Better textures for Project Nevada Fallout 3 restored weapons - possible?

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to use WMX and Project Nevada together with weapon retextures for Fallout 3 weapons?

I'm not sure if there is a pack that covers stuff like the Chinese Pistol and the Assault Rifle or what.

Chris's should work.  I'm working on the TTW-WEP-EVE-IMPACT-WMX patch atm, and Chris's textures have the same UV map as WMX.  However anything WMX added attachments, such as a scope, may not match the main weapon then.

I'm using Fallout 3's Weapon Enhancement Project to great success to improve everything but the Chinese Pistol. You could use Millenia's C96 Mauser for that.

How would you go about doing this? I downloaded the F3 WEP and tried to compare textures to those included in PN, but can't seem to find matching ones. (I realize I'm probably way out of my experience here)

I just installed the textures the way you would install any other texture mod, and hid any plugins that came with it.

That's because PN uses vanilla assets for the FO3 weapons it restores (a great deal of FO3 assets were included in the NV vanilla game)

Thanks, that makes sense. Wouldn't the mauser pistol have problems with weapon mods though, considering Millenia's mauser has different mods (and thus different meshes) than the chinese pistol?

The replacer I'm using for the PN weapons is Weapon Enhancement Project by ChristopherWallace, not Millenia. It doesn't replace the Chinese Pistol. Millenia's C96 is a different weapon than the Chinese Pistol.

Millenia's C96 is the Chinese Pistol just with a unique formid and name.  It's easily used as a replacer along with the Combat Shotgun.

I got that part. You did seem to imply that you could replace the chinese pistol textures with Millenia's C96 ones, hence the question about differing meshes.

EDIT: Adonis's post popped up while I was writing this, I was replying to MosAnted.

I'm guessing you just rename the textures accordingly to the FO3 BSA structure?

Sorry I misunderstood your question. I remember there being a replacer for using Millenia's C96 mauser for FO3. I haven't tried it myself but I imagine you would need a plugin to "point" the Chinese Pistol to use Millenia's meshes rather than the default ones. As for mods, the only thing I can think of is that you'd be stuck with a pistol that wouldn't change when modded, unless someone makes compatible meshes.
