bug STEP Skyrim SE Guide v0.3.0b - Official Bug Reports
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Skyrim SE Guide
Actually, MM LOD resource should be disabled after generating. I just found an issue with it enabled in the Tundra. The river in the tundra, north of Rorikstead was "flashing" as if there was a layer over the top of it. Some rocks where doing the same thing. Disabling the MM LOD resource fixed it. So it should be disabled after DynDOLOD generation. -
DROPPED Lanterns Of Skyrim II (by MannyGT/wizkid34)
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Skyrim SE Mods
I've taken LoS 2 out of my playthrough and popped LoS MCM version in, I was immediately much happier with the style as nothing "stands out" like it does in LoSII. Everything just fits the game better. -
Part of my issue is that I hadn't started a playthrough in a good while so all my testing has just been COCing into the game, find object, save, grab shots, and post. However, some of this stuff takes a bit of exploring to find so I've been trying to save when I know a compare needs to be done in the location as I'm playing through some of the story again.

Yeah, I've got a few saves for a few more compares...it's just finding the time (and willpower) to provide some more. The compares in the OP are just a small set of some of what this mod provides. If accepted, I'm sure we'll be hiding textures from it, else, we can just include the LE versions since most textures port to SE without any issue.

Well, it was already in the LE Guide. Just needed to do some testing for SE. So far no issues, but I've just started building.- 25 replies

ACCEPTED Hearthfire Extended (by Kinaga)
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Skyrim SE Mods
I've tossed this into the new game I started yesterday for testing. I'm using the Windstad Manor location since I've never used that location before. As for patches, I wouldn't worry about it. None of the conflicts are really going to matter. Just LOOT sort it.- 25 replies

Added some compares to the OP. There's hardly any difference.

CleverCharff's Photorealistic Ash Pile (by CleverCharff)

Added a single outdoor set to the OP. -
Don't forget, we can mix and match. STEP is Ren's HD Shines, for reference. Akatosh: STEP : Both are complete changes. I prefer STEP. Remiros turns it into a gemstone-like texture.Arkay: STEP : STEP's is gilded, which I kinda like. Remiros is closer to vanilla in the fact that it doesn't add gold, but it is also a complete color change. So take your pick. I like STEP.Dibella: STEP : Both, again, are changes. STEP's is another gilded-style. Remiros is closer to vanilla-style, but is still a change...it's almost muted vs vanilla. I prefer STEP again.Julianos: Remiros : Remiros looks best here. No doubts.Kynareth: undecided : Honestly, I can't decide. None? Is there a none option? STEP's fits better with the surrounding textures, but Remiros is, again a change, but still closer to vanilla. However, Remiros also pays to emphases to the stone and almost mutes it again.Mara: STEP : This is the wrong option for STEP. It should be the Gilded Saint....if it is, it's too dark to tell. I much prefer STEP's. Not only does the gilding add to an otherwise uninteresting stone statue compared to the others, but STEP's also has a far better face.Stendarr: undecided : Both are changes, again. Take your pick. I have no strong preference here.Zenithar: Remiros : Remiros is clearly better here too.Talos: Remiros : Remiros is the best of the bunch here, as well.

Cleaned Skyrim SE Textures (by Kartoffels)
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Skyrim SE Mods
I just don't think this mod is worth it for the Guide. Of the ~4269 unconflicted textures, 4064 are terrain LOD textures that users are never going to see up-close because we're generating the ones that matter ourselves. That only leaves 205 textures that are not covered. Of these, I've looked at a few. Most the gradients still have artifacts and/or banding and some have new artifacts introduced from the "batch handling" of the files. I just don't think it's worth the massive download for ~200 textures.- 51 replies

Dropped from testing. Not enough difference/improvement over current STEP.

bug STEP Skyrim SE Guide v0.3.0b - Official Bug Reports
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Skyrim SE Guide
I don't think that one really matters, but Z came in with a bit of a heavy hand when he returned to some Guide stuff, and without much discussion beforehand, so I don't know what he's all done...haven't looked at it in a while as I'm trying to stay away from the Guide for a while. Though a bit rusty , Z is capable of handling things on his own while I take a bit of a break. I've been helping with LOD testing to try to steer that back in the right direction and anything Z needs on Discord. No idea why the 2D tree LOD instructions would have been removed... ...could have been an accident. -
I wonder if a desaturated version would help...

Before anything is decided there needs to be a complete set of compares because this affects more than just LOD and glaciers: frozen lake ice from Dawnguard, ice floes, frozen marsh ice, icebergs... Basically we need to know what we're losing (or gaining) from the dropping of Just Ice.

It's not that we can't use MM's Landscape, but if we do, it's very likely we'll have to drop Cathedral Landscapes. It's also providing the grass, so that too would have to be compared and changed. Then there is Cathedral Weathers that is built to work very well with Cathedral Landscapes...then the Patches have to be updated... There is a lot a things connected and I already warned Z we was going down a rabbit hole of changes and issues to address for a "simple change". There's nothing simple about it unless we simply drop Just Ice and use Cathedral. I also want to be very clear... If the landscape is changed, I'll have nothing to do with the process. I've already put far too much work into the Guide and making it work well together. I've also been wanting a break, but have not cut down one bit since Z started working on the Guide again because it's one thing after another. ...if you can't tell, I'm on the edge of burn-out...

Inconsistencies with Character Appearance Mods?
TechAngel85 replied to a topic in Step Skyrim SE Guide
To be specific, I've tested most of the armors. The only thing users will not get is the slimmer body of UNP when equipping armor. This is mostly unnoticeable due to the bulkiness of the armor, however, users may notice it on the slimmer, closer fitting armors like the Shrouded Armor. But as far as real issues like seams and gaps...I didn't see any. In all likelihood, Vanilla Body with UNP Textures is no longer needed.
