  1. You get to ride a dinosaur with laser eyes. How could that not be awesome?!?!

    Trump

I tend to vote more in local elections since the turnout is lower and my vote matters much more. I live in a city where the city/county politicians cannot join political parties, so they actually have to speak about stuff without repeating some party line mumbo jumbo. They also work with each other without all that red team vs blue team nonsense. Texas was going heavy Trump, so I just wrote in Doctor Doom for president. I was more concerned about the county sheriff and a big bond issue we have since Texas is massively red and voting any other way wouldn't matter in the age of the Electoral College. It's worth noting that Trump did not win a majority of the votes cast, he won the most electoral votes. This is the fifth time it has happened, and the second time in five elections. Democracy is amazing isn't it?

    Trump

It's not just that he can't answer a policy question. There is a growing number of people that are sick of euphemistic language and are drawn to anyone that ignores it. They don't ever want America to admit it ever did anything wrong or ever apologize for it. They want America to be strong, even if it isn't, but appearing to be strong is enough. Trump is the embodiment of that. Adam Curtis just released a new documentary about how reality no longer matters in society today. It is about how you can make people feel regardless of reality. How we no longer dictate our actions based on reality and instead create a narrative to achieve a goal. You hear people in their 50s talk about how they could leave their front door open when they were kids, even though the 1970s was a high point of crime in the US. You hear them talk about how they don't feel safe now, even though crime in at one of the lowest points since the 1950s. That belief is manufactured and not a creation of their environment. Create a narrative, ignore reality, stick to it no matter what. If dissenting facts are brought up, double down on the narrative. Honestly, I'd recommend all of Adam Curtis' documentaries. He's one of England's national treasures. The Century of the Self, Bitter Lake, The Power of Nightmares, HyperNormalisation... All his movies are great. Made me realize there is no one at the wheel and no one really knows how control anything. As much as they try to, it just #$(@* everything up.

    Trump

Our candidates run for president like it's the position of emperor. Then they get elected and realize that it's actually the job of congress to do most the things they said they'd do. You get to do about 2-3 major things per term and that is it. Pretty much. Same thing happened with Brexit where a bunch of people in England felt that they weren't at home in their own country. Lots of people feel that way in the Heartland and they turned out to vote in really high numbers.
  5. Doom was the first large modding community I can think of. There were probably more mods for Doom than any game in history. id kept an FTP server for custom WADs with like 20K files available and it wasn't even the biggest site. You could do a whole webseries just on the history of Doom modding. It's actually kind of hard to even explain how big it was at the time since I was so young, but it was really amazing to be a part of. I could go on about Doom for days. Quake had better total conversion mods though. Ones that were way better for before and after comparisons. Doom didn't have the tech behind it that Quake did. Doom and doom engine games still have a huge community right now. The engine was open sourced and a huge revival of doom engine games started. Games that were abandonware could be played again because you could track down the source code and update the engine to play on modern hardware. Check out Brutal Doom for an overhaul. It's probably a bit too bloody for a class. Still really fun though. Super NSFW: Tons of stuff from id games is out there. Shouldn't be to hard to find something that is free to use.
  6. Maybe try just starting up WB on it's own for skyrim, then go back and start it through MO.
  7. Did you go through the ExtraHUD menu as well? Sometimes that controls different parts of the HUD elements when installed with iHUD and oHUD. Also, just a couple things I noticed in your load order. Is it sorted with LOOT? Doesn't really look like it to me. Make sure DarnUI's plugin is higher in the load order. Should be on of the higher ESPs. #111 and #112 are redundant. Pick one and ditch the other. Zan's Autopurge won't help with NVAC installed.
  8. Really smart move by the nexus guys to bring you on board. I think this will end up making things better for modders in the long run since there is no more nmm and mo split. Congratulations Tannin!
  9. God's like, "Critical hit, niiiiiicccceee."
  10. I probably won't be doing that detailed changelog anymore. It's way too time consuming and it isn't used by that many people.
  11. I don't think this one can be Core without the other mod because the aesthetic of all the books would be off. Half would be boring vanilla textures and half would be custom unique textures.
  12. Book Covers Skyrim is Extended though. That just seems weird right. We add this to Core, then we add that one to Core too or all the new books will nice, unique covers and vanilla books will just be meh. Probably should look at the reason we added that one to Extended instead of Core.
  13. I agree it's a no brainer, but I feel like an argument can be made for both Core and Extended. On one hand they not cut content and weren't intended to be part of the game, but on the other hand they sure are books from TES games. They aren't just lore friendly, they are the lore itself.
  14. Do you work on College Street? My mom grew up right there in Toronto's Little Italy. Her grandparents old house was right near the corner of College and Clinton and it's since been turned into a couple restaurants and then back into a house I believe. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Palmerston+-+Little+Italy,+Toronto,+ON,+Canada/@43.6556372,-79.4140384,3a,67.1y,81.24h,90.79t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sXQXhCPXFhgW6AUx2Y16h3Q!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!4m5!3m4!1s0x882b34f394e429a9:0x539bbd82af0329ca!8m2!3d43.659528!4d-79.4169356!6m1!1e1 Love that area. Also, why can't we get Steam Whistle in the states? I've been craving it for three years now.
  15. I can see where that comes from. I grew up in Texas with all our Southern hospitality stuff (we're not really nice, but everyone is packing heat, so you better be polite). Then I lived in Boston for a few years and it couldn't have been more different. Manners are in really short supply with that lot. Some people just don't know how to respond to kindness because they aren't used to it. You know, like that friend everyone has that dates one abusive person after another, but they just can't stop because they wouldn't know what to do with good person. Sometimes it's less about their cause and more about their temperament. Wired for conflict.
  16. Accepted into STEP as of datetime of this post.
  17. So, I have to remove the Fallout 4 lines from my INI to get MO to work correctly again?
  18. I've used this mod for a really long time. It should definitely be in STEP. Improvement over w/e the hell the vanilla texture is.
  19. Okay, I was about to say that the updates were very minimal, so there shouldn't be much impact on the masters or anything like that.
  20. I'm updating the STEP Patches right now. If you just want the updated patches they are already listed in the Update Files section on the nexus page. The compilation received NO additional updates so you only need the full download if you need the whole compilation for whatever reason. If you do need the whole compilation, you'll just have to wait for the full uploads which are in progress right now.
  21. Fallout 3 had some issues with KLite Codecs I believe. Might want to look into that issue and see if it is affecting FNV with Win10.
  22. I didn't actually add that part. Some Mod or Staff member put it in as the option we were using for testing.
  23. I completely agree with you on the biological predispositions argument. One major issue with it today is that somewhere in the late 19th century/early 20th century we reached a tipping point where technological progress started accelerating faster than society and culture could adapt to it. Natural selection has been beaten. We beat back three of the horsemen of the apocalypse. Plague was defeated by sanitation and vaccines, war was defeated by mutually assured destruction and globalization (there is still war obviously, but nothing that threatens the world), and famine was defeated by refrigeration and large scale farming and ranching. Death is all that's left. Removing Darwin from the equation is a really big wrench being thrown into the mix. Population explosions have really demonstrated just how much we've changed. Imagine we still had wide spread smallpox and polio. The world would probably only be around the 5 billion mark right now. We changed the natural order of the natural world that was given to us by the cosmos, so it's only natural that we might also ignore our natural predispositions to fit our new world order.
  24. I'm not sure what just happened, but my Core profile just got completely reset. All the mods are unticked and back in alphabetical order. Modlist.txt and plugins.txt aren't even in the profile folder. They are just gone. I can honestly say that is the first time anything like that has happened to me. Luckily I just started on those patches and already did the Extended ones. Gonna take me some time to get it all back in order though. Was hoping to maybe upload the new version tonight, but now I don't know. It will be done tomorrow for sure though.
  25. I have a buddy that plays in a local band and he has a shirt that says Black Sabbath Matters. Now that's a movement I can get behind. @Z, you can look up first-second-third wave feminism. Pretty well establish periods of time. @Mono, are you in your 3rd or 4th year of university? I think left and right is usually coming from the Americans. We have twisted those words around so much the last 50-60 years to mean so many different things. Our current use of right and left share a few similarities with classical notions, but otherwise they are separate in their meaning. Words like that are mostly tools of our major political parties. With only 6 major media outlets it's easier than ever for them to change the meaning a little to suit their agendas, while the good people at Oxford and Merriam-Webster are left scratching their heads.
