DoYouEvenModBro Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Did we ever figure out recommendations for the new updated files? Or should we still recommend the old file for now?
Kelmych Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 We need to look at the new versions to see how they compare with the old. The new versions have received favorable comments in the Nexus mod page forum posts. We will need some screenshots at a few representative locations with the old and new versions.

z929669 Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Is noone going to help out and provide a comparison for this one? c'mon guys!
WilliamImm Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 I'd love to do one, but computer being out and all that...
z929669 Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 That's OK. You do a lot already ... we have over 2,000 potential contributors I am in the middle of my latest attempt to finally get the game installed according to the guide using MO this time, and am finding that there are several mod updates that need to be looked at. I might get to it myself if nobody beats me to it, but I am moving very slowly.
phazer11 Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 I'm finishing up my installs and doing several test runs at making the DDSOpt video. If it's still needing to be done by idk say Christmas I will get it done
TechAngel85 Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 With no computer to test on, I'm of no use in testing. I'll be putting together a barebones system at the end of this month though I'm not sure I'll be able to test on it either. It'll be running an Intel i3 with the included Intel graphics (4600) until Febuary when I can complete the system as a gaming powerhouse. Hope you enjoy MO, Z!
Kelmych Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I recently assembled a new computer (I do still have the old one) and, like Z, I'm starting the process to setup Skyrim to use MO as it should make it easier to test and work with the various STEP mod and pack options. I'm still working on tasks like the DDSopt guide and various troubleshooting questions, but it will be a while before I can do useful mod testing with the new setup for mods like the one in this thread.
z929669 Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Updated OP with relevant compares. I still think that EDT Earth is the best option with HDET v8 a close second. EDT is just a bit more subtle, and will look better for those that cannot set fGrassStartFadeDistance = 25000.0000. These persons will see a band of ugly terrain without noise map or rendered grass/trees: fGrassStartFadeDistance = 7000.0000 EDT-Earth (current STEP)Â Â Â HDET Pro Blended HDET v8 also looks better this way, but the more course distance terrain does not work as well as EDT, so EDT is the best compromise for all, IMO.
Spock Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 EDT matches color a little better, but I like the extra noise of this one. Also the medium distance texture could use a higher resolution.
james4832 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 In my opinion EDT-Earth looks better, much more 'natural' looking. The HDET has too much noise IMO.
