pack A Real Explorer's Guide to Skyrim
Nearox replied to CJ2311's topic in Step Skyrim LE Packs (retired)
What I mean is, the No Snow/SMIM patches for Falkreath, Dawnstar etc are not mentioned in REGS install instructions. Are any of those patches needed for the ETaC - Complete version are are they only necessary for modular? I don't see a NSuTR/SMIM patch esp file for ETaC - Complete after going through the installer. For clearification, I am talking about these options: If I select 'none' there everywhere, then this is the patch list that comes out (which doesn't seem to have any nsutr/smim complete patch): (right-click and open image in new tab) Edit: Nvm the 3DNPC question, missed that part of the 12.0 patch notes :) Edit2: For SRLE users there are 3 ESPs that are not in the userlist.txt. Will you add them or shall I add them as extra rules in the regs-srle guide? ETaC - Complete ELFX Patch.espETaC - Complete WC Holidays Patch.espPrometheus_NSUTR BDS Patch.esp Version 2.3 Edit3: There is a CRF navmesh which is completely reversed by ETaC - Complete.esp in Worldspace 0000003C <Tamriel> Block -1, 0 Sub-Block -3, 2 00009388 Temporary 00015EBA. I can divert etac questions to etac comment section of course if you like :) Edit4: FATT IV's Dragonmournin..esp also reverses a CRF navmesh @ Worldspace 0000003C <Tamriel> Block -1, 0 Sub-Block -3, 2 00009368 Temporary 000E8B82 Maybe neither of them are a problem but they kinda stand out inbetween all the fixed navmeshes of the REGS files. Edit 5: It seems that with the new userlist.txt, ETaC has been put significantly lower in the load order than where it used to be (a few weeks ago?) by default BOSS settings (and previous REGS settings did not move etac - complete.esp to another priority). This must be what is causing ETaC to now win some navmesh conflicts with CRF and to revert back to vanilla navmesh whereas I guess it probably shouldn't be doing that. Just checking up on things here, I'm sure you've looked at all this before, as usual :) -

CJ in the new ETaC - Complete Patches installer, at the 5th FOMOD screen, it gives options for No Snow/SMIM. Aren't these only for the modular version? -
SKYRIMLE Guide to run SRLE + REGS + ENB on Medium Systems
Nearox replied to Nearox's topic in Step Skyrim LE Packs (retired)
You can, of course, but SRLE doesn't do it either so I did the same and only went for CoT. There are only a few vanilla weathers anyways so you probably wouldn't notice while playing :) -
SKYRIMLE Guide to run SRLE + REGS + ENB on Medium Systems

Ah I skipped that category when writing up the guide, as it says it's still a WIP and I gladly take up suggestions/improvements. Having said that, I use 1k Beards & Brows on my install while I chose for 2k Hair because the quality difference between 1k and 2k is huge. Will include this later. Personally I use the STEP DDSopt guide (with the .bat files etc) instead of the SRLE DDSopt instructions for the HRDLC, because the STEP one saves me about 20MB VRAM compared to the SRLE one. Not a biggy, but it's a saver. On top of that, I also use Bethesda Performance Textures - Armor Clothes Weapons and Bethese Performance Textures - Animals and Creatures. You will find that, despite the name, the quality of the textures actually improves a LOT while the size is reduced even more than the DDSopt as the author manually photoshop-edited each texture. There's a few hundred textures in each pack which don't get overwritten by anything so it's another VRAM saver. Put it after the UHRP in your MO order. I prfer Gamwich's textures instead of the STEP-choice Bethesda Hi-Res DLC Optimized. Imo Gamwich reduced the size more while the quality is better. Reason they aren't included yet is because I first need to finish some other stuff before inserting a category for new mods. -

The STEP DDSopt guide is great and there'sa tab which lists a lot (all?) of the STEP mods and their potential reductions in VRAM use if pushing them through DDSopt. Generally however reducing VRAM load will not lead to major FPS increases unless you are overloading your GPU's maximum VRAM or are nearing the limit -which can of course easily be the case if you run a lot of mods. -

That's a good start yeah. I'm not sure how much a difference reducing SRO textures makes though, most of their exteriors are already 1k. In my experience also getting above 32-33 FPS is basically required for Skyrim to run stable on my system. If it goes lower, the chance for a crash increases exponentially with every reduction in FPS. It's possible my GPU simply can't handle the amount of throughput required and just quits. Either way, are you using an ENB? In the little guide I just released I describe a few tweaks to Vividian ENB which have helped a lot to stabilize my game. -
SKYRIMLE Guide to run SRLE + REGS + ENB on Medium Systems

Glad some of it helps! As for SMIM Lite and the STEP patch, I honestly wouldn't know, it's been a long time since I used STEP. You'd best ask in the SMIM mod thread. Also I will add a note to SMIM that it is best not to install the Lite version until everything else in the guide has beent tried. The light version doesn't have a merged ESP I think (I'm using 1.72 so idk if 1.73 has it) and the FPS difference between the light and full version is like 2-4 in the bigger towns. Hehe, it's a WIP so REGS is still to be included :) That said most REGS mods don't have a lot of textures (if any) with them so there's less room for optimization there. In truth I haven't actually optimized any REGS mod before except ETaC's new textures :) I can remember the thread about the FPS Limiter - which I think was mainly about using VSync in combination with FPS limiter that'd give the input lag issues, no? In my experience at least, the FPS limiter actually reduces input lag. Or at least that's what I perceive because now the presumed lag is constant and doesn't fluctuate. The SMIM fences have been a major annoyance for me for a long time. Actually I always remove the SMIM meshes/textures for that in my game because 1) they have ridiculous polygon count and 2) they have very bad aliasing unless one uses temporal AA or SSAA. Thanks for the suggestion about Real Wood, I'll have a look at that, though at the moment adding new mods to the guide is not a priority. -
Some may call this junk, me I call them necessary evils... This is a collection of tweaks that I use to run SRLE + REGS + Vividian ENB on my system. Decided to share the knowledge upon multiple requests for those with similar PC configurations. It is designed to max out at 2GB VRAM and to run at 32FPS minimum in the most taxing situations. Mod/guide/ENB authors please don't hate me for reducing the quality of your beautiful work To all the poor scrubs with medium-end game systems (like me), I hope you find use for it. As mentioned, I really wouldn't worry about ETaC/IS patching. If anything, the combination of those works and the fact that awesome missjennabee + master patcher/fixer CJ will mean that a large amount of settlements are going go to be covered and you won't need a 3rd mod for them. Hroldan Villages was briefly considered during early REGS development, but we also concluded that it was overkill and that it adds too much generic stuff that has little or no meaning in the world except aesthatics (whcih weren't all that great either). Sometimes less = more. TES Arena Fortress has beatiful exteriors however the project is not finished by a long stretch. A mod of that size should not just add exteriors/interiors but also meaningful and interactive NPCs with quests or some kind of objectives/intersting shops etc. Also note that it conflicts with some of 13Oranges mods that are included in REGS, though if TES Arena ever finished it would be a contender to take their spot imo. REGS is already updated for CRF 1.07 I think if you use the new ETaC town-specific textures, almost all of them are 1k in size. If you choose to use the vanilla textures, then you're probably using SRO textures etc most of which are also 1k in size. You will likely have to look for optimizations elsewhere. SRB are you using SRLE or STEP as a base? I know I've had to extensively DDSopt all of the armor retextures (to 1k DXTx) and skin/body mods (mostly reducing *_msn.dds to 1k uncompressed) to get SRLE + REGS to work smooth on my old HD6950 2GB vram card. The problem with these mod categories is that at first glance one may think they do not add that much gpu load/vram use to the game but in actuality they do. Take Better Males, it adds a whopping 300MB VRAM in any town that has the 8 or 9 different males appear - which is basically any town. If you DDSopt those textures then it only adds 100mb or so while the quality difference is unnoticable (check the Better Males thread as we discussed it there some time ago). Same goes for aMidianborn Book of Silence ane EOtW textures. DDSopt (only reduce size, don't change format) to 1k max will save you huge amount of VRAM in any situation where a lot of different actors appear. Persoanlly I barely notice the difference. And if you add REGS to your game, a lot of different actors will indeed appear everywhere :) Hope that helps. If you need specific DDSopt info about a mod do ask, as I said I've managed to run SRLE + REGS (including Vividian ENB) on my i5 2500k + HD6950 2GB system so I can give you some more tips if you like. -

You can do the vanilla start with LAL unless you have Helgen Reborn installed. Seeing as your issue also occurs at another LAL starts, something is clearly interfering with the cart. Try mfg console mod as well to determine the final esp hat modifies the cart itself. Could also be script related check if nothing overwrites the LAL .psc files in MO. Edit: I = if -
1) How are your enblocal.ini and enbseries.ini configured? 2) With that GPU, though it can run an ENB, you will likely have to reduce some settings in enbseries.ini to get a decent FPS.

Ah yeah I think Nernie's adds a small dock there or something. In any case the REGS - Cities.esp indeed covers all of Nernie's so no need to enable Nernie's original esp. As for LOOT, yeah I tried it for like 2 hours, then I couldn't find the uninstall button fast enough. As CJ said, it keeps changing the mod order, which makes it unpredictable and unpractical in quite a few cases where patching needs to be done. I'm impressed by LOOT's ability to seemingly sort many ESPs in the right order, but it's not flawless in it. In the end I found BOSS to be less of a hassle as once it's set up, it's set in stone - especially now that the masterlist is no longer getting updated. I am also posting yesterday's announcement from ETaC's author MissJennaBee here, as I am sure many of you guys will be looking forward to this! STAGE ONE- Integration of IS's non-conflicting files (Shor's Stone; Stonehills; Raven Rock, Orc Strongholds; Etc.);- Completion of anything in said towns that remains unfinished (including interiors);- Resolution of any existing bugs and generation any currently existing ETaC patches *- Release of modular files and merger these files into ETaC's Complete.esp ** STAGE TWO- The merger of conflicting towns (e.g. Morthal, Falkreath, anything that both mods have.)- I willl do my best to incorporate as much content from both mods as is possible.- Without totally breaking your games. STAGE THREE- The addition of NEW Im. Set. content *** STAGE FOUR- A glorious collaboration on stuff you've never had before from either mod.- a/k/a The Future. * Meaning, Im. Set's files will have patches for anything that ETaC has. Any mods that ETaC has built in compatibility with, Im. Set. will also have built in compatibility with. I'm not testing it against files that ETaC hasn't been tested against, so if there's anything new that's needed relative to Im. Set. specifically, I'm relying on you guys to tell me. ** With the exception DLC towns which will remain in add-on format.*** Prior to the mod's loss of modders, a lot of new content was developed. I'll be taking all of said content and implementing into your game. This will include all of Im. Set's custom dialogue/NPCs/Additional Interiors. Really anything that's been done and that Donut is in possession of. -
Mod Organizer and Skyrim on separate drives
Nearox replied to tehpandemic's question in Mod Organizer Support
If you have both on an SSD, it will go faster, yes. How much faster? That depends on how large the mod organizer mods dir is. It can easily go up to 20, 30 or 40gb when you have many mods installed. If you got the space, definitely put both on your SSD. It will likely reduce stutter, or at least it'll take one obstacle (slow HDD read speed) away towards getting a heavyily modded Skyrim to run smooth. -

Neo, have you considered Realistic Boat Bobbing? The mod fits right in with Animated Clutter. It has compatibiltiy for Falskaar, Wyrmstooth and SMIM. In my game at least there is very minimal clipping left, and can only be observed when I zoom in completely. -

Hmm the only mod that affects Darkwater Crossing is ETaC I think. Could be that Inns and Taverns also adds a structure there or in the area but I don't recall. Did you use the userlist.txt provided in the 'BOSS Userlist Sorting' section? When I did the last install of REGS I found I had to install some of the new ETaC patches that are in the installer but which aren't mentioned in the guide (like SMIM patch etc.). I loaded almost all of them after ETaC - Complete.esp. Edit: nvm this last point I see that regs has been updated with instructions. Other mods that potentially modify buildings and/or terrain there are NSutR, Hearthfire Chimneys & 3DNPCs. I say potentially because I don't know for sure since it's been quite some time ago. Edit2: Did you select the no inns version of ETaC btw? Edit3: It's easy to diagnose where the problem is by using MFG Console , then ingame open the console and point at the floating door it will tell you which esp is (part of) the issue and which formid is the culprit. -
