  1. Looks like the link was meant to take you here Skyrim Installation Guide.
  2. The Skyrim Installation Guide takes you through every best practice to have accomplished before beginning the STEP process. The wiki is full of other complimentary guides as well.
  3. We could build a file patcher, but its way out of scope of project at the moment, and no one has close to the time required for something like this.
  4. What exactly is unclear about step 7? either way will work fine
  5. There are no missing steps, perhaps something could be worded more clearly though. Exactly what is the line in question?
  6. The latest version of the bash docs are here.
  7. Another interesting article about human potential and artificial constraints. I love the Kamkwamba story, I read his book and watched his ted speech, just awesome.
  8. Thanks for the devil's advocate position B, gives me a chance to get a few thoughts off my chest. I absolutely agree with you B on the point of the number of people that cannot prosper from our current monolithic system, some people will never get math because they were born to dance. Others will never get Art because they were born to explore the world rather than create one. Our current system is a leftover training apparatus designed to get people ready for life in a factory environment. All the variety of human experience and ability is crammed into a monolithic system, destroying 98% (by current measurements) of any possible value that diversity and individualism might have brought to the table. The current system favors only those who have a proclivity towards reading and to a much lesser degree listening, if you don't have those talents chances are you will fail regardless of the other gifts you may possess. The problem arises from forcing people to learn in ways that they are ill suited for in order to do things that are anathema to them. A free and open system that reverses this paradigm might be a good first step.
  9. I'm fairly certain if every job required 9 years of education and training and experience the amount of people opting for the full nightsoil experience would be fairly small, but I could be wrong. But for those that do I think they'll also appreciate the courses in chemistry (moonshine production), music theory (banjo and fiddle playing), and the training in using equipment to turn your nightsoil into energy and/or fertilizer.
  10. The official announcement of its existence. I'm still reeling from all the technical detail, oh wait its just a graphic... of vaporware
  11. If I was benevolent king of the world I would institute a mandatory 4 year education (no practical stuff just pure art and science), 3 years of journeyman training in your chosen field of expertise, and finally 2 years of civil service to pay for the seven previous years. Then you enter the global market as an independent entrepreneur, with no debt and an abundance of education and experience. Down with the proletariat I say. Up with the middle class entrepeneurs.
  12. I am more interested in constructively sharing knowledge than I am in seeing people get a piece of paper saying they have knowledge. Education is a process, at no point do you become "educated" as a result of it, that is always a false claim imo. Semantically it would be ok to say that I have experienced 7 years of education as that claims no final result of the process, but it still implies that 7 years is better than 1 year which may not be true. I just think a paradigm shift is vastly overdue for education.
  13. Interesting article on free online education
  14. wrye bash is a pain in the ass. I tried once, but I didn't find it very intuitive, and I don't have much time to read tons of guides. just stepped back to NMM You can only ever use one weapon or armor mod, (and same with every other mod type) unless you use bash. You don't need to "learn how to use bash" to make a bashed patch, just right click and select rebuild bashed patch, doing anything else with bash requires a manual for sure, but completely worth it for the time it saves you in the long run.
  15. there's a new enb version 109beta out thats optimized for nvidia cards, might wanna try it out
  16. He can't, he used non open source libraries.
  17. Interesting NPCs It adds a bunch of new characters with full voice dialogue to the game and a couple of quests. I like the look of this one and its getting a lot of compliments on the writing and voice acting. Anyone tried it yet?
  18. The "game definitions" are just updated python scripts and as such more recent versions are included in the SVN, if you overwrite the SVN with them you will experience a world of wonder :P and cry yourself to sleep Remember that the game definitions and SVN are python and are useless if you use the standalone exe, that seems to be little understood. You will also of course have to install python and all the library dependencies. Best way to do that is to reinstall 295.5 from the installer select all options but standalone and let it do that for you.
  19. Wow thats a long compatibility list, looks good especially since we don't need a long term solution as the next version of skyui will include scripting that sorts the favorite menu.
  20. I love this mod aside from a few editing errors on the music, the base music in Skyrim however is just stunning so I'll never use a replacer again. Perhaps a version that added these as additional variety would be nice though. Edit: thanks B that's just what I wanted
  21. On Titanis your right about the size, at some point I expect it to implode, then we'll see if they can reform and refocus. On the upside titanis is quite a decent alternative to STEP for those who don't want to actually do any work or learn anything themselves. Course everyone here knows how much of a better result you get when you get personally involved (as well as the satisfaction of a job well done).
  22. Wars in skyrim is a good case in point with a team of many talented modders and no discipline and most of all very little comprehensible direction and modular design. All lost in the ether now.
  23. A little bit of story can go a long way for a mod like this by making the items seem part of the world and increasing the depth of immersion, without it you actually can lose immersion with a wtf is a full treasure chest doing sitting out here?
  24. Fun read, I have to agree that Adam Smith would be appalled at the state of economic theory today. The only aspect (of modern economics) that I find practically useful is behavioral economics which sometimes actually makes sense.
  25. There is just too much happening in the worldspace, it all gets put in the save. Always save outside the worldspace (indoors) for best results.
