I have an issue where the memory parameters in SKSE.ini are not being applied. Using the skse_steam_loader from the new skse alpha build or Neo's skse_steam_loader from the first page of this thread results in 256mb being allocated for both blocks, regardless of the parameters I put in the skse.ini. Only when I use Neo's original dll file that was posted in this thread with the hardcoded memory block modifications independent of the skse.ini file did I finally see that 512mb was allocated for memory block 1. Anybody have any idea why I can't get the parameters to be read from the skse.ini file?

1. Are you using the Steam version?

2. Is your SKSE.ini an INI file or a TXT file?

Not sure what steam version you're talking about. I was using the files from the skse 1.7 alpha build archive.

I believe my game is the steam version. If I have steam closed and I try to start skyrim, it prompts me to launch steam.

-forcesteamloader is not needed in order for the memory patch to load.

Since the modified version of the skse_steam_loader.dll with the hardcoded increase in size of block 1 works for you, then there's just a few possible reasons why the .ini based skse_steam_loader.dll or the SKSE alpha build aren't seeing your .ini settings:

1. The file extension is wrong. With a Windows Explorer window open, choose Tools -> folder options, and make sure Hide extensions... is NOT ticked. Then check if skse.ini is actually named skse.ini.txt and if yes, rename it to remove .txt so the name is just skse.ini and click [yes] to the warning about changing the file extension.

2. The skse.ini is in the wrong place. Make sure it is located in ... \skyrim\Data\SKSE, and not in any other location.

3. The wrong setting labels in the text of skse.ini are being used. They are different depending on which variation of sheson's patch you're using.

Check on #1 and #2, and if those don't work, let's see the contents of skse.ini for whichever variation of sheson's patch you're currently trying to get to work.

Glad to hear it!

I saw you also posted in the comments thread of sheson's memory block logger "mod" on Nexus, so I replied with the same advice for anyone coming through.

The file extension thing is a very common "gotcha" for people, along with confusion on the location of .ini files.

I really don't understand why SKSE or other software which have .ini options don't just include an empty .ini file in the right location of the install archive, which can just be opened up and added to if the user so wishes.

OK this deal with Skyrim crashing is getting really annoying. Using SSME /w stable ugrids (5) to load and fully modded game with 1k textures and based on the SR/SR:LE guide. I crash when crossing cells (I use the tb command to tell) near Riverwood and Whiterun. I've been playing the game until level 16 with no crashes so far and now they start again.

I use Somber ENB too.

I attached my mod list and my load order.

I just don't get it any more. No creature spawn mods and yet it crashes at cell borders. Any hints by an expert?
