  1. Do any of the mods in the Core SE guide include drop lit torches? I would like to add this mod but just wanted to check that it wasn't slipped into the guide somewhere such as the STEP SE Core patch.
  2. This message appears if you launch the Skyrim executable in the game's root folder (the normal way) rather than launching skse64_loader.exe found in the same folder (providing you extracted it there). In order for SKSE to load, you need to launch skse64_loader.exe instead of the game executable. I create a shortcut of skse64_loader.exe onto my desktop and change the icon to the Skyrim icon. I think most of your messages will disappear after you launch skse64_loader.exe.
  3. Never mind, I just noticed Tech's response to the very same question in the bug report forum. https://forum.step-project.com/topic/14524-step-se-core-beta-official-bug-reports/?do=findComment&comment=238534
  4. Discussion topic: Complete Widescreen Fix for Vanilla and SkyUI 2.2 and 5.2 SE by Daisuke Wiki Link I originally posted this 'optional mod' suggestion in the STEP SE Core Guide Support forum before I found this SE mod suggestion forum.
  5. The guide has us install xLODGen but it isn't used later in the guide. Is this for future use? Or is xLODGen not needed anymore?
  6. I ended up abandoning my modded Oblivion installation and started fresh but this time I followed the Bevilex guide on Nexus since it's a finished guide and still being maintained today. I've had a few quirks but nothing I couldn't get past so far. Hopefully, I don't come across a persistent CTD like you have. At one point, the game would crash if I tried to fast travel so I walked instead to a different location and was able to fast travel from there.
  7. Same here. Decided to play Oblivion while waiting for TechAngel85's SSE guide v3 to be completed. Just started playing (still in the caves). Not sure if my play-through exhibits the same issues or not but I'll keep my eye open for these (even though your post is 2 years old now...LOL).
  8. Is the Grass Overhaul mod supposed to be the end of the guide? Feels like it abruptly ended like the ending was accidentally deleted or something. I completed every step except for running TES4LL because I haven't learned how to use it yet. Game runs fine, no issues so far (although I haven't made it out of the caves yet). Just seems like the guide was cut short or something. It does say it's an unfinished guide though so maybe mods such as OCO (or similar) will get added later? Either way, my Oblivion is looking great so far after following this guide!
  9. I just noticed there is a Morriwind S.T.E.P. guide as well. I suspect there will be lots of great modding in my future followed by rewarding gameplay! Gotta love S.T.E.P.!
  10. Thanks! Maybe I give this STEP guide a try. Nothing worse than getting a bunch of mods installed and then having your game CTD consistently at 6 hours into a play through. Stability is important to me. I have a fast computer but the fastest computer in the world will still CTD if mods don't play nice, especially in Oblivion! Seems like Oblivion will crash just because it's Oblivion. I watched a video the other day that mentioned using streamsaving is more stable than vanilla saving; haven't tried it out yet however. FYI, there is also a 10 year anniversary modding guide by PredCaliber on YouTube. I watched the video and he makes some interesting points. Might be worth watching if you haven't already. I'm excited to mod Skyrim SE but I decided to wait until after SKSE64 is done and many mods are available which support it. So I'm here in Oblivion (since I never finished it) until SKSE64 happens.
  11. Is this guide the best one to use at this point? I'm looking for a good guide to mod Oblivion but most of them are old and don't use newer mods.
