TechAngel85 Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Discussion thread:Improved Vanilla Mountains HD by rgabriel15Wiki Link Dropped in v3.0.
Southman Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 I like them very much! Always prefered vanilla mountains. Anyway, you might want to consider have terrain bump for the mountains now that you have excluded AOF detailed mountains. Improved Vanilla mountains HD looks much better (imho) with terrain bump. Comparison: Without Terrain bump: https://oi44.tinypic.com/2v8lhqw.jpg With Terrain bump: https://oi43.tinypic.com/y1il1.jpg  (With only mountainslab02_n.dds installed in terrain bump, looks better that way)
Smile44 Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Terrain Bump is in STEP Core along with this already. :)
Southman Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Yeah but STEP recommends to delete the mountainslab-files :) https://wiki.step-project.com/Terrain_Bump#Recommendations
TechAngel85 Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 We recommend deleting the mountain slabs from Terrain Bump because during our texture compares we found out that it makes some texture mods look really bad. True that if only Improved Vanilla Mountains HD is used it looks better; however, since Terrain Bump is a Core mod we had to take into consideration that Pack authors might use other texture mods. Therefore, the removal of the slab textures were necessary for best Core compatibly.
Xzender Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I just want to bring to attention that his mod has been removed from the STEP guide's landscape and environment section. Is this intentional? I don't see anything regarding this in the changelog.
TechAngel85 Posted January 11, 2014 Author Posted January 11, 2014 It's not intended. Unfortunately I don't have a computer to fix it right now. Hopefully one of the staff will jump on this.
EssArrBee Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Hmm…. There was a yellow error box on the guide I mentioned last week and it was probably this mod that got messed up some how. It is on the working 2.2.8 guide as well so we will have fix both.
DoYouEvenModBro Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Is the BCF provided in order to automatically delete those two files? Also, I took another look at the comparison shots that Southman posted. I actually disagree and I think that the mountains looks better WITHOUT the Terrain Bump mountain slabs. They look so jaggedy with the mountain slab files.
