Well if anyone knows how to make it compatible with SMIM and/or clean/forward USKP changes, could that person post instructions here?

I posted them for him, ironically enough. linkie Down to the nodes. Might be some more now, haven't checked the latest versions.

I think the author is just a little sensitive about all the time he put into his mod. And it looks the mod has gone through a number of revisions in a relatively short period of time, so maybe part of his irritable attitude about the endorsements issue was sleep-deprivation. I also think that the author may also not really be familiar with how some of the tools that people are asking him to use on his mod work.

In his last update, v2.2, the Change Log shows that he's cleaned the plugins in TES5Edit. He's also added a new DG & DB version (the DB edits are new,) so I downloaded it to take a quick look and compare them this morning before heading off to work.

I didn't catch any ITM records, but there are still some oddities, such as a couple of location names still in Italian, and I saw one record with an EDID of 'v' - I have to assume that was a mistake.EDIT: I forgot to mention the out-of-orders list of masters in the header of the new DG+DG plugin, which has already been mentioned in the NSUtR comments thread - though Prometheus seems to be aware of that, having mentioned some troubles with it.

I also see that he's using custom names for all the edited meshes, so with regards to my earlier comment about incorporating compatibility between the SMIM farmhouse with ropes mesh and NSUtR, it will ahve to be option 2. In other words, the fix needs to be a mesh file that adds the snow piles from NSUtR to the SMIM mesh, but named such that it would replace the one provided by NSUtR. It being a loose file means that it would "overwrite" the one in NSUtR's .BSA, and in MO you'd just want to make sure that mesh file came somewhere after NSUtR in the mod priority order.

Judging from everything I've seen so far, though, and despite what I've said, it seems this patch will have to come from a third party who has gotten expicit permission from both Prometheus and Brumbek.

@DoYouEvenModBro - with all due respect, I disagree. Regardless of an author's attitude, I believe it simply goes against all common courtesy in the modding "world" or "scene" to simply emulate somebody else's original idea because they won't / can't fix a few relatively minor things.

Making requests, particularly for best compatibility with a baseline of a vanilla game (plus the unofficial patches, probably), is fair enough, but it's the author's mod, and their perogative to implement those things or not. So then it's up to us whether we accept that and use the mod, or not, and also to fix it ourselves to bring compatibility with our particular mod lineup.

But, if somebody wants to share those compatibility fixes with everyone else (on Nexus or elsewhere,) then by common courtesy, and respecting each author's terms of usage, he/she really needs to contact and get permission from the authors of all involved mods.

I still found dirty edits in the newest version of DG + DB. Sleep deprivation doesn't explain feeling entitled to endorsements, or wielding them as some weird sort of blackmail.

This isn't in my current playthrough. Once he stops frequent updates I may look at it again, if he's actually made fixes to things people have pointed out as important. I just don't have the energy to pore over his work right now, especially since detailed feedback on that sort of thing is ignored.

My bad - you are right (I knew I should try to check while getting ready for work!) I looked again, and the new v2.2 DG+DB plugin has 4 ITMs. Maybe I clicked in the wrong spot... However, all 4 ITMs are placed objects in Solstheim World cells, so it just wasn't cleaned after adding those new DB edits.

Also, earlier I didn't mention that there are still a good number of placed object records in NSUtR that reverts USKP position changes back to the vanilla values. And also I see some of the edited object with the added snow are missing the view when distant (VWD) record flag.

All in all, nothing game-breaking, to my knowledge, but yes, it's probably best to wait until the dust (or falling snow) has cleared, no more frequent changes, and then talk about what records need to be cleaned up.

Do you mind sending Prometheus a private Nexus message with the instructions you put in the forum? Maybe he missed that one/forgot about it amidst answering other posts, since it's got a bit of detail in it.

He directly replied to it, lol. EDIT: And yeah, that's me. Same person :) I'm just really not in the right mood to deal with prometheus right now, and I'm not an expert anyway like some of the hardcore modders are. Maybe down the road when development slows down and I've got less frustrating stuff going on IRL and he doesn't make me want to throw my monitor out the window.

Except some of the posts here are downright insulting to be frank.

Is he the equivalent of a Reddit Karma  w h o r e, but on the Nexus?

This for example does not belong here, and gives a bad image of the STEP community. Edited by CJ2311

He's quite right though, but it all comes down to his insatiable need for endorsements. That just spiraled out of control, now we see what the internet thinks of this kind of people 0.o Plus, as Gruftlord said in nexus: "However, you undeniably have a hard time getting your mod to the technical level many of us expect from a mod in 2014." Making compatibility patches for more popular mods (I usually go by who has more endorsements or the mod author with more technical knowledge) and cleaning/removing dirty edits has become common and expected from authors as there is now TONS of documentation on TESVEdit/CK/WB etc.

He is not required at all to make compatibility patches for a mod in which the author has shown to be very helpful even to lesser known mods (talking about SMIM) but if he doesn't do it (considering all I said above) he also has no right to complain that people unendorse and make all that drama.

Finally, he is welcome to come here, post here and talk to us, I don't think any member of this community has ever shunned anyone, and if he doesn't know much about the tools above he can ask for help here, honestly I never found such a helpful community online (one of the reason I still play skyrim). But it is a community with a goal and a certain modlist in mind so if we say "not compatible with x/y/z" it's not "whining" but the need to make it compatible for us. If there is no patch, don't complain if people post something like "it's a shame that I can't use this because of incompatibilities" (there are quite a few of these here).

P.S.: Not a rant, just to make it clear for everyone that this is not a hate forum and this mod is actually pretty awesome... if it had compatibility (lol :p)

I find it weird that he comes here and copies 10 posts to repost them on Nexus to show just how much are people insulting him rather than actually posting and discussing things.

He would have to deal with many times less spam in here than in the comments on Nexus, and gotten much more valuable information, but I guess he chose different path "in life". So be it, it's his right to be the way he is. We can only be sad (and the people who actually understand the technical things behind all this even more).
