rootsrat Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Hi guys. I asked our Admins to create this subforum for Fallout fans out there (I'm sure there are many of us here!). Feel free to banter freely about Fallout in this thread. I will be looking at creating a Fallout New Vegas modding guide, possibly this weekend, so watch this space.
EssArrBee Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 This is sweet. I have a nice little list of mods that might look a bit like a STEP-ish thing for FNV. I bet a couple others have a list too if you guys wanted compare and maybe put a page together for it.
rootsrat Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Awesome! I have this Friday and Monday off - 4 days long weekend basically - so I will definitely spend some time on this!Â
EssArrBee Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Well, here is a list I've put together, you can take a look at it. I've had it for a while, but wasn't ever able to test it a lot myself. I put it in order of sections like STEP just to make it easier, but without gameplay since the patches and what not are a nightmare. No clue if Poco Bueno or NMC first, they are both good. Cabal's stuff for creatures is really amazing though, I wish he'd go back to the Book of Water.
rootsrat Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Nice one. There are a few I've not been aware of, I'll be defo checking them out.
phosphor Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Essarrbee I'm eager to see what game play mods you choose. Gopher has been doing a FNV let's play and has his mods used. Another possible place to draw inspiration from Rootstrat. I'm excited to see a guide made. Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk
EssArrBee Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I guess I'll work on it a bit this weekend if people actually want to use it. I know that roots still plays FNV and Kelmych knows a lot of good mods too. If anyone has good suggestions, I'm always looking for nice stuff to add to my list. What I posted is just a STEP-ish list of mods, enhanced vanilla, not an overhaul. As for hardcore gameplay, I'd probably do that like a pack where you would integrate it into a list of mods, install order gets important with FNV mods. A big problem also, is a mod manager, there is no one program that does everything you need. A Bashed Patch is just to important, merged patches from FNVEdit just suck for some more advanced mods like Spice of Life, but then only NMM can run those OneHUD and UnifiedHUD scripts for installs and MO does not do archive invalidation properly with WFO in my experience. I use the ESP-less version because the UDRs and ITMs in the other two are way to high and they can't be cleaned up, and there are always red exclamations when using MO. Now that the MO support staff is a part of STEP maybe I can get them to fix or workaround some of these issues.
rootsrat Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 I pretty much has just copied Gopher's build with a couple of my own additions. I was out of game of Fallout modding for a couple of years and I haven't followed any mods. I use however Mod Organizer for FNV. I've also tested Project Reality (I used to use it ages ago) and new Nevada Skies (URLWFied - it's not available on Nexus anymore) and I didn't like either, so I sticked to Gopher's choice of Wasteland Lighting Overhaul, or whatever it's called. I found really nice ENB that looks extremely well with that mod and also uses newest 225 dll, that allows for ENBoost to be used, and therefore ditch FNV4GB + you can use better quality textures overhauls! It also makes the game more stable, as it's run via NVSE rather than FNV4GB.exe. I currently use over a 100 mods (about 130 plugins that is) and my game is perfectly stable so far, although it's still at early stages. As I've said, I'll look into this more closely over the weekend, but I have a feeling we will be able to create a great modding guide here!
