The Beta Wrye Bash Guide to STEP Installation is available

on THE WIKI

Based on the advice I received from users here, I will be asking TC to host on his site if he wishes. I will also host right here on the STEP wiki site when final. It is not yet final, but I will make it so once we have a fully compatible BOSS-Wrye Bash implementation to support Skyrim v1.5.

Doesn't this seem like the load order is being changed? and what effect on the saves might this be having? Hmm!

Everything is still in the correct order so I doubt it'll cause any real problems, but is weird that without changing anything two different saves think they're in different orders. I thought the plugin order was supposed to be continuous, how did it manage to skip from 00 to 03 in the first place? Sounds like a bug to report to the WB guys.

Yes, I would submit it with as much detail as you can provide (or link to)

Hello all,

I have used the STEP before, a long time ago, but this is my first time actually paying attention and reading etc.  I spent all of last week reading the guides/how-to's, and determining which mods up to 2.I I want to include.  I decided that Today I want to try to actually install some of them instead of just downloading and reviewing.

I have never used WB or TES5Edit before, but I thought I had a grasp on them from the guides.  Unfortunately neither of them can see any mods outside of the defaults.  I 'think' I have an idea what the problem is, but don't know of a way to fix it.  I have an SSD and a regular disk.  I installed steam onto the regular, because I don't want my other games filling my precious SSD, and I installed SKyrim to the SSD. My skyrim is in C:\Skyrim\SteamApps\common\Skyrim.  My steam is in D:\Games\Steam...  but I don't understand why WB and TES4Edit can see the Update, Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn but can't see the 2.D Fixes I put in the C:\Skyrim\SteamApps\common\Skyrim Mods\Bash Installers.

Let me know if I need to supply any additional information

Have you run the Skyrim launcher yet? Among other tasks, this installs keys into the registry that tell where the Skyrim game is located. Until you do this WB and TES5Edit don't know where to look except for default directories. After you do this you will probably need to edit bash_default.ini in the Mopy folder (where WB is located) in the Skyrim Directory; you would do this only if WB doesn't find all the directories you are using.

I'm assuming you already configured Steam so it looks in the right place.

In need of some help: I've reinstalled Wyre Bash and now I'm trying to drag and drop mods into the installers and it's not working. I've even manually placed them in the installers directory and they don't show up. I've refreshed the installers tab and even closed out of Wyre Bash and re-opened it. Have I missed a step reinstalling it?

Thank you for your reply.

I have run Skyrim already from steam.  I did it right after all the INI tweaks so I could get the baseline benchmarks with GPU-Z and Fraps.  I'm pretty sure that both WB and TES5Edit are looking in the right directories, because I have already used TES5Edit to clean Dawnguard-Dragonborn.  Also WB shows Skyrim.esm, Update.esm, Dawnguard.esm, Hearthfires.esm, Dragonborn.esm, and HighResTexturePack01-03.esp.

If I read the guide right, it said to rename the bash_default.ini to bash.ini.  That's what I did.

I also changed the following:

;sOblivionMods=..\Skyrim Mods -> sOblivionMods=C:\Skyrim\SteamApps\common\Skyrim Mods

;sBashModData=..\Skyrim Mods\Bash Mod Data -> sBashModData=C:\Skyrim\SteamApps\common\Skyrim Mods\Bash Mod Data

;sInstallersData=..\Skyrim Mods\Bash Installers\Bash -> sInstallersData=C:\Skyrim\SteamApps\common\Skyrim Mods\Bash Installers\Bash

;sOblivionPath=G:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim -> sOblivionPath=C:\Skyrim\SteamApps\common\Skyrim

Steam is configured to look in the right place.  WHen I was re-installing Skyrim to get a fresh vanilla, I told it to install to the C:\Skyrim folder, instead of the D:\Games\Steam folder.

I can launch it with steam just fine, and load it into a full game, and I can launch it from my SKSE launcher as well.

Thanks again, let me know what else I can provide to you.

The normal path for the mods would be C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim Mods\Bash Installers?

Yes, that is correct if installing Steam to C: drive.
That was a sort of rhetorical question for the guy above ;)

It looks like the 'skyrim mods' folder that WB creates is not in the proper directory. Is it just under the'skyrim' folder which will be in the 'common' folder of the Steam install?

What version of WB are you using?

Well on my computer it would be D:\...  But yes.  I said that and I'm not sure what you needed by asking that question. :/

@winflakes

When you launch WB, I understand that you see the vanilla plugins under the "Mods" tab. What do you see under the "Installers" tab? If nothing, and you are not prompted to "Refresh" the Installers, then right click the header bar of the Installers and make sure "Enabled" is checked. Then select "Full Refresh".

If you still get nothing, then go to C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim Mods\Bash Installers\Bash\ and look for a file called "Installers.dat". If it exists (with a timestamp equal to the date that you last launched WB), then you have WB set up correctly.

OK, I just uninstalled skyrim from the C:\ and installed it in the D:\Games\Steam Directory. I launched up Skyrim from steam to create all the necessary INI files. Launched up TES5Edit and it found my files, and I was able to re-clean them. I dropped a couple of my downloads into "D:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim Mods\Bash Installers" and booted up Wrye Bash to see if they could be found. I also went into the Wrye Bash "Bash_Default.ini" and changed the four lines from above to point to the right directory on the D:\ drive. Wrye Bash found all the Bethesda files, but none of the mods. They werent in the "mods" tab or the "Installers" tab. I unzipped one of the mods and dropped it directly in the "D:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data" and both Wrye Bash and TES5Edit were able to see the mod.

I must be missing a step or something. I'd love to get on vent/mumble/teamspeak/skype with someone if they are willing.

Thank you!  That fixed it.  I remember reading that in the guide section, but I had never used WB and I wasn't exactly sure what that meant.  I realize now that the "header bar" was for the inside the tab, not the main bar at the top. All works great now.
