  1. If your FPS ever gets really bad you could this, it's the Anti-STEP.
  2. I installed v2.8 which was released today and had zero CTDs or freezes after 4 hours of playing, though a few people commented that they were still having problems. Also, there are still a few issues with certain light sources causing ultra bright reflections, like the big bird above the skyforge during the day is blinding, and ini tweaking didn't really fix it. The author updates every week so it's still a good mod to keep an eye.
  3. When we are using Process Monitor to look at the .nif files, how do I establish which one was the problem? Is it the last .nif that was loaded, or should Process Monitor show the files as FAILED in the Result tab?
  4. I ran through my meshes folder with this and only got ~11MB, but in game the Haralds were mess up so exclude Skyrim Coin Replacer.
  5. Hey TC, you should check out the icicle textures from Real Ice and Snow. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=13466 The main file doesn't really compare to Thats Ice, but there are five icicle textures under optional files, I like the extreme watery version myself.
  6. @TC It's on page 2 of this thread, but the fix worked when I installed it the first time after Vond said it was an issue. Plus, Boss has been updated to load the correct order now of ICS then ICS fix. The weird part for me is that the fix doesn't work anymore. I'm going to reinstall one more time after deleting the ICS files and redownloading them just in case they were corrupted somehow, so I'll post what happens. EDIT: So I reinstalled Skyrim with just STEP again the sword sound was gone. I guess it was the armor mods I installed that conflicted or disabled the fix somehow, but that doesn't make any sense to me. I'll figure out which mod it was in the morning.
  7. The sword sound bug has come somehow. I installed the fix and the noise went away, but then I installed some other mods and the sound came back. I uninstalled all the mods that I added that went part of STEP and the sound was still there, so I decided to reinstall STEP over again. Even after I did that the sword sound is still there. It seems weird that this would happen since the only mods I added were some armor sets and faster vanilla horses.
  8. You can get QD Inventory to work while in the enchanting menu if you use a controller, but you have to turn off the controller, push right or left on the keyboard, then turn the controller back on and it works. Really annoying if I'm on the couch and my keyboard is not.
  9. Check the Mod Suggestions & Reviews section. There are some good content mods listed.
  10. Was Better Sorting removed from the Interface Mods? Unless I missed it Categorized Favorites Menu still says that it overwrites Better Sorting.
  11. I didn't have any CtD problems with about an hour of going from city to city and a few dungeons, with STEP installed, but with the author updating every few days this is one to watch. He also said he'd upload a video answering questions about the mod.
  12. MadW must have detected a metaphysical shift emanating from far to the Northeast, which he apparently acted upon subliminally, creating a confluence of sub-conscious thought, resulting in this synergy. :P Oh dear, I wonder what else I might be open to subliminally. The first week I try to live without my trusty aluminium hat and this happens, back on it goes! Who would have thought that the reptilians could be thwarted with by something as simple reynolds wrap. David Icke approves.
  13. Discussion thread: More Dynamic Shadows and Striping Fixed by puuloo Wiki Link More Dynamic Shadows and Striping Fixed Nexus link dead as of 7/8/2012 by puuloo Author's description: This is not compatible with Shadow Stripping Fix mod which is already in STEP, but I believe it fixes many more instances where shadow stripping occurs. There is a list of all the interiors and dungeons in the readme with around 100 places already completed. The author has also stated that 20+ dungeons and fixes will be added to the mod every five days, so there are many fixes still on the way. After testing this for around an hour, this mod does exactly what it says it's going to do and seemed to be completely compatible with RLWC, but I'd recommend to load this before both esp files from RLWC. I'm not using RCRN, so maybe someone else can test the compatibility. There is no performance hit on more powerful rigs, but the nexus site mentions a small hit to low end rigs. I loaded this on my laptop and could see any drop in performance. Overall, the extra dynamic shadows from the interior lights is a nice touch to Skyrim.
  14. It reminds me of a Louie CK joke where he was talking about technical high schools. We tell kids they can do anything they want, but at technical high school we say, you can do 8 things.
  15. All these sites are awesome, and OpenCourseWare has bailed me out a few times. Zuesoft - This is like Ninite except its a nice little app for software that is about 90% open-source.
  16. Throwing Knives by raden5 https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=11875# This nice little mod adds new type of weapon to Skyrim - throwing knives. Now anyone can be the ninja they've always wanted to be. They are craftable at the forge and there are the knives and a wearable ammo pack that gives infinite ammo. The knives themselves are preety strong, but like most Skyrim weapons not until higher levels when everyone is dragon fodder anyway. Since the last update the 3rd person animations are fixed. Besides knives there are Elven and Orcish axes that have a change to knockdown an enemy. The only complaint I have with this mod is that the knives and ammo are way to valuable in game. The author is working on the Dwarven Mechanical Equipment mod right now, so he will probably return to this in the near future.
  17. With Dynamic Timescale you can set all the options to the same number and time will be linear (or will it?), but it comes in a nice little book you carry with you so that it can be changed at any time, it's very nice.
  18. Discussion topic: Skyrim Uncapper by Elys Wiki Link Skyrim-Community-Uncapper Guide I've been meaning to post this for a while, but always forgot about it. Basically, Elys has created a wonderfully versatile and powerful SKSE plugin that allows you to alter all the leveling stats you can think of in it's nifty ini file. Along with that is the ability to remove the level caps change the frequency of leveling, the amount of perks your Dova receives, the amount of health, stamina, or magicka you receive. The level caps are independent for each skill, for example, a mage character could set all the magic skills to 200 and all the warrior skills to 50. The speed of each skills leveling can be altered as well, which can slow down skills that level to fast or speed up the slow pokes. I personally like the ability to change how many perks I can get when I level up. By setting a certain level to any number, i.e. 2=1, 20=2, 40=3; your character will get 1 perk until level twenty, 2 perks until level forty, and 3 perks from then on. Elys also informed me that it accepts float numbers (have not confirmed myself, maybe tonight), so you could set it to 2=1.25 and receive 1 extra perk for every 4th level up or 100 total perks by level 81. The amount of health, magicka and stamina gained from the choice you make during a level up works similar to the perks per level where you would just change it to 2=20 to get twice the value on level up, and each one has it's own setting. Besides these caps there is the skill effect formula cap which some skill listen to in Skyrim, but others don't so this can be changed from a default 100 to a higher or lower value. And, I think v1.9 added a cap on the enchanting table so you could limit the power to enchant things. Lastly, each individual setting has an enable/disable setting so if you don't want the plugin controlling a certain part of your game, then just set it to 0. Elys keeps this updated and is always helpful on the thread. It may conflict with other mods that affect leveling, but other than that I've never had a problem. Also, Skyrim -Elys- MemInfo for people testing framerate, RAM useage, and virtual memory usage is available for SKSE. EDIT: sorry it was virtual memory not VRAM.
  19. You might also try Convenient Horses which has a horse call animation and fast dismount with weapon drawn plus some other things, but I haven't had time to try it out enough to say there are no bugs. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=14950
  20. I actually found some useful stuff in the comments section, so it's good to glance over it to try and catch something.
  21. Better to go the closed bugs page and just ctrl-f to search for the bug. https://unofficialskyrimpatch.16bugs.com/projects/7078/bugs?s=c
  22. I wouldn't call that a page that has mods that are included, but rather mods that they are looking to included in the future. It's probably better to go to the closed bug list and press ctrl-f to search for the bug. https://unofficialskyrimpatch.16bugs.com/projects/7078/bugs?s=c
  23. The icicle thing actually reminds me of RIS - Real Ice and Snow by grvulture, which has five different icicle retexts. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=13466 I really like the extreme watery icicle look, but the rest of the ice and snow textures aren't my favorite, so maybe overwrite them or just use the icicle files.
  24. Discussion thread: That's Ice by OpticShooter Wiki Link Nexus says file does not exist. That's Ice by OpticShooter This is an ice retexture that comes in 3 colors and 3 resolutions. Description from the author: I do like the current ice texture in STEP, but the baby blue version won me over. The author says it's 1024 resolution, but clarity of 2048, so I guess that would probably perform better than Real Ice 2K version. Some of these retext mods are hard to evaluate as better than another, but this mod's advantage is that it comes NMM and BAIN ready. It also has an optional meshes pack, but it's not in the BAIN so you'd have to install 2 files.
  25. This looks like a variation of the Daedric Armor and Weapon Improvement which is already a part of STEP, now it's just been turned into a battlemage looking armor set. Pretty nice, I love the chrome with that red glow. I think the latest Mod Sanctuary on the Nexus had some great stuff for mages. Most of the mods on their I already use since armor sets aren't really in conflict with STEP, so I recommend adding few especially Omegared's Compilation which has around 10 sets of armor for all play types.
