wanted Installing ASIS and SkyRe with some additional stuff
Nearox replied to Iroha's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
After I used SUM and unchecked the option 'merge patches', there is still a SUM.esp in the load order in MO (as well as a reproccer.esp). Should I now enable or disable SUM? -
CTD and Performance patch ENBoost (by Boris Vorontsov)
Nearox replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Oh damn I just started using ENB 2 days ago. Figured I was gonna use SweetFX with it, couldn't get it to work. Looking at your comments I know understand why :( Damn. Luckily I found a link with the 0.209 version. -
Hmmm I've had that issue too quite some time ago when I just started modding. I wish I could remember how I solved it, but I don't. Probably you should do one of the following: - Be 100% sure that you have a 100% clean Skyrim install. No copy from a previous installation. Use the discvs/download from steam to reinstall Skyrim absolutely clean. - Make 100% sure that you make a vanilla skyrim profile (you could call it a pre-SR profile) in M.O. right after this. - I know you say that you re-did the section 3 times over, but make 100% sure that in your clean Skyrim folder there are NO scripts of SKSE installed (or any other third-party scripts, for that matter, although I do believe the game comes by default with some scripts installed so leave those). The SR:Legendary Eedition guide's SKSE section points you to the specific exe and dll's you should install of SKSE (so use the 7z and not the installer from SKSE). - Now that I am thinking about it, the issue could potentially be related to a lack of Borderless Window mod. I used to have issues with windowed mode in SKSE until I installed that mod, so you may want to enable that mod just for testing purposes during your SR installation. Not sure if this is what solved it for me, but it should be worth giving a try for you. I seem to have version 0.12.9... https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Mod_Organizer Make sure you do the manual update as described at https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1334/?Â

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
Nearox replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
After using DDSOpt on the majority of exterior and also some interior texture packs that come with SR, I decided to give it a try on W.A.T.E.R. Thought I read some forum posts dating from january or february about users having various issues with it. After DDSOpting (as per the DDSOpt wiki on step) with defaults 8192, my VRAM in water-heavy areas (Riverwood, Dragon Bridge and The Rift) has decreased by 100-180mb. In addition, my FPS in those areas increased by 3-7 fps. I personally did not notice a single drop in quality. These gains are on i5 2500k @4.3ghz, 6950 2gb (non-OC), 16gb ram, ssd. -

Does this mean that there is no longer any incompatibility between Werewolf Mastery and BOYD? -
That might be something for the new SR:LE guide. Just to say it as a recommendation/tip/advice at start of the guide :)Â

Well I just used the following process. - Installed AV packages and then ran SUM. - Then I went into mod organizer/overwrite directory. - Copied the /textures folder to a temporary location for backup. This folder includes all the AV package textures. - Then I DDSOpt them all together using 2k textures and 1k normals. - After that I copied the new DDSopted textures to the /overwrite folder and let it replace all the files Job done :) Only drawback is it doesn't give you Mod Organizer control to enable/disable the DDSOpt textures. However you can simply use your backup of the original textures to restore.

Can't edit anymore. Wanted to say I fixed it by moving the mod directory to the default.

Hey guys I am at the final step of installing SR, however I have run into a problem with the SUM - Skyproc Patcher. As per the instructions of SR, I installed SUM via MO. Then I added the executable by using the data structure in the right hand panel. It says that MO will automatically configure SUM. SUM starts successfully but then it does not display 'Automatic Variants' and 'Dual Sheet Redux' in the patcher list. I figured that SUM may not see these parts, as they are loaded by the 'virtual instance' of MO. So I copied SUM to the Skyrim/Data directory and then re-added the exectuable. Now, it does display 'Automatic Variants' and 'Dual Sheet Redux'. However, when I check AV settings, there is no AV package listed (I installed them all and made sure I checked them all). Also when I run the Dual Sheet Redux option it gives me an error saying it cannot find skyrim.esm and update.esm What am I missing here? I have installed Skyrim to C:\Skyrim Mods are in C:\Mod Organizer Mods Everything else of MO is in its default directory C:\Program Filesx86\Mod Organizer Also, when I run FNIS, it says: 373 animations for 2 mods successfully included. It also says >>Warning: Bad installation. Generator not run from a Skyrim installation directory.<< FNIS is supposed to copy some files to the overwrite directory, but no files appear there. EDIT: I checked https://afterimagemetal.com/SkyProc/SUM%20Readme.html for a solution but nothing works.

Ah I see, thx Aiyen :)

LOD Shadow Quality Switch Issue: While the solutions provided by https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/283//? do help, they also result in the 'dynamic shadow range' going closer to my character (as a result of tweaking fshadowdistance to a lower value). Dynamy shadow range issue: My guess is that the latter is a limitation by the engine, as most people I see in videos seem to have this 'aura' around them.

Hey guys, I am trying to get Alternate Start to play nice with Guard Dialogue Overhaul following the instructions of SR. The MQ102 condition is in the first 'block' of the conditions listed. When I move it to AS-GDO Patch it will not be in a new, empty condition , but it will overwrite an exisiting condition. There is an empty condition in the 4th 'condition block' but the condition in that row under Alternate Start - Live Another Life.esp is not MQ102 but is 'GuardFactionWhiteRun'. Which condition am I suppose to copy and to which field? I have followed SR to the letter and so far every TES5Edit went exactly as Neovalen said. As this one appears to have a difference (the newly created conditon is not empty) I have doubts about what to do. See the screenshot links. 1st screenshot: before I clicked 'Add' 2nd screenshot: after I clicked 'Add' https://imgur.com/Z4l2SGn,jjnFHvE#0

Moragg I just tested and fiddled with your INI's for half an hour but whatever I do, the game CTD's between 2 and 5 minutes after login. I changed iNumThreads=5 to 4 (for my 2500k) and went through all the settings. Changed a couple of them to make it compatible with my system (aspect ration, resolution, windowed mode, etc.) The game did feel slightly smoother to play and I seem to have gained 1-2fps (I usually get 50fps in the most taxing areas, 60fps in the rest). VRAM used (according to skyrim performance monitor) was about 1.8gb which means it stayed basically the same as with my own INI's. However, shadows in the distance were seen flickering and the foilage shimmering effect seemed to have gone worse. I guess no same PC setup can have the same INI :) I ended up reverting back to my own INI's, however I am now aware of many settings that I wasn't aware of before. Some of the stuff in your INI isn't even in Skyrim Configurator app I believe :P For now, I'll continue with the last element of my SR setup: Gameplay. Hoping to install SkyRe and make it stable with the guide posted here on the forums. So far my SR install seems perfectly stable, although I did not activate AV packagaes yet as I'm afraid they'll eat away my VRAM and GPU power in general. By the way, any of you experience extensive shimmering? This is a major annoyance I've been having with Skyrim ever since I played vanilla. Recently I tried using AMD's Adaptive Multisampling (for NVDIA this is called transparency AA). It did take most of the shimmering away but my fps dropped to about 40-45fps in the most taxing areas. It did take away most of the annoying shimering from grass/trees/bushes etc. though. Is there any decent alternative to this? I tried FXAA, MLAA and SMAA. The first 2 are too blurry and still dont take away the shimmering effect, while the latter only takes care od edges (and then still misses some). EDIT: I haven;t used an ENB yet. Can an ENB take away the shimmering effect and also remove the 'shadow quality switching effect' that results from FOV/shadowdistance inbalance?

Thx a lot for your INI's. Even though I thought I tweaked mine already quite a bit, they are nothing compared to yours :) One question: I thought I read somewhere (in between the massive amount of skyrim/mod info I read during last 2 weeks) here on STEP forums that using threaded arguments in *.ini's has no positive effect and that it can result in more CTD's. I see you have a lot of threaded arguments in it. How has your experience been with these threaded settings? Have they made your game run smoother? More/less CTD's? I run an i5 2500k @ 4.3 ghz (with 16gb ram, ssd, hd6950 2gb vram) edit: sorry for all the nub questions. Community has is great here @ step!

Well I thought that DDSOpt'd Skyrim HD Lite had mostly 1K textures so I DDSop'ed to 2k as wel... I just changed it to 1k and I also did a DDSOpt to SRO to 1k exteriors 2k interiors. Result: My total average VRAM usage by DDSOpting Skyrim HD Lite - Misc & Towns - went down by 80-120 mb My total average VRAM usage by DDSOpting Skyim Realistic Overhaul went down by 180-220mb! Shaved a total of approximately 300mb off vram usage with very little, if none, noticeable quality loss.

What's your secret? :P Either my card is very inefficient with vram usage or I did something wrong with the graphics packs, but I followed SR to the letter and I'm already using 1k texture packs.

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
Nearox replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
Yup, I used the included 1.6 update pack and the dawnguard files: The torrent linked by SR:LE already includes them. I don't miss any files (anymore): what I want to bring to your attention is that it is the torrent linked by SR:LE that has missing files when compared to the other SRO torrents. I checked in the directories and some folders from the SR:LE linked torrent have less number of files than the same folder from the other torrent. Either the uploader made a mistake of excluding them, deliberately excluded them or the other torrents have extra files (I suppose it's the first). I just enabled my own optimized version of SRO in MO: It replaces about 200 more vanilla files than the SR:LE linked torrent version. In other words, I want to suggest that the contents of the SR:LE linked torrent might be incomplete and that (if I am correct) one of you working on the SR:LE guide should do a comparison to see for yourselves. Missing 200 texture and normal files is quite a lot, I guess. Not posting here to waste your valuable time, of course, if I didn't think it was an issue. Just trying to help out :) I meant, of course, 2k for interiors and 1k for exteriors, sorry for the typo. EDIT: So I just did a little benchmark run. - With the SR:LE linked torrent of SRO, my average VRAM usage was between 1880 and 1940mb - With my DDSOpt (2k interiors, 1k exteriors) of the original SRO files, my VRAM went down to between 1660 and 1700! Haven't really noticed any quality loss yet, but I will need to do more testing. -
Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
Nearox replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
I discovered something about Skyrim Realistic Overhaul torrent link in SR-LE. Thought I'd share it here. I'm fairly new to the modding scene so I might be completely wrong. Neovalen, I know the torrent is not yours. I downloaded others torrents (from Kickass) that have both the 1024k and 2048k texture packs. 1. The 'optimized' package is missing texture files. Both the 1024k and the 2048k original version have 1460 texture files, whereas the 'optimized' version has only 1255 files. 2. The uploader says he used 2k for most exteriors and 1k for most interiors, and he did not use DDSopt on anything except mountains (which are later overwritten by AOF Detailed Mountains anyway in SR guide). I compared the filesizes of the 'optimized' vs the 1024k and 2048k originals and found that the uploader only used the folder Dungeons and dlc1/dungeons & soulcairn for 2k. However, almost all of the clutter and furniture is also largely interior stuff. 3. I therefore used DDSOpt on both the 1024k and 2048k versions I downloaded. For the 1024k version I used 512b normals while I used 1k normals for the 2048k version. 4. I then combined both versions, taking care of properly selecting the folders for the appropriate resolutions for interiors (2k) and exteriors (1k). Conclusion: - SRO 'optimized' version of the SRLE torrent link has a total filesize of 2.24gb, misses 205 texture files and many interior files are in unnecessary 1k resolution. - After I used the original packs to do my own optimizations, SRO now has a total filesize of 1.56gb, has all the 1460 texture files and even has more 2k interior textures. Quick torrent links for those who want to check for themselves. SRO link from SE:LE: https://kickass.to/skyrim-realistic-overhaul-1-6-optimized-1k-2k-t7529272.html SRO link with 1024k textures: https://kickass.to/skyrim-realistic-overhaul-1024k-sized-includes-dawnguard-textures-and-1-6-update-t7527395.html SRO link with 2048k textures: https://kickass.to/skyrim-realistic-overhaul-2048k-sized-includes-dawnguard-textures-and-1-6-update-t7527445.html Am I right with these findings? Or is there something silly which I fail to see...? -
Thank you phazer11 and Aiyen for responses. I understand a bit better now. I play at 1680x1050, 0x AA 16x AF, no ENB. Most of the time my vram is between 1700 and 1950. Occasionally, for instance at the riverwood waterfalls or overlooking the Solitude docks, my vram jumps to 2016mb. I assume the remaining 32mb of the 2048mb is reserved for windows. Playing at 80-90% of vram usage in most exterior environments with occasional spiking to 2gb. Would the spiking be able to cause CTD's? Or are they mostly caused by long-term use of max vram capacity?

Sorry for the necro but I am really curious if you can tell me how you run SR with only 1600-1700 VRAM. So far I have installed everything of SR (except AV's) up till and including Armory-General mods (4.8). I have also ran DDSOPT for the big texture packs as well as for some other mods (like immersive creatures) which have save me over 500mb disk space. My installation has the low res version of all mods. However I currently already run into the limits of the 2GB VRAM of my HD6950. Hitting 16-1800mb in most areas and 1950mb-2gb in places such as riverwood waterfalls...

Thank you so much for posting this Lauren! Now I can continue my SR installation :) CheersÂ

Hi fellow modders, I've been scouring the internet for 2 days trying to find Version 1.4 (+1.4a update) of Langeleys Wood Metal and Stone Textures Workshop for my Skyrim Revisited installation. The author has removed this version from Nexus. Using a newer version is impossible because it includes additional textures and the Revisited guide only tells us which files NOT to install. I checked the legendary edition but the section on this mod is not finished yet. Please help! If someone could upload Version 1.4 + 1.4a update for me to e.g. mediafire or simply send it via gmail (depending on package size) I would be eternally grateful! I'm sure one of you out there has it stored on the computer :)Â

if anyone needs the old version i can try to find a way to get it to you Hey I am installing Skyrim Revisited (after having used STEP successfully for half a year) and got to the point of having to install Langleys Workshop. Therefore I would like to ask you if you could get me a version 1.4 + 1.4a update. I'm afraid that using v 1.5 will give me issues, and I also checked in the legendary guide but it says that this section is still being updated. Would appreciate it a lot as it would allow me to continue and complete Skyrim Revisited!
