Skyrim Revisited: Legendary Edition News
Nebulous112 replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
No, "use the record from" means right-click the plugin name at the top of the right pane of xEdit and "copy as override". For the first one you do, you will want to create a new file (plugin). Name it whatever you want. Then you will notice that in the right pane showing the conflict it will show your new plugin at the end of the list with the data from the other plugin. Then you can drag the changes you want to make over from the other plugins that reference that record. It's usually a bad idea to change records in the actual mod plugins themselves. Not because it won't work (as long as you change the winning plugin), but because you can forget what was changed, and it is difficult to recover from a mistake without re-downloading the plugins. And if you can't remember which plugins were changed to begin with, then you are really screwed up. How I learned was from watching the few videos available online (Thallassa has a decent one that I have posted a link to before), reading the xEdit documentation on the Creation Kit site, but mostly doing what you are doing...following along with Neo's guide. If you are ever unsure of a change, you can double check by comparing your patch with Neo's premade one. Just copy some dummy plugins and name them with any missing masters (if you have any) to trick xEdit into loading Neo's patch. Good luck! Edit: Also, just to be clear, you don't want to make a new file for every change. That would be craziness. One new plugin for your CR is fine (or two, one for Neo's CR, one for CR with your personal mods not in Neo's list). Also, make sure to sort masters on the patch(es) when you are done, and add DELEV and RELEV bash tags. -
It is weird...somebody reported on the official LOOT thread on the Bethsoft forums that the new LOOT would not work on MO2 at all, but worked on MO just fine. Apparently individual user systems and environments seem to be making all the difference in how LOOT is operating for people.

PSA: LOOT masterlist update thread
Nebulous112 replied to Nebulous112's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
Done. -
Nazenn is organizing suggestions to add to the LOOT masterlist for Skyrim over on Reddit. For at least the next 24 hours, if you have any suggestions to add to the LOOT masterlist, see this Reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/4rawf8/loot_masterlist_what_needs_to_be_updated_or_added/ He has more info and some templates to fill out with required info if you want to make a submission. If you have a Reddit account and know of any changes that should be made to the masterlist, this is a pretty easy way to submit them. Just be warned that he may submit these in as little as 24 hours, but he said he may keep it open if suggestions start piling in.

The most recent list of FISS-supported mods is here. SkyUI is a core mod, and there is a SkyUI-FISS patch available from the SkyTweak page. However, those SkyTweak files are obviously not a part of STEP (yet). If this gets added, however, I would advocate that we also add those FISS patches. Might as well make full use of FISS if we are going to add it! Edit: Wording Edit 2: I haven't tested those FISS Patches yet from the SkyTweak optional files to see if they actually require SkyTweak. If they do, obviously a no-go. But I think they are independent files. I will check them out, anyway.

ACCEPTED Book Covers Skyrim - Lost Library (by DanielCoffey)
Nebulous112 replied to Nebulous112's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Since I posted the topic, I have installed and played with the mod. The books added are great, and fit right in with the world (which makes sense, seeing as the sources are past games and developer texts). Visually, the books are directly on par with the rest of the books in STEP (which also makes sense, given that this is an extension of the original Book Covers Skyrim). I vote for Extended on this. -
I have been using FISS, and I found it useful to save MCM settings for mods that utilize it. When I restarted, it saved me time setting up MCM presets. Timing Is Everything and Thieves Guild Requirements have FISS settings. Also, the SkyTweak page has optional FISS patches for iHUD, SkyUI, and MoreHUD (currently in STEP testing). This could tie in very well to the MCM recommendations page in development. It is also just a generally good resource mod to have included if anyone wants to build on STEP with later mods. There is no possibility of conflicts with anything, so no testing is really necessary. I don't see any possible downside to including this in STEP. I vote for STEP Core on this.

Skyrim Revisited: Legendary Edition News
Nebulous112 replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
Yeah, better to use the alpha, actually. I think in the last update (or the one previous), a bug was found in xEdit that had been there since day 1. NPC attack data was not being forwarded correctly in all cases. Arthmoor found it when it turned out that vampire NPCs weren't using one of the vampire spells at all. Bug fixed in xEdit alpha, and vampire bug fixed in latest USLEEP. -

FNIS Skeleton Arm Fix not working
Nebulous112 replied to Homeslice1287's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking your FOV choice; I just meant that I don't know if there are many people who could confirm if there is a safe way of playing with an FOV of 90-100. If an FOV around 70 is too small, try 81. IIRC (and I could be misremembering), that was the old STEP FOV recommendation, so 81 should be safe. Is that a sufficiently high FOV? -
FNIS Skeleton Arm Fix not working
Nebulous112 replied to Homeslice1287's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I don't really know anyone that plays with an FOV setting that high. Personally, mine is 70.59. -
Yeah, that is a known bug with Frostfall. This mod might do the trick for you, though: Hide Those Futile Quests I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like a neat mod. Allows you to hide any quests in the quest journal. Author says it should be compatible with everything, including The Choice Is Yours.

Help with DynDOLOD PLEASE!!!!!
Nebulous112 replied to WhyteOne's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Yep. And sorry, I missed the last part of your earlier reply. You can have both 32-bit and 64-bit Java at the same time. -

Yes, I mean those. Good luck! If you do re-do them, try doing them in the order specified by the guide. It'll just become habit after a while, lol. -
Help with DynDOLOD PLEASE!!!!!
Nebulous112 replied to WhyteOne's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Well, if you added items like armors for CBBE you would have to rerun the Bashed Patch. DynDOLOD should be fine, I think. Personally, when I add a bunch of mods I always rerun all four including DSR (checking to see if there are any new DSR patches I need). Takes less than an hour, and I don't have to worry if anything got screwed up. -
Help with DynDOLOD PLEASE!!!!!
Nebulous112 replied to WhyteOne's question in General Skyrim LE Support
There is no need to get angry, man. Either uninstall STEP, or stick with it. ;-) It may seem like a pain in the ass for nothing, but a lot of these steps are a huge help to stability. You can finish DynDOLOD and do the Bashed Patch after, or you can quit and restart it, it doesn't really matter. -

Nebulous112 replied to WhyteOne's question in General Skyrim LE Support
The bashed patch patches together the leveled lists from various mods. This is one of the steps necessary to resolve conflicts between mods, so that you can have all the mods function correctly together. Every step in STEP is important... If you miss one of the early steps in setting up your system and the game, you are really messed up from the start. Then, many of the mods in the list are required for the STEP patches. All the mods in the Patch section are required. The texture mods are meant to compliment each other. Etc. It is a guide that is meant to function 100% if you follow it from top to bottom. Otherwise, you really have to know what you are doing to get it to work right. Every mod in STEP Core is required. If doing most of STEP Extended anyway, consider this list which gives provides eligibility for the STEP Extended patch. -

Nebulous112 replied to WhyteOne's question in General Skyrim LE Support
DynDOLOD is a fairly important piece of the STEP guide. I'm sure you can do it, though! The instructions can look intimidating, but DynDOLOD really isn't that bad. I would suggest looking at the screenshots provided for each step alongside the instructions. There is also a great video by GamerPoets about DynDOLOD install and generation as well. If there is a particular part of the instructions you are stuck on, let us know, and hopefully we can clarify it. :-) -
Digging into this a bit more, I noticed a note from Gamwich on the Nexus posts page for this mod: The main file is 4k as well, I believe, but there is a 2k resize available. I wonder if we could resize the 4k Gamwich texture as well and send it to Pfuscher. Or is 4k acceptable for this? It seems like everyone wants to replace the STEP version with something from this mod, lol. The new textures do look quite a bit nicer.

Good stuff, thanks guys.

organiser migration, NMM to MO...
Nebulous112 replied to ShinsFortress's question in General Skyrim LE Support
1) Make Skyrim Vanilla Again This will ensure that you don't have anything left over in the Data folder from your NMM install. 2) Download MO, setup per STEP Recommendations 3) Find in your NMM folder where the archives of the mods you downloaded are kept. These archives will be .zip, .7z, etc. Keep that window open. 4) Find the [...]\Mod Organizer\downloads folder. Keep that window open. 5) Copy all mod archives from NMM over to MO downloads folder. Now you have the mods available to install, just as if you had downloaded them through MO. 6) Blast NMM from the face of the earth (and your computer). Smile as you do so. 7) Read the MO Guide so that you understand the program. Yes it is long, but it is definitely worth the read. Suffer through reading it one time and you will save yourself a lot of questions and trouble later on. You will also understand important concepts like left pane (basically installation order), and right pane (load order), etc. 8) Proceed to re-install ENBoost as per the STEP recommendations, or the ENB binary plus your graphical ENB if you use one of those. 9) Set up SKSE in Mod Organizer per STEP recommendations (it is different in MO). Double check the MO folder structure as per the picture! 10) Set up LOOT, xEdit, and any of your other tools similarly. They have to be set up to run through MO. Which you will know if you read the MO Guide. ;-) 11) Re-install your mods. Note left pane priority list and right pane load order. Both do matter! 12) Profit! :-) -
Yeah, I guess I should put up or shut up, eh? ;-) I should learn how to do these comparison screenshots anyway. I think there is a STEP wiki page kicking around somewhere with instructions. I'll have some comparison screenshots up in the next couple days.

Yeah, it makes sense that we would have to move it to the general Mods forum for that. That's probably the correct place for it anyway.

SKYRIMLE Understandable Draugrs (by Pandora)
Nebulous112 replied to dstansberry's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I've been playing with this and I really enjoy it. :-) Nice to read the draugrs cursing me as I cleave their skulls. I would vote to add this to STEP.
