  1. Definitely - the Guide is a good teaching aid. I don't remember where on the internet I read it but the gist of the comment was "If you have to ask about modding, you shouldn't BE modding." and the SR Guide is a great way to learn why something needs to be done as well as how to do it.
  2. Even if a Change Log is not available, we can always use the Wiki History compare tool to work out what changes we need to make between revisions.
  3. Wet and Cold tweaked their script to fire over an interval some time ago. When folks realised that Live Another Life gave a good way to test Wet and Cold's overloading of the scripts (by picking the Dawnstar Miner start), some work was done on it. EDIT : Neo - don't forget that Realistic Water Two has an optional to cater for one aspect of Realistic Needs and Diseases.
  4. Is the test version of NMM 0.50 heading towards profiling though?
  5. The mod is available without the ship animation.
  6. While the Nexus will allow 5Gb mods (for Premium users at least), I am not sure they would be happy with a direct repackage of the Bethesda files. If I were you I would ask them first and also have a trawl through their T&C. An alternative route to distribute this sort of file would be via a torrent but be aware that some countries have applied a broad torrent site ban. I do think that the first section of SR:LE is a great learning experience for any would-be mod user and think that folks should be directed to it at the same time as you point them to the Unofficial Patches. Teach a man to fish... EDIT : I have just thought - the reason that the raw Bethesda files were left in the SR:LE guide was so that you could just tell MO to give you a completely vanilla, unchanged, out-of-the-box experience for testing. It is less about the space efficiency and more about preserving a consistent and vanilla base to work from.
  7. As I posted on the author's Nexus page, the normal is 256x256 and the cube map is 512x512. It appears that the cube map could be compressed better but I am unsure if DXT1 is appropriate for a cube map or not. The biggest win for this mod is the alteration it makes to the meshes to change the behaviour of the gems in the darkness. It almost falls into the bug fix category with this change.
  8. I see you have done a fairly major bit of reworking the Conflicts Resolution section of the Guide today. Is this in preparation for adding more content mods or do you feel you have taken the Guide as far as you intend and are just keeping it up to date for maintenance now? I am asking because I am considering creating my own mod list for a pending play-through and wondered how close to completion you consider the Guide.
  9. It should appear fine - the only two tags it has are "For Male Characters" and "For Female Characters"
  10. You may want to look at the AMD R9 290 family of cards next time though. There is some interesting stuff gong on with that card. Once you get through the heat problems (via a third-party air cooler or a water block) the card seems to work very well and has a huge OC headroom when cooled. We will have to look at how that card family handles Crossfire because as of now the little connector cable is gone and it all goes through the PCI-e bus.
  11. Is it the Page Source? One of the View options that has a shortcut, probably.
  12. They are simply complying with a UK court order. No other UK ISPs should link to those torrent sites now either.
  13. I am glad I got these when I did because my ISP is now blocking both the SR:LE linked torrent server and the kickass.to too.
  14. Neo - I have had to revert Book Covers Skyrim to version 2.2.2 - apologies for the short life of v 2.3.1 but I hit a constraint in the Inventory Notes mesh that has revenged me from using double-sided notes. I pulled 2.3.1 and went back to the previous version. The mod version number in your Guide will need to be updated. Sadly the problem has also completely killed the Treasure Maps of Skyrim mod for those folks who didn't use Book Covers Skyrim or had it with the No Notes option. Two weeks of art down the crapper.
  15. Thanks for the confirmation. A bit of a shame but I understand why now.
  16. From what I have read on the RWT instructions, it appears that you need a "real" ENB to take advantage of the parallax. The ENBoost tool does not have the required enbseries.ini. Is this correct?
  17. If the content added by the mod is useful, we could always approach the author with a list of cleaning required for the next release. Make the tidy-up conditional on any inclusion in STEP, perhaps?
  18. Nope - the mesh is referenced fine. If I have the Note that uses my new mesh in my inventory and read it there it works. If I then drop the same Note and try to read it on the ground it CTDs. I am suspecting the Behaviour script that is attached to the Notes mesh so have contacted Hanaisse on TES Alliance for advice. I have created a thread in the Mod Author sub-forum so that I can throw ideas at this and see what sticks.
  19. It was the mesh - I have withdrawn the version with that mesh as well as the new Treasure Maps of Skyrim mod and the Better Notes Mesh resource. Any Note using my new mesh, when dropped, would CTD when read off the floor but worked when read from inventory.
  20. Fair enough, but WHY are they treated differently?
  21. I have had to withdraw version 2_3_1 of the Book Covers mod from the Nexus due to an unusual bug that has been reported to me. The mod files have now been reverted back to 2_2_2. A reproducible CTD occurs with version 2_3_1 if the player attempts to read a Note that is fixed onto an object despite the textures and meshes being correctly referenced. For example, the "Notice of Cost Increase" in the Bee and Barb is a Note that is stuck to the table. Its only option is Read. The World mesh is displaying properly but the instant you click Read, the view switches to the Inventory mesh, the correct texture is applied, the text appears inside the Note and its skeleton begins to open it. Before the Note is fully open, it causes a CTD. The Note does display perfectly if it is opened from the Inventory though which is why I am confused. I tested the Notes in qasmoke and checked that every one opened and displayed its contents properly. I just do not understand why this one Note is treated differently because it can't be picked up.
  22. If you are too impatient to wait or too unsure to forge ahead on your own, you could use the Wiki History and go back to the August 28/29 version which is the last updated Skyrim Revisited before the LE version took over the wiki.
  23. Despite their initial heat issues, water-cooling can push the 290 by around 20% so that it will out-perform a 290X... but I guess if you can afford to water-cool a 290 (or two), you can afford to do the same to a 290X.
  24. Remember too that with the new AMD R9 cards you don't need the Crossfire cable any more as the cards finally talk across the PCI-e slot.
  25. If you are compressing the BSA be aware that it may mess up the STRINGS files. McGuffin (author of TESVTranslator) informed me that a compressed BSA can contain data that resembles the STRINGS values and then you get Reference Not Found errors in the books. With the textures, the textures are already DXT1 and the normals are DXT5 which is what I would expect them to be. I am open to suggestions of how to improve them but i can't use DXT3 for the normals since I need the soft gradients that DXT5 allows. I did tick the Meshes checkbox in BSAopt when I created it so I would be interested in knowing if there is a way to compress it further without using the Compress option which will screw up the STRINGS.
