ACCEPTED Deathbell HD - All-New Textures (2K-1K) (by fadingsignal)
Shadriss replied to JawZ's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
As I said - I mixed it up with another. Nightshade maybe? I'll have to go back and look, but yeah, it really was 8K. Several Nexus posters were stunned by it... especially when the author said it wasn't a problem (in severely broken English, which should have been my first hint that it wasn't this mod.) -
Dynamic Distant Objects LOD - pre 2.xx
Shadriss replied to sheson's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
Thanks for the clarification there, Tech. Misunderstood the faulty file... glad in a way. The optimized textures one is friggin HUGE, and I was NOT looking forward to d-loading it again. -
ACCEPTED Realistic Boat Bobbing (by Gandaganza)
Shadriss replied to CJ2311's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Had this installed for a good long while, and eventually removed it for some reason I can't recall. Might have been a compatibility thing, but I honestly can't recall. What I do remember is that it was pretty much an easy install, and a good look. May have to go back and put this in, now that I think on it. EDIT: At least part of this needs an update to use USLEEP instead of the USKP. The long boats portion, specifically. So that's a third of the ships covered gone. *shrug* -
Well, definitely less yellow. Not sure it's more gold-like, however... several of them look more like a light wood to me now, and that ain't right either. That could just be the lighting, but since it's hard to see those objects in any other lighting setup, minus the areas where they are picked up initially, that's kind of what I have to go off of.

Dynamic Distant Objects LOD - pre 2.xx
Shadriss replied to sheson's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
Talked with Tech about this in the 2.2.9.2 Bug Reports. The LOD Billboards are supposed to have been included in the STEP Texture Compilation, and apparently were inadvertently left out. He and Ess are working on it, and the solution should soon be on the street, as it were. Give it a day or two, watch the Bug Report Thread, and when they post the fix, re-download that mod and try it again. It should work at that point - this particular issue is no fault of Sheson's. Also, while I'm here, Sheson, I'd offer my firstborn, but he's autistic. I don't think you want him. -
Civil War Overhaul - Chance using it or no?
Shadriss replied to aaltair's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
Fixed that for you. :) I'll second Octo. I was tempted early in it's career, but the sheer number of problems reported both on Nexus and here at various points, combined with Apollo's take-it-or-leave-it attitude towards helping people rapidly convinced me otherwise. Aside from which, if it were able to be brought back in a working fashion, I'm pretty sure CRF would do it, do it better, and make it work if it were at all possible. -
ACCEPTED Deathbell HD - All-New Textures (2K-1K) (by fadingsignal)
Shadriss replied to JawZ's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Have an older version of this, and like it. My only concern was, last I looked, the only version available was an 8k texture, which is patently ludicrous. He may have relented on this since I checked last, and added the 2K back in, but if that's not the case, I'd have to say no to inclusion. 8K for a flower is... yeah. Just yeah. EDIT: Apparently, I confused this one with a another plant retex that hit around the same time. This one is kosher, and a great setup. Me likey. -
OK, I had this yesterday as well, and it's because the FOMOD wasn't designed to use the external installer. IE, you need to use the MO-included 'internal' installer to use it. See my post on the previous page concerning this. The fix is simple - go into the MO plugins list and enable the Internal FOMOD installer. Life gets easier for this mod at that point. EDIT: The new file appears to work as expected. DYNDOLOD was able to generate this time anyhow, and though Skyrim dropped to desktop during initial load, I am, atm, attributing that to a Random Act of Skyrim. I'll post follow up as needed, but for now, it would seem everything is back on track. Thanks again for the quick work, Tech and Ess.

May need to be looked at then, I just redid the whole process to verify, and got the same error regarding the TreeLOD Billboards. Don't have time to check it further tonight, as I'm inbound to work shortly, but will look for the original billboards in the AM, assuming someone else doesn't find another fix soon. Kind of surprised this happened... wouldn't have thought there would be many changes to the Texture Comp since last version, and I know they were in that one. Anyhow, enjoy your evening Tech... small problems aside, it's a pretty solid release. GJ to you and all involved.

Were the TreeLODs for DYNDOLOD inadvertently removed from the Step Texture Compilation? Tried to run 1.46 and it ended after being unable to find them. Going to go back to the instructions again, maybe I missed something, but I know I did everything I've done before for it.

Military deployment- need advice for gaming laptop
Shadriss replied to aaltair's topic in Step Banter Inn
First, thank him for his service. I'm USN myself, and understand the pains of a deployment, though it sounds more like USMC or Army than Navy from what little I've read. That said... A) Red = Highly Obvious, therefore not to likely to be 'borrowed'. I have shipmates who deliberately buy stuff that's pink (one guy had Hello, Kitty! and Barbie sheets...) to prevent 'borrowing'. So brightly colored and distinctive = good. Not saying that's why he likes the Red... but it's a possibility. B) SSD operates essentially the same as a HDD from the user perspective. It's access times are much faster however, so there is a general improvement in performance related to read/write from the disk, which CAN translate into improved game performance. If you want to know more, there are a number of articles out there, but for simplicity's sake, SSD > HDD in general terms, and operates identical. Finally, though I haven't looked at the red one, I have to plug MSI. I bought one of thier gaming rigs prior to a deployment back in 2011. Aside from a full on HDD failure (very unusual, and replaced almost immidiatey after i returned to port by MSI), I've had no issues with it or it's included systems. The only problems with it now (yes, it still works and pretty well) is stemming purely from how old it's getting. I bought it for $2100 (?) back then, so for it to still be viable for a lot of stuff means I got my bang-for-buck out of it. Good luck. -
Roger, and thanks.

Thanks Tech - Hadn't seen the Compilation Thread yet. Found out I hadn't fully updated the BYOD file for USLEEP. Oddly, though the installer specifically says that I have to select both the Core and Extended mod compilations to get them all (in the descrip for the Extended files), I am unable to select both at the same time. With the Extended Patch, are the core ones placed into the patch then?
-
Forgot to reload before editing my first post. At the risk of double-posting(ish), same problem exists with 'No NPC Greetings'. EDIT: For the STEP Compilation, received error "The element 'plugin' has an invalid child element 'typeDescriptor'. Lost of possible elements expected: 'files, conditionFlags'." Thought it may have been a bad download, but error persists after three separate downloads. 2.2.9.2 installation on hold until repaired. Don't see any other issues att. For reference, error was received while attempting the external installer in MO. Will try the internal one and report back. EDIT 1: Works using MO internal installer. Oddly, was not able to select the Extended Patch. This may be because there are a small number of the Extended mods I no longer use because of other options in mods that conflict with them. As a recommendation, is it possible for the FOMOD to list what, exactly, is missing or wrong that prevents an item from being available? It may help in other mod selections.

Under the Changelog, 'No Spinning Death Animation' is listed as removed. The main page still shows as being installed. Assuming the former is correct, for the moment. EDIT: Same for 'No NPC Greetings'.

Are DbleU's INI tweaks all going in as well? I've been assuming so, but haven't seen anything (that I can recall) confirming it.
-
I've always been curious - is it possible to set these up so that the shadows are actually continuously moving, IE, simulating real time update? ANY kind of jump is jarring to me, no matter how quickly it happens, so I'd rather have a slow transition that ends just as the next one begins to make it look like one smooth continuous motion. Possible or Pipe Dream?

Until he covers all the 'villager' clothing types, I think this can always be assumed to be true.

DROPPED Dragonborn Mages Robes Retexture Pack (by Rafuel)
Shadriss replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
MOTO = Master of the Obvious? 'Cause I have no clue what mod that is. Regardless, a few game-screens would be nice. I'm trying to hold off on new installations until 2.2.9.2 hits the streets. -
Followup: I just checked and it's still up on Nexus, with no indications that there are any issues that I can see. I'll keep looking, but it may be that there was an accusation that turned out to be unfounded. More later, if I find anything more out. EDIT: From the posts section: "Thanks everyone for your downloads, comments and endorsements. As you might have noticed my full Dawnguard pack is no longer available due to personal request of my fellow author misslexi, who got tired of continuous asset theft regarding her textures. This pack offers you the Dawnguard faction part of my DLC pack, which also now features Castle Dawnguard." Asset theft was FROM this mod, not BY this mod.

For now, use the older Quest Objectives mod. The author has kept the old version available for exactly this reason. I know STEP is making preparations to release the next version of the guide, but it's still in progress. I *expect* (but have no real clue, honestly) that it will be moving to USLEEP and will make adjustments for it. No idea when it will release, but judging from the flurry of discussion on testing mods, I think it may be fairly soon.
-
Agreed... and now that he has significantly more done, I certainly have no problems recommending them. All are in vanilla style, nothing outlandish, so I think it means mandate for Core inclusion. Assuming nothing major changes in that regard, of course, over the next updates.

Not staff, but hey, since you ask... :) For. The translucence is very nice, as is the metal work, as has been mentioned. I know that the goats in Skyrim don't have horns that look like this, but the cows do... maybe a mod to change the source of this decoration is in order, but then again, last time I tried to kill a cow, I got launched into the stratosphere. Stupid giant.
