Try logging out of the forums, clearing cache and whatnot, then logging into the forums first, and then the Wiki. That usually solves it.Restating the following for clarity because the above recommendation is not correct, and I keep seeing folks suggesting this. The login process for the Wiki and the Forum are completely different, and in no way affect each other. Logging out of the forum will not affect ones ability to login to the Wiki. The primary reason that a user would be unable to login to the Wiki is usually that their primary group is not set to "Registered".

Concerning this topic, I think it's fairly safe to say that we won't be implementing a shoutbox. However, I have found a better solution for chat that integrates better into the website overall. While there is something to be said for conversations on the forum, chat services (in any form) still have value. For starters, you get the ability for instant help (so long as folks are on), an area for general chatter that usually wouldn't fill up the forum, as well as providing an avenue for us admins to login during a release and provide real-time support. With these things in mind, it is encouraged that any useful discussions be transcribed into a forum post should they be useful to the community. In fact, the new chat system which will be put in place soon provides a means of saving chat conversations as well as e-mailing them. It also allows sending files to other users, which can be useful for real-time testing.

That was the intent.

Whats with the important and normal threads in the mod suggestion section?
stoppingby4now replied to EisDrache's question in Forum Support
I must have missed any discussion on this, but I would have been (and am) against it. It renders the intent of Sticky Threads useless, especially when they wind up taking up an entire page. Having a page on the Wiki to track these from an administrative stand-point is far better for the short term, but ultimately mods to be tested need to be handled in the Mod Testing forum. -
GUIDE [WIP] DDSopt & Texture Overhauls
stoppingby4now replied to z929669's question in DDSopt Support
The tabs typically cover a page or so. In doing a quickstart tab I'd like to be able to reference portions of what is in another tab vs. the entire tab. Can headings be referenced below the level of a tab; e.g., can I directly reference the "Repair the HRDLC Textures" subsection?Unfortunately, Header Tabs doesn't support that, you can only link to the tab itself. If a tab's contents gets too big though, you can add links at the top of the tab to the headers. Example: [[#Repair the HRDLC Textures]] -

I had ran across the same thing awhile back, and it was determined there was a missing mip level after optimization. Looks like the same thing at play here. Those are my first DDSopt results, before Ethatron added the special foliage treatments, since these have an atypical alpha. Using the latest release with the settings on the wiki will give you better trees and foliage LODs ... improvement actually. That's good to hear. Looks like we need to update those images. -
My shameful performance with english

Haha...wait...wannabe? You're sick. At least till now, I can say I've never used that word as slang. But that reminds me of a commercial for some Mia sports drink or something recently. He's going over change in America, and I couldn't help but almost spit out a sip of tea when he said something along the lines of, "We changed Man bands to Boy bands. We gotta change that back." -

GUIDE [WIP] DDSopt & Texture Overhauls

HKLM is a system registry location and is locked down, so you do need Administrator rights to write to it (any user that has UAC enabled won't be able to write to it if the program doesn't initiate an elevation of privileges). But, the fact that the DDSOpt key exists and the settings aren't being saved sounds like a bug perhaps. I'd bring it up to Ethatron. -

Ahha! Thanks. I completely blew through that screen and didn't pay attention. :P It's good to see them finally fixing things that we had to rely on community tools for. -

GUIDE [WIP] DDSopt & Texture Overhauls

DDSOpt stores the settings under the Bethesda Softworks key in the registry, so that key probably doesn't exist. It should show up after running Skyrim for the first time. You can double check by launching "regedit" and looking for the following key (for x64 systems): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bethesda Softworks You can also try launching Skyrim via the launcher (not via SKSE or ATTK) to see if the key gets created. Those settings really should be stored under HKCU to avoid write problems. -

I have verified that the default settings do not match the images as enhasa stated (DDSOpt preview 4). SKYRIMLE Realistic Lighting Overhaul (by The Realistic Lighting Team)
stoppingby4now replied to Kelmych's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Just caught up on the thread, and...well, wow. First off, if it makes anyone feel better, my comments regarding the light color and over-indulgence in ambient light is in fact my opinion, but one based by both science and my own experience (we love candles and always have a fire going in the winter). Second, I'm not trying to knock RLO down. They have done amazing things, and I fully support them. There are obviously a lot of folks that love RLO standalone, or otherwise, and I'm one of them. Third, we encourage healthful debate and discussion in all things. Not everyone is going to agree on everything, that's the nature of our individuality. Lighting mods just so happens to be one area where opinions are going to tend to sway the most. Fourth...I have cake, who wants some? -

Brightness levels shouldn't affect the color, but I tried the console command and it didn't do anything...still too orange/redish. After reviewing some more, I have found some wall torches to be a little too whitish with EL&FX, and some candles, but in other locations things like candle chandeliers are darn near perfect. I find light throw to be more consistent in more locations with EL&FX as well, where as RLO always seems to manage to light the majority of a wall even when the light source should not be able to (it should only be ambient). I realize these are all still WIP, I just can't get past the orange/redish tint to everything in RLO. EDIT: Candle light could definitely use some work in EL&FX, but the fire pits color temperature is almost spot on. -

RLO has some great shadows. It's colors are way off though. EL&FX more closely resembles the light spectrum generated by fires, and especially candles. In this regard, RLO is off base and not something I care for due to lack of realism. This can hopefully be adjusted once Vision Lighting comes out, but for now I'm enjoying RLO + EL&FX. -
Shoutboxes would not be a good solution for serious discussion. That's why the forums exist as they provide permanency and remain searchable. I for one don't want to have to monitor a shoutbox for potential goodies and go through the process of having to copy and paste information, especially as users are posting new messages.
-
I'll try a few solutions out in my development environment and see how they fair.
-
Mobile mod cleaning, I like it.
-
We added a chat instead, though it's hardly used, even by the admins. Will be useful for opening nights for releases though. The thing about shoutboxes is that it would need to be unobtrusive, which most are (I find), and not allow guest/anonymous chat.
