Would also suggest trying out NaturaLUTs! I liked SGS far more than fully neutral LUTs, but have since swapped over to NaturaLUTs.

Your must-haves for Starfield
Sithishade replied to rootsrat's topic in General Starfield Discussion & Support
I'm currently using: Starfield Upscaler I prefer the look of DLSS over FSR, though it does not impact framerate much one way or the other. ReShade Using this to apply a little extra sharpening, since DLSS does not include it by default any longer, and some gamma adjustments. Starfield Performance Optimizations (Ultra) Some .ini tweaks. Reduces shadow count and detail as well as reflection detail, boosts GTAO, culls grass more aggressively, reduces crowds. Worth a few FPS, and not terribly noticeable. SGS's LUTs (50%) The best LUT replacement I've found so far. Doesn't dramatically alter the default coloring, but removes some of the hazy green tint. 60 FPS - Smooth UI (Trim) Adjusts the default UI .swfs to run at 60 FPS instead of 30. Compact Mission UI Allows more visibility in the mission menu, and displays completed quests with less opacity. Overwrites 60 FPS - Smooth UI. StarUI Inventory Goes without saying! Overwrites 60 FPS - Smooth UI. SFSE Goes without saying as well! Baka Achievement Enabler Allows for the use of console commands and other mods without disabling achievements. -

To my knowledge, yes, this is accurate! -
Discussion topic: 60 FPS - Smooth UI by Fuzzles Wiki Link Overwrites all UI SWF files with 60 FPS variants. Should use SLIM version as it skips notification SWFs, which otherwise appear and disappear too fast. Should be overwritten by StarUI. I'm also overwriting it with Compact Mission UI, but I'm not giving that one its own thread because it's likely to be replaced by an offshoot of StarUI by the time the guide is actually put together. As far as whatever's not replaced by StarUI or similar, though, this should serve as an effective fix. (Note that it's also possible to manually edit the SWF files for something like StarUI to run at 60 FPS, as it currently does not. I followed the instructions here to do so, if anyone is interested.)

Well dang, should've just waited a bit for you to show up with the details DoubleYou! Thanks for the info, that's really interesting. -
Starfield Mod Installation
Sithishade replied to TechAngel85's topic in General Starfield Discussion & Support
Essentially so, yes. If... ..\Documents\My Games\Starfield\Data\Strings ...exists, for example, then... ..\Steam\steamapps\common\Starfield\Data\Strings ...will be completely ignored. However, if you then also have something in... ..\Steam\steamapps\common\Starfield\Data\Interface ...that'll function, because no Interface folder exists in My Games to overwrite it. EDIT: This assumes an otherwise-untouched setup, of course. Basically, if ..\Data\ABC in My Games and ..\Data\ABC in Root coexist, My Games will always overwrite Root. ..\Data\ABC in My Games and ..\Data\XYZ can coexist fine--that's why you can have Textures in My Games and Interface or Strings or whatever in Root, as you are forced to do currently. If Bethesda stored the MOTD file in Root instead, we wouldn't have this problem at all. But because it's stuck in My Games\Starfield\Data\Textures\Motd_Media, all Textures must also go there to function, as that copy of the Textures folder is overwriting anything you might place in Root. -
Starfield Mod Installation
Sithishade replied to TechAngel85's topic in General Starfield Discussion & Support
Here to try to shed a little light on this, hopefully! I used two different LUT texture mods and two different item string mods to check conflict resolution for different folders/types of data. All of these tests were done on the Steam version of the game. (One of the string mods also uses a font edit in Data\Interface--I did not install it at all, because using just the string files still produces garbled prefixes. I don't need to see the actual icons to tell which mod has won the conflict between the two folders, which is the real point here.) A) Currently, textures in the Root Data folder's .ba2s are overwritten by loose textures in the My Games Data folder. The .ba2s are not overwritten by loose textures in the Root Data folder alone. Placing loose textures in the Root Data folder and the My Games Data folder causes those in My Games Data to appear. (Presumably, because the loose textures in Root Data are ignored entirely, the My Games Data textures are still just overwriting the .ba2s in that second case, technically speaking.) B) Testing non-texture files gives different results. Strings in the Root Data folder's .ba2s are overwritten by loose strings in the My Games Data folder, as before. However, loose strings in the Root Data folder alone do overwrite the .ba2s appropriately. Finally, when loose strings are present in both locations, the My Games Data folder's contents still win the conflict. This invited the question--if there were no conflict, would the game load strings from both folders? The answer to this question is no. Tested this by placing English strings in the Root Data folder and Spanish strings in the My Games Data folder. The strings appear when Spanish is the chosen language, but not English. C) Finally, a mix-and-match. Can you load one type of data from one area, and another from the other? Yes. Placing LUT files in My Games Data (as they have to be, since they're textures) and strings in Root Data works fine. TL;DR: Each My Games Data subfolder will overwrite an identically named Root Data subfolder in its entirety, even if there are no conflicts. Textures, in addition, have to be placed in My Games Data, as they do not function at all in the Root Data location. This is because, as pointed out above, Bethesda has included a Textures folder there by default for the MOTD, so any Textures folder content in Root Data is ignored. I assume all other types of data (like strings) can exist in either location, though all mods that adjust a particular subfolder should be stored in one location, not split across both locations. Pinging @z929669, @TechAngel85, and @DoubleYou. -

I think it's worth noting that most of Xavbio's retextures are already based on Amidianborn's Book of Silence/Content Addon, since those textures have open permissions. Most weapons include LeanWolf compatibility as well. He's still got a lot of work left to do to complete the set, but when he does he'll release an AIO. Might be a good idea to check it out at that point. -

Think I've found another typo. In section 13 (Gameplay - Immersion), the notes for Butterflies Unchained say that you need to install the optional file if you have CCOR installed. I believe the CCOR there should read CACO. -
Discussion topic: ySI - Sorting Ycons by Yvileapsis Wiki Link Now this is gorgeous. Solves an aggravating issue with the inventory system, and doesn't use an ESP like similar, text-based alternatives. Requires yUI - User Ynterface by the same author. Another author, Shadai89, has created colored icons for this as well, though I don't prefer them.

FEEDBACK v2.2.0 - Feedback & Bug Reports

I mean that I don’t recall a section that shows you how to add a mod from an archive you download manually, rather than the “install with mod manager” option on a Nexus page, regardless of what the archive type is. That’s actually here though, which people should be reading anyway. -

I originally included these notes in my previous post under a spoiler tag, but I'll put them here without as I think they were missed (they included that bit about Bthardamz). In the Tool Setup table, xEdit.exe and xEditQuickAutoClean.exe should be named SSEEdit.exe and SSEEditQuickAutoClean. The collapsible here does refer to them by their original names, as does the System Setup Guide. If they should be renamed, the filename should be changed in both places. SPID no longer has a separate AE file, but instead, a FOMOD. May want to do a FOMOD table like you do for other mods with FOMODs (though it's an easy install, tbh--just the one choice of your game version). Same goes for Simple Offence Suppression. I recall the original version of the guide having instructions for adding mods from .zip, instead of Nexus. I know how to do this, but someone who doesn't might be confused when running into Skyrim Realistic Overhaul, Skyrim Redesigned WIP, and Arthmoor's mods. If these are elsewhere or I've overlooked them, ignore! Enhanced Vanilla Trees' FOMOD collapsible is missing the "Greener Pines" section of the custom FOMOD. Glacier LOD Meshes should have a note on it, like the other Skyrim LE mods, that it is compatible and the warning can be ignored. Reverb Interior Sounds Expansion does not ask me about Skyrim VR--unsure if FOMOD was updated or what. For Tempered Skins for Males, we're free to choose whatever we like. After choosing underwear option A2 however, the files I'm supposed to hide for underwear are not present. Will report back if this breaks something. Butterflies Unchained still lists the CACO patch as necessary--may want to note that it's unnecessary if you haven't installed CACO now that it's optional. Same thing goes for the Kryptopyrs Patch Hub--many of these are for CACO or CCOR or TCIY specifically and aren't necessary if those aren't installed. Could use some organization to reflect this. Same for Vokrii patch--unnecessary if you don't have CACO. It's clear to me, reading the ENBSeries collapsible, that the Step ENB preset files from Nexus should go straight into the root folder, but you may want to say this specifically. (Note from later: the guide does get to this, but it's at the end of the section, in the collapsible for the Post-Processing patch. Maybe have the files placed when the ENB preset is downloaded originally, in the ENBSeries collapsible itself?) All mods added! List of things that are currently listed as "redundant" in case that's helpful: the three DLCs, Majestic Mountains Double-Sided Patch, Battle Ready Candlelight Fixes, Rudy HQ - Bthardamz. Can provide overwrite reports if needed. Items that needed xEdit quick cleaning: SmoothShores.esp, imp_helm_legend.esp
