  1. No, not just you. That is the general perspective toward NMM in most of the online communities, STEP included. STEP has never been able to use NMM because it hasn't allow the customization and never had the tools needed for "advanced modding" without doing a TON of manual work, which is stupid when there are other managers that do the job much easier. IMO, NMM was being held back due to needing to support multiple games and non-Bethesda games too. This, imo, limited NMM to what it could do because it had to remain simple enough to manage non-Bethesda games, but tried to fulfill management of the Bethesda games. It never was able to get there for Bethesda games when compared to MO and WB. Hopefully this new extension system will solve this problem and we'll have one manager to rule them all! ::
  2. No problem! Glad you didn't have to do an entire reinstall. That mod isn't actually master is why you didn't pick it up. We're forwarding a couple asset paths from the plugin, therefore, it's required to be installed or the STEP Patches would break those sounds. If you don't want that mod, it's as simple as deleting those paths from the patches and saving it. No need to "clean masters".
  3. You can look at this Guide for xEdit: https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:XEdit I usually recommend this video series to new users: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqU2U3NK7qo&list=PLE8sg8RonowQDhkzTO6CmctC3wJPlIjwd I also recommend this video:
  4. Updated the Core section of the OP. A few mods were missing from the latest Compilation updates so I added them.I also added links to all the mod pages to relieve any confusion on what mods the plugins originate from.Removed Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul from the lists. We are providing Patch versions without ICAIO as a master for those players who wish not to install the mod so it's no longer a requirement.
  5. First go into your settings (wrench icon) and confirm on the Plugins tab both are set to "true". Ensure that all the following are active and that you have not merged any of them (STEP doesn't support merging at this time): Dawnguard.esmHearthFires.esmUnofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch.espClothing & Clutter Fixes.espCutting Room Floor.espGuard Dialogue Overhaul.espInvisibility Eyes Fix.espWeapons & Armor Fixes_Remade.espRealisticWaterTwo.espaMidianBorn_ContentAddon.espElemental Staves.espExplosiveBoltsVisualized.espAOS.espImproved Combat Sounds v2.2.espADS.espThe Paarthurnax Dilemma.esp
  6. It should still be using the same installer regardless. I install the mods by double-clicking them on the downloads tab in MO. It shouldn't make any difference. I'll double check the installer itself since I haven't looked at it yet. You're using MO v1.3.11, correct?
  7. I just tested it on a STEP:Core profile and it installed beautifully. Please be sure you are installing SMIM and marking "yes" in the installer. Also, do not untick the checkbox on the either of the "Eligibility" pages. They're ticked for a reason. The FOMOD is designed to guide you through it with as little decisions to make as possible, so just leave things selected that it selects for you. That's the only thing I can think of that's messing with it. Also make sure you are using MO's internal FOMOD installer. The external NCC installer doesn't work as well as the internal installer, and will likely break with this more complex FOMOD. You shouldn't ever need to turn off the internal installer. It's better to let MO decide which one it needs to run.
  8. The Extended part of STEP (mods without a green bar to the left on the tables) are optional. Better Shaped Weapons is a Core mod so it's meant to be installed. It's mainly mesh fixes for weapons, so if you didn't want it installed, you can skip it. You can replace ELE with RLO, if you desire. We offer non-ELE versions of our STEP Patches for this purpose. These are the patches installed with the STEP Compilation. A list of required plugins for the Patches can be found here: https://forum.step-project.com/topic/9370-step-compilation/
  9. You can find a list of the requirements on the mod's topic OP here: https://forum.step-project.com/topic/9370-step-compilation/
  10. Does it allow you to install the Extended patch? I'm just trying to get a feel for it's behavior. I ask about the Extended Patch because if you can install it, I most likely intentionally designed it that way because using a Core patch on an Extended install is not generally recommended for a stable play-through because you'll be missing some of the required patches between the Extended mods. However, if it's not allowing neither Patch to be installed, then something is missing for your installs or something is wrong with the FOMOD. I guess I need to update my Core profile to test it.
  11. Open the archive and copy and paste the plugin into the Overwrite folder temporarily. Then, in the Plugins Tab hover over the Patch and it will tell you what you're missing. Install the missing plugin and try to install the Compilation again. If it's a mod that isn't listed, please let us know so that we can add it to the list. If it's telling you there isn't any missing masters, then there is an issue with the FOMOD installer. The '&' is due to the XML code that FOMODs are written in. The '&' symbols are parsed as part of the code, causing it to fail. Therefore, any time you need to define a plugin that includes an ampersand, you must use the Entity equivalent. The Decimal or Hex equivalent might work, as well, but I haven't tried them in practice.
  12. Make sure you're editing the INI in MO and not the original game INI.
  13. You probably missed it, but I've created a support forum for Sheson at the top level and broken his topic up into multiple topics. He's now running that forum as a moderator as it'll be the place for support for his tool.
  14. In MO, open your settings and go to the Workaround tab. Make sure you have the right Steam ID in the box.
  15. The only thing I'm really curious about is if the new NMM will be using virtualization like MO does. MO keeping the data folder clean is one of its biggest pluses for me. And I don't feel like NMM use of symbolic links is the best why of doing it, so I hope that goes away and the virtualization stays.
  16. No problem. That mod must have been one that slipped through the radar.
  17. STEP:Extended is the entirety of the Guide...meaning that you install all mods in the Guide in the order they are listed. Packs are not part of STEP:Extended. They are separate mod guides which are, or should, run on top of either STEP:Core or STEP:Extended.
  18. Well, we all know most of us haven't seen vanilla in a long, long time. :: The cave walls with Falmer inhabiting them in STEP do not look like that, for sure. I'm been in plenty of those. To be honest, I've never seen that texture in vanilla unless it's the Bkackreach wall texture and then it's so dark in there that you don't see any of that coloration...just the glow is visible.
  19. Congrats in the job! I'm confident that you can bring us a solid mod manager and am glad they picked you for this task.
  20. Extract the nif and import it. I know 3Ds max and Blender both have plugins to import the nif files, but I don't know about any others. I managed to import a body mesh into 3Ds max once, so I know that works. I'm sure Sparrow will come along and offer some pointers since I know he's done a lot of mesh work. I don't know what he uses besides Nifskope, though.
  21. No, that is not in the vanilla game from what I've seen. Though I haven't been in every single interior. The only place that as some illumination is Blackreach. That looks like some texture corruption to me, however it's also in the author's screenshots on the mod page.
  22. Windows 10 is actually losing market share already, which is the fastest it has ever happened after a release. This is measuring share of actual computers in use. All the while, Windows 7 is gaining. Goes to show a lot of people aren't happy with Windows 10. Even Linus Media Group has been ragging on it a bit. Just on the last WAN show Luke was talking about how it was giving him trouble while benching because system services would randomly max out the CPU.
  23. That text you get from the main menu is normal. Just install and run BethINI instead of doing the INI Tweaks. It's redundant to do both. Don't run BethINI through MO. MO should be closed when you run it. You don't really need Skyrim Performance Monitor unless you're needing to keep an eye on things like CPU/GPU usage, RAM usage, etc. PapyrusUtils is perfectly safe and needed for DynDOLOD. Logging is something completely different and not necessary. You can replace Natural Eyes with any eye texture replacer. They're just textures. Unless Tony incorporated the HRDLC and UHRP, you should still get them.
  24. You can't use the game's AA in combination with ENB. Turn if off and either use the ENB's AA or SMAA.
