized Textures on Nexus and in MO, but Optimized Vanilla in the guides on the mod page and in this thread. Very small difference, I know, but I'm sure we all know by now how picky I can be about these things
  17. From the screenshots, those walls look a LOT better! The shine on those first ones definitely looks a little bit silly.
  18. Curiouser and curiouser! Even when I disable every single mod, including Optimised Vanilla Textures, all the unofficial patches, skse, SkyUI, Stable uGrids, absolutely EVERYTHING, I'm still able to load even my Extended save game with no issue at all. [spoiler=Short image hosting rant]First of all, I just realised how crap Photobucket is. There seems to be absolutely no way to view my images on their own, without downloading them. Postimg is annoying me just as much though, as it keeps resizing my pics to 1280x720, even though I selected "Do not resize" and was uploading 1920x1080 images. That MAY be because I don't want to sign up there. I give up, imgur seems to work perfectly. Here is my screenshot! The rocks closest to the camera seem better defined in your screenshot, as well as the dirt beneath the characters feet, but over the river there seems to be a lot missing. The trees on the left are a SLIGHTLY different colour, not a big deal, but the trees on the right are completely different. There are a lot of rocks missing over there, but funnily enough, I don't seem to have any of the small "grass" plants over there. One thing I did notice though, your "grass" looks a lot better in the latest screenshot than it did in this gif from a few posts back. A lot of the other differences have disappeared as well, most likely due to them being taken at the same time of day, possibly due to using the same save file. Might be worthwhile finding a coc location to spawn into so we can get a comparison from the same spot without using the same save game. Not sure how much that might change things. I was already thinking about going through and checking which higher res mods I installed, and replacing them with the baseline versions, but now I'll also need to check which of the landscape mods I may have installed the baseline on, and replace THOSE with the higher res versions Since I wanted to check anyway, I'll list off a few of the landscape mods where I have the HQ or Baseline versions. [spoiler=List]Serious HD Retexture - Baseline (Most likely because the 2k version is half a gig. Will probably update to the HQ version at some point. Maybe when the new version is complete.)Skyrim Flora Overhaul - Baseline (I know you have the newest version, and that may have something to do with the difference in the "grass") HQ Enhanced Terrain - HQ (2k, not sure what you have.) Enhanced Distant Terrain - No idea, my download file is about 2.5 MB, there is no LQ/HQ listed in the guide, and the mod has been taken down. My guess is that like EDT2, there was only 1 version. Trees HD - Ultra (Probably unnecessary) As you can see, there wouldn't be too much variation there, but enough to make a difference. As for the blurring of the rocks, it could be coming from anywhere, ini's, driver settings, who knows. I definitely like yours better though. Rocks should definitely be crisp! One last thing, rather than create a character and go through all that hassle to test something like this, you can just ~coc <Location ID> right from the main menu. Spending a few minutes to figure out which Location ID to use would be much easier than whatever you did to get there Anyway, that's enough ranting from me. This post has taken me almost 3 hours, and I've done virtually nothing else since I got home from work. Hopefully we are almost done here
  19. There is an RSS feed for your watchlist in the wiki, however I could not for the life of me figure out how to set it up. Probably doesn't help that I have never used RSS before. You can find your token on your watchlist preferences page.
  20. Hmmm. Strange that the Vanilla saves wouldn't work. I'll try your saves tonight, but I get the feeling they may not work for me either. You really should get your setup onto modwat.ch so we can easily compare mods, order, and inis.
  21. Haha I don't think there's going to be any consensus here. If the section didn't seem to be mainly related to just graphics, I would say misc.
  22. Hi Scarla. Sorry for the gender confusion! Thanks very much for stopping by. Would you consider a compromise, using a slightly taller version of the old mesh? For me personally, I think that would be perfect. About halfway between the height of the old version and new version, but in the style of the old version. Of course taste is subjective, and everyone has an opinion. I'm sure the others will chime in with theirs as well.
  23. Sorry for the double post. Here are my saves for that location. Save 56 is the vanilla version, Save 57 is STEP Extended. I had to upload to Dropbox otherwise I would need to make one post per save due to the attachment filesize limitations. I'm not sure what the difference between .skse and .ess is, but I would just drop both of them in your saves folder, and rename if necessary to prevent conflicts with your own saves. Save 56 skse (Vanilla) Save 56 ess (Vanilla) Save 57 skse (Extended) Save 57 ess (Extended) Like I said in the above post, take a look in the saves tab in MO, and see if it tells you there are missing esps. It should mention a few, like Better Stealth AI for Followers, since I'm testing those, but they shouldn't interfere with this save at all. What you're really looking for is anything at all related to graphics. Based on that fact, I also would definitely not recommend using this save for anything more than a quick look. If you try to keep playing, who knows what might happen... EDIT: Pretty sure I ruled out the theory in the spoiler with a quick test. Even with max saturation my screenshots look the same when the saturation goes back down.[spoiler=Display settings]For anyone playing along at home, would screenshots be affected by the tweaks from 1.E.2 Display Calibration? That's the only other thing I KNOW would be different between our systems. I had to play around with my settings a LOT once I got a HDMI cable to connect my PC to my LCD TV. Such a pain in the ass, and totally not worth it, except for the fact that I couldn't figure out any other way to successfully connect my PC to my home theatre. One other thing, it MAY still be the weather/lighting. I had to force weather (fw) through the console as it was pouring down rain when I got there. I may have forced a weather type that is not meant to happen in that area. Taking a look via each others save should prove/disprove that theory though.
  24. https://wiki.step-project.com/TES5Edit#Recommendations
  25. I would have agreed except for the fact that those pixely patches are so shiny they're almost reflective. It's a shame it will never be fixed properly, and that the manual fix requires downloading both versions of the mod.
