Aiyen Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Removed because I forgot I already had used the same opinion earlier! Silly meÂ
WilliamImm Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 I personally prefer Empowered magic over Mighty magic since I think it sticks closer to the vanilla magic and spell system' date=' and only does sensible fixes that make magic more balanced. Also last I checked it was better updated with DB support. And it allows one to remove Acquisitive Soul Gems... Do not really know why but that mod just annoyed me since the start of my SR install.[/quote']You've already said that. I much prefer using Skyrim Redone or Better Magic to change the magic system (depending on how I feel), and I prefer to keep ASG and Projectile Soul Trap. ASG is not that hard to install or use, don't say that it is.
Aiyen Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 There updated the above! Since you are entirely correct and I forgot about that! Also I have found an error in that comment actually. Since Enhanced Projectile Soul Trap is not included.. one just need to install the non ASG version of it. But I would never say that it is difficult to install or use... it is about as straight forward as they come. Guess my annoyance at it was due to the issues it caused when I first installed SR... due to ASG being at the bottom of the list and the other at the top... and me forgetting to deactivate Enhanced Projectile Soul Trap the first times while learning how MO worked. Better magic was my 2nd choice but lost out because it had not been updated in a while when I checked and empowered magic had DB support. I do like SkyRE, and my first small "playthough" before I found SR had its mod list based around it, but with SR I wanted a more vanilla experience before I try a complete overhaul. But in general then I guess all magic overhauls except SkyRE is fairly simple to implement in SR... only ASG could really provide an issue. I do not use Magic Duel anymore due to a large number of inconsistent bugs, frezzes and CTD´s it gave me.... also while I think the effect and idea is awesome, then I also predicted that I would properly get tired of the clicky click way it works rather fast. But I will most definitely return too check it out once the author updates it!
Iroha Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 thanks for explanation, installing SkyRe (sad about mighty magick - it's cool, really) with SkyTEST in a while:) I dont use Magic duel too, hope new version will be much better.
statmonster Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 If I don't play a Mage, I suppose it would be better to disable Magic Duel. One less thing for the engine to keep track of during play. It does look really cool though, I can see why I would want to use it if playing a Mage.
statmonster Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Hair: Apachii Sky hair (https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10168) looks nice, but is over the top and can have some pretty serious clipping issues. Does our hero have a team of stylists accompany him/her everywhere he/she goes? Given the plus and minuses of this mod I often leave it off. However, when I do use Apachii I really like to use the wigs optional download so that the character is not bald underneath their helmet (which characters spend most of the time wearing). (That said what is "cazy" and "v"? I know one is a bit longer than the other but have no idea what these terms mean and can never remember which is which.) A somewhat more believable hair mod is Azar's Ponytail Hairstyles mod (https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/31797). The general appearance of most of these seem more 'sensible' and don't look like the character just stepped out of a Hollywood hair stylists'. The first option has a two tone appearance with the temples a slightly different shade, while the other options seem to change the color of the hair quite a bit - presumably you could fiddle around with RaceMenu's colors to correct this but I have never bothered. Although designed for human females they generally work ok for males and other races. Any other suggestions for hair mods?
Neovalen Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I also have a love-hate relationship with Apacii SkyHair... some are over the top, some aren't. The good part is it affects only the initial char creation and you don't have to use the over the top ones if you don't want to. I prefer to keep then enabled but I definitely wouldn't use a big all NPC hair replacer with it or anything like that... I like having the choice :).
statmonster Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Now the the pre-cache killer seems to have resolved the crashing it seems a much easier choice to choose more choices... before that was an invitation to a CTD.
Aiyen Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 If you want a good laugh you can always install the mod that gives NPC´s apachii hairs.... it is so hilarious that it just hurts. Guess one could make a mod that only takes the hairs that are not over the top and distributes them to NPC´s As I recall there is a short guide on how to get started with that... or perhaps it was just on how to remove certain hairs from the list of char gen. What I really wish for is a mod that would make the vanilla hairs have the same seeming quality of the apachii hairs... Even with the hair improvement mods in SR they still look like eye sores compared to everything else on characters atm.
Smile44 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 NPCs of Dibella works quite well but is a huge file with some performance drop due to NPCs having better hair. Mixes several hair mods to specifically give better hair to each NPC. ONly females done so far (most of them) - not yet ready for Dragonborn but compatible with everything else (generalisation). Worth looking at if that is what you want. :) An outrageously cool hair effect is Lara Croft in the new tomb raider - only seen properly when running the graphics on ultimate.

statmonster Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Cabal has a new mod out this - aMidianBorn Targe of the Blooded. See https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/34635. However it is 4096 x 2048. Next up are Dwarven Light Armor - but this might be for the online game only (or it is based off of the online game, not quite sure) and something for hothtrooper's Immersive Armors - both by this weekend. He plans to have Glass out later this month. Speaking of armor mods - UNP Armor Replacer Package (https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/34102/) by MadBomber83 is quite clever. It allows you to choose which UNP armor mod you want to use for each armor and clothing type. You can choose one mod for bandit1 and another for bandit2, etc. You go through the installer one armor or clothing type at a time and see a picture of each mod's take on the armor/clothing and then choose the one you want to install. It's expanding pretty rapidly - there are about a dozen mods in there now covering most of both the more popular lore friendly and skimpy mods (or just choose vanilla). It just changes the meshes, the only textures provided by a mod for a new feature - like a strap or underwear if a mod adds such an item. This way if will pass cabal's excellent textures right through. Further if you choose "vanilla" it passes through whatever you were previously using with MO. You also have the option to only choose certain armor or clothing types in the installer or only choose certain mods to display as options in the installer. This allows you to alter a few choices if you wee unhappy with what you chose the first time but don;'t want to redo everything. It's set up for UNP rather than UNPB, you can drop in the UNPB meshes into it before you run it - Exeter's UNP Female armor (sued by SR) is an option, to get UNPB just drop his UNPB meshes into the replacer where his UNP base meshes are before you run the installer. Very clever. His companion mod Madd Haven (https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/34251) creates a couple of world spaces with NPCs wearing all of your chosen (female) armor and clothing options - you can open it up and stroll through them to see what they all look like. This is great to test which armor/clothing textures and meshes you like and which you want to alter. Since it creates them all in game it works no matter what mods/bodies/options you use. I suspect he could pretty easily create more bags for male armor/clothing too. It only works on replacer armor - not craftable only ones - though it could probably be modified to add extra NPCs for those too. The combination of these mods seems pretty useful for tweaking armor and clothing options.
Neovalen Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I saw that... definitely on my download ASAP list when I get home.
Aiyen Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 There is also the new skyproc patcher for various textures and bodies for NPC´s out now. Might be interesting down the line. Just the texture part is very interresting if it is not possible to get the other .nif types working.Â
