Will do that later, not in a position where I can play atm I'm afraid. :)

My fps is locked at 30 and doesn't really go lower than that, I just notice stuttering instead sometimes. An area where I used to drop to ~27 stayed put at 30 now though. And yeah, I guess it should be there instead. :)

wanted Skyrim Bug Guide
Vond replied to torminater's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
This mod is a CtD waiting to happen. It has over 1000 UDRs, and tons of other mods try to edit the records that it deletes, so for a ton of people the game will just instantly crash with it running. I don't think it should be recommended at all. -
I think that your box is "good" but a just a bit short of "great" The save hang could also be uGrids related. Are you using default for that? If not, then I think it is Fri's suggestion in concordance with one or two of the mods you are running. Well it's good enough for me atleast, although I really SHOULD get some more RAM considering how dirtcheap it is these days. That shouldn't really impact performance in Skyrim all that much though, but the computer overall. Anyway, I do use the default ugrids settings, as I didn't feel that setting it to 7+ was worth the performance-cost. But yes, I do think that is the most likely cause, although torm's changes could have some impact on it aswell ofcourse (atleast it does lower performance a bit, but z-fighting is nasty so I can live with that for now)

To add to the list of tweaks, I ran across a document the other day that you can find here:https://www.docstoc.com/docs/113036856/skyrim_tweaking_guide_by_rookienoob-d4hlntm Now, most of the stuff in there is quite obvious, but at the bottom of page 4 of the document was a tweak I had never seen mentioned before, and that actually made quite a nice difference performance-wise. fLeafAnimDampenDistEnd=500.0000 fLeafAnimDampenDistStart=0.0000 The author claims that setting it to his recommended settings improved performance 20-30% and he calls it the "magic tweak". It is a tweak for people with CPU bottlenecks, and shouldn't really matter too much if your only bottleneck is GPU. This tweak changes how far away from the camera leaves are being animated. I didn't change it quite as drastically as he did, but I did put it down 50% from the Ultra-settings and so mine are now at: fLeafAnimDampenDistEnd=2300.0000 fLeafAnimDampenDistStart=1800.0000

Well, my game hasn't crashed due to those settings for sure. It doesn't crash on loading the save either, it just stops loading eventually (usually quite a bit above 1700mb of RAM used by Skyrim so it loads for quite some time). I think it's more likely what frihyland said, there is simply too much happening in the worldspace that all gets put in the savefile when saving outdoors.
-
Hm, I actually can't recall it happening prior to your tweak. But I'm not 100% sure about that. My computer is decent, but not "good". i5-760 @2.80ghz 4gb ram gtx 560-ti 448 I did follow your tweaks except that I kept ugrids at 5

Black Circles, z-fighting and texture shimmering
Vond replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Mind showing an image of your inspector settings? Mostly curious as to what you set your LOD bias to with those settings, especially the 1x2 SS + 4x MS setting (shouldn't need to use any LOD bias setting if the only SSAA is TRSSAA afaik) -
As an addendum to this, you should delete/remake the bashed patch every time you add a new mod to the loadorder with bashtags, or it can still cause issues with the current WB SVN version.

Black Circles, z-fighting and texture shimmering
Vond replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Hmm, I only had issues with grass-shadowing using ENB, and it's fixed in ENB 0.109 that was released 2 days ago. -
Been having this issue quite a lot, where I load a save and it loads fine for quite some time until it just...stops. Using Elys MemInfo I can see that the memoryusage just stops going up eventually, and the game will just keep showing the loadscreen forever until your force-close it. Now, I have *never* had this issue whilst saving in an interior, only in exteriors, but when saving in exteriors it seems to happen almost all the time lately. Anyone had the same issues and managed to solve it? I suppose it could be some mod that tries to execute a script etc that just hangs up, but I'm not sure.

Black Circles, z-fighting and texture shimmering
Vond replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Btw, any success in eliminating texture shimmering? The z-fighting is gone for me completely with the settings torm posted earlier, but I still sometimes notice annoying texture shimmering. :) -
SKYRIMLE The Chronicles of Steel -Skyrim- Realswords
Vond replied to Shinteo's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Yes, I included it in the based patch when I used it. -
I always look thru the STEP 2.0.1a document before posting, and it wasn't there. :)

Discussion thread: Ambient Seagulls by Tricolour Wiki Link Very, very minor "mod". It simply replaces three of the soundfiles that play when you are near a shore with new versions that have seagull cries aswell as the wave sounds. Very immersive.

Yeah I posted it over there aswell after I noticed that. :) -

AndalaBay is working on a port of Gecko for Skyrim which will help modders quite a bit (TES5Gecko here: https://www.darkcreations.org/forums/topi..._hl__gecko), but no, I don't believe anything similar to the TES5Edit conflict resolution or UDR/ITP fixes is being worked on actively, sadly. The discussions you referred to Monty are from february. We can always hope though, TES5Edit would make everyones lives so much easier. I would say that TES5Gecko will definitely help for this aswell in the meantime though considering one of the functions is to compare 2 different plugins side-by-side. -
Black Circles, z-fighting and texture shimmering
Vond replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
stoppingby4now: If by transparent image you mean the one that shows up when you "hug" an object such as a tree etc, it's due to the fNearDistance=25.0000 setting -
SKYRIMLE injectSMAA by Andrej Dudenhefner - Alternate AA
Vond replied to Holymartyr's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I was meaning to try using RLwC over RCRN so I could use SMAA (can't with RCRN due to it using FXAA until SMAA releases 1.3, they had stability issues with 1.2), but what's keeping me back is compatability with Transparency Supersampling. From what I've gathered, to use for example 4x Sparse Grid Supersampling, I need to use 4x MSAA aswell. With such settings already, adding SMAA on top of it seems moot. Anyone know if using 2x MSAA via inspector (or just 2x ingame AA) + SMAA would work with a 4x SGSSAA? -
DROPPED Ars Metallica - Smithing Enhancement (by Arthmoor)
Vond replied to frihyland's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Arthmoor is one of the best modders around in my opinion, and was in Oblivion aswell. Love all his work. His mods are always 100% clean and compatible with most things out there (not too surprising considering he also helps out with Wrye Bash/BOSS masterlist updates etc). Anyway, the mod only conflicts with mods that: Alter the recipes for the vanilla ingot formulasAlters the base smelter/tanning rack objectsAdds items to chickens/pheasants (made compatible via bashed patch however)I've been trying it out last 2 days. I use Complete Crafting Overhaul (smithing only version) and ACE Smithing module, and it has seemed perfectly compatible. Recommended. -
SKYRIMLE SkyTEST - Realistic Animals and Predators
Vond replied to Bealdwine's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Ah yes, I actually noticed this the other day aswell. Had a very specific crash that would occur every time I tried entering one of those fallen trees where there's a treasure hidden outside Riverwood. Removing Birds&Flocks solved it in every test I made. -
I doubt it will have much impact if any. In theory it should improve loadtimes a little bit as the files do not need to be uncompressed, but well.. Should be very minor. It's just nitpicking on my part most likely. :)
-
Why are you calling me torm twice in this thread now? ;) Anyway, Skyrim.ini does remain unchanged. I don't use Skyrim Unplugged and have had no problems whatsoever with making such changes. But yes, it does add a bit of extra complexity, which is why I wasn't sure if it should be added to the guide, atleast not as a "standard". Don't see why you'd need to do that though, copy&pasting the files in explorer from your Vanilla Extracted to your Vanilla Optimized works just aswell (did for me atleast) and you won't be overwriting anything. As for which files, it's the .png's inside ...\interface\books as DDSOPT would convert them into .dds from .png, which you don't want - and the small planar textures that are in the root of the textures folder, because DDSOPT would convert them in such a way that they would not show up ingame. The final one is hotiron01.dds inside the clutter\common folder and was confirmed by Ethatron. Trial and error to find out the others, but yes there is a list on the wiki now.

That's the point though, I don't want to keep Skyrim - Textures.bsa at all and I think it's the same for many others ;) Previously I did it like this: Run the fixes for the DLC textures.Optimize HRDLCs and the Skyrim - Textures files.Copy HRDLC2 files on top of HRDLC1 files.Copy the resulting files on top of Skyrim - Textures files.Cut&Paste the Actors, Architecture and Armor folders into a seperate folder (might've been another aswell, but look to get approx half the total filesize in GB moved away).Make two BSA files, one with the files you just Cut&Pasted and one with the files remaining. With a Compression value of 9 both should be approx 1.4-1.5GB.Name them whatever you like, then go into Skyrim.ini and replace Skyrim - Textures.bsa + add the other file to the list of BSAs.Profit.Now, instead of doing it that way I went with the loose files option this time for faster loadtimes and even more control over everything in Wrye Bash. With the 102 files missing, you'd need to keep Skyrim - Textures.bsa. If you get all the files however, you can simply remove Skyrim - Textures.bsa from Skyrim.ini and thus gain some extra speed on your loadtimes, since it won't need to read through a 99.9% useless .BSA files with nearly 19000 files in it. Anyway, that's my opinion and perhaps most people don't feel there's a need to "get rid of" Skyrim - Textures.bsa. :) (Infact it's even more than though, as you get rid of the BSAs for HRDLC's aswell).
-
Just redid my vanilla optimizations (had made it all into 2 BSAs before where files from HRDLC's overwrote the default textures etc, and wanted to keep it it out of BSA this time) and just wanted to comment on this. Skyrim - Textures.bsa has 18,670 files. After running DDSOPT and unchecking the files that should not be processed etc, it seems those files were not copied unaltered, and the optimized folder from those textures has 18,568 files. So that's 102 files missing. I assume the easiest solution is to then Copy&Paste the default textures on top of the optimized textures and just choosing NO when it asks you to overwrite, meaning only the file that didn't go through optimization will be copied over, but I didn't want to make this alteration to your wiki-page without confirmation and input.
