  1. The settings at the end, are those the settings you used for your results? I'm seeing on average, 2% improvement to GPU load, and ~3.6% change in memory usage. Is that noticeable in game play? It is also interesting in regards to the textures in Windhelm, where some details appear to pop out in the rocky areas, and the base textures look like those areas are smudged. Are you planning on running any tests on texture packs? Considering that a lot of Bethesda's textures will be over-ridden, it would make for an interesting test case.
  2. You did raise some good points when it comes to creating a texture pack that I have not thought about. However, if you had followed the early discussion in this thread, you would realize that the original images were being questioned as to how accurately they were portraying SRO. In any case, your approach to being constructive could use some work. While I understand that an artist/modder probably sees things differently than most, not everyone shares the same insight. And most people here do realize that pictures are not the most accurate way to portray the greater beauty that can be had in Skyrim. But pictures are the fastest way to get first impressions, and doesn't make them any less valid. If you want to help folks, continue to educate them, rather than criticizing them for not seeing things as you do, which is the opposite of being constructive.
  3. Wrye Bash throws an exception, but still continues on its merry way.
  4. @Starc Thanks for taking the time to come over and share your thoughts. However, I would kindly ask that instead of insulting other modders and complaining about how "others" judge textures, that you start a more constructive discussion about how you would evaluate textures. I know some of the earlier comments in this thread were against images that didn't look quite right to me having used SRO for awhile now. I think that was a fluke. Regardless, there will always be those that have their own opinion on what looks good to them.
  5. Just found out that if skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini are set to read only, SC crashes. D'oh.
  6. I've downloaded SC, but haven't even fired it up yet. Too many distractions lately.
  7. I'm curious. Was there new config options introduced in one of the recent patches, and if so, does Skyrim Configurator know about them?
  8. Been following this thread, but I'm more interested in what kind of quality loss there is. I have enough VRAM, so in no real rush to need to compress textures just yet.
  9. Beat me to it. :P I was about to pull my hair out at first because your Steam keys where were I expected them to be.
  10. I updated the script to look for the Steam install path. I have entries in GameUX as well for the games, and I believe that is related to the Windows Games folder. Steam has to be putting itself in the registry somewhere, and if it's not in the areas that I put in the script, I'd be curios to know where it put it. What version of Windows are you using? The paths I'm checking are: For 32bit: HKLM\Software\Steam\Valve - "InstallPath" valuename should be in there For 64bit: HKLM\Software\Wow6432\Steam\Valve - "InstallPath" valuename should be there The only thing I can think of is if you installed Steam only for your current user (can't remember if that's an option). In that case it would most likely be in another location and that would be easy enough to add. If that is the case, check under HKCU\Software, or under HKU\\Software. The later would suck as we'd have to get the user GUID, or search all subkeys.
  11. Those look great! This is also one of the reasons why I used banner mods early on as well. Will have to try these out.
  12. I thought back stabbers were supposed to use knives. Mine only uses arrows.
  13. You should be able to fiddle with RCRN to get it to your liking. TC has said he's working on something for RCRN.
  14. Unfortunately there isn't a way around that as far as I can tell. The hooks that are used to update user information occur either when the user first logs in and the account is created for the first time in MW's database, or when the user does a subsequent login later on. EDIT: I updated the OP.
  15. Duh...you are correct. How quickly I forget. :P
  16. Ye have been granted.
  17. I've done that countless times myself as well. We should start a Brotherhood.
  18. I agree with Bealdwine, a performance aspect would be very useful. While I find RCRN and Immersive Environment to provide the best pictures, they do so with a performance cost. RLWC is still great for it's no performance hit, and I would currently rank it #3 in looks. Also agree that indoor shots are needed to round out the comparison.
  19. The ability for followers to ride a horse along with you should've been part of the default game IMO. It really makes horse travel a tad bit useless when you have a follower and they can't keep up. I once had a follower take nearly a day to finally catch up to me. :P
  20. I just edited my post to account for spaces in the path that it gets from the registry.
  21. What is going on with your computers? :P Second person to not have that key. In any case, this will work. If it doesn't, your Steam installation is not correct. softlink.bat:
  22. Need to repopulate. There are more dragons than birds because the dragons are eating them all up. :P
  23. Very interesting. The differences between RCRN and Immersive Environment are subtle in most cases. Of all the screenshots, those two win hands down for me.
  24. Whether it was the right thing to do or not, to be fair, I can relate to how he feels. I've followed the comments on WIS off and on, and he was constantly getting bombarded by snide/hideous comments. There was even one case where a mod had to step in. With that much negativity for something you are trying your hardest to make right, I can't say I blame him.
  25. Version 1.3 is now up with improvements to locating Skyrim thanks to frihyland, and storing of the path should you enter it manually or via the Folder Browser Dialog. Removed strict checking for files so that it only checks for the existence of TESV.exe. If any of the files marked for permissions changes are missing, it ignores it and moves on. Also changed the Deny Write ACL to Deny WriteData so that the files can not be overwritten, but file attributes can be changed. For Wrye Bash users, you will no longer get exceptions when it tries to change timestamps.
