ACCEPTED Book Covers Skyrim (by DanielCoffey and doccdr)
DanielCoffey replied to dstansberry's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Version 2_3 is now up. It adds new textures for all twelve of vanilla Skyrim's Treasure Maps as well as multiple Note styles for some of the major factions. So far the Imperials, Stormcloaks and Thalmor have their own new Notes as do Maven Black-Briar and her minions. For those of you who use the Book Covers mod without the Notes, I will shortly be releasing a new mod called "Treasure Maps of Skyrim" which will sit alongside the Book Covers Skyrim - No Notes ESP to bring just the new Maps to you. If you already use Book Covers with the Notes then you automatically have the new Treasure Maps from this release. -

It appears that as long as you are running a reasonably new ENB DLL and have "Fix Parallax Bugs = true" then you should be good to go. I'll try it and see if the basic ENBoost will support those features. -
Question about mods no longer on the Nexus
DanielCoffey replied to Bundy714's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
In my mind there is a distinction between mods that are "withdrawn" consciously by the author (the HD Shrines one for example) and on the other hand mods that are just inaccessible due to banning. -
General Support Thread
DanielCoffey replied to Solist's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
I see that some of the texture mods in SR:LE are now ENB-required so that raised a few questions about how to get the minimum support required from the ENB itself to still see these effects. When I apply the ENB with everything on, I get unacceptable heat and therefore case fan noise from my single 7950. If I turn off all the individual flags in the EFFECT block the ENB still provides the main colour changes but is still causing enough extra work to run the fans. I would assume that disabling the individual EFFECT settings would still be enough to see the ENB-specific parallax effects in the texture mods? I was then thinking about what happens with the GLOBAL UseEffect set to false. I know this disables all the ENB post-processing but I don't know if it still keeps the colour changes and whether it would still allow the parallax effect in the texture mods. Could one of you basically answer "How low can I go?" in the ENBseries.ini before those parallax effects are disabled and whether having UseEffect set to false means the ENB is doing anything at all apart from the memory management in the current dlls. -
Does Skyrim support SLI well?
DanielCoffey replied to whateveryouwant's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Were the main issues with combining 2xGPU and an ENB? Past comments implied that 2xGPU worked fine with no ENB but that there were some issues when an ENB is added. -
I grew up with Revs and Elite on the BBC B... graduated to an Amiga and lost months to Moria and the Little Lavender Leprechauns! I fondly remember Bane of the Cosmic Forge when I had a PC. Master of Magic consumed far too much of my time. Then I landed on Everquest. My first online game experience was Ultima Online and being griefed so I was rather tentative about starting Everquest. This was in the days of paid dial-up remember. Fortunately I got in a good Guild and started story-writing as well as playing. It all seemed so... real! Crappy graphics but real! I have to confess that City Builder games occupied a large part of my time too - Caesar III, Pharaoh and of course Emperor RotMK. I did play Daggerfall and Morrowind briefly but didn't really appreciate how deep they were. I have never played Oblivion beyond the intro yet but I do own the Steam GOTY edition and it is now firmly in my queue when I have got time.

Loose textures usually win over BSA files, yes.

ACCEPTED Book Covers Skyrim (by DanielCoffey and doccdr)
DanielCoffey replied to dstansberry's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I have released a 2_2_2 Cumulative Hotfix for the Book Covers mod. A small naming mistake was spotted on "Kyr's Log" from Frostmere Crypt. It is needed for all users of 2_2 and 2_2_1. -
SKYRIMLE Solitude Tower Flags by iLita
DanielCoffey replied to DoYouEvenModBro's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
*dons hint-proof tinfoil hat* While I wold love to help, I am swamped I am afraid. I have plenty to keep me going every day for the next month... redoing the treasure maps is actually pretty draining work. EDIT : iLita has made the Designs of the Nords PSD resources available but I don't know what the terms of use are. -

I also found the banners to be far too bright, clean and saturated. I would prefer something a little more worn and faded. -
I would be very interested indeed in an Oblivion Guide that focussed on stability by resolving conflicts and optimising. I have the GOTY from Steam but have never played Oblivion beyond the first few levels. I got it when it was on a deep sale at Steam just as Skyrim came out. I tried Culveyhouse's Extreme Graphics makeover videos but didn't know much about modding and made quite a mess of it. At the time I had a 5870 1Gb and since my monitor's native resolution is 1440p it struggled quite a lot. Now I have a 7950 3Gb and am considering a new play through. If you are looking for Guide reviewers and "question askers", please count me in. I would also be keen to see whether we can transition to MO for the mods or whether Wrye Bash will still be the primary organiser.

[Role Playing] Your Skyrim characters
DanielCoffey replied to rootsrat's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
What we need is a script that checks the calendar once a game month and updates the meshes and textures used on a Hold by Hold basis... seeing trees change colour, stepping outside of a home one day and seeing the first snow blanketing the ground.... getting caught in a blizzard as the ice makes your bones creak... to find thaws and the first green shoots of spring? -
The 740M should be acceptably good at the native resolution. It isn't mentioned in the UESP Skyrim hardware Requirements but similar cards such as the 650M are.

ACCEPTED Book Covers Skyrim (by DanielCoffey and doccdr)
DanielCoffey replied to dstansberry's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I can't use it on play-throughs because of the heat and noise of the fans but it makes a great tool for screenshots. I always feel it is fair to players to say which ENB was used on a screenshot since they will just ask otherwise. I am keenly awaiting the next batch of mods to make it into SR:LE but am occupying myself with the Notes textures in the mean time. -
ACCEPTED Book Covers Skyrim (by DanielCoffey and doccdr)
DanielCoffey replied to dstansberry's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I have recently uploaded version 2.2 of Book Covers Skyrim which fully localises the mod into all languages except Japanese and brings the Better Journal Mesh optimisations and brand new covers to every Journal in vanilla Skyrim and every DLC. An example of the new Journal covers is this... In addition I have now completed the Better Notes Mesh resource and will be using it on all the game's Notes and letters. It completely overhauls the UV mapping on the Notes and brings double-sided Notes to Skyrim for the first time. While I am just at the prototype stage with the Notes textures at the moment, they should be very exciting and possibly even collectible from now on. The Bookshelves Script SKSE mod will be most useful for Note hoarders... I will keep updating the mod's page with progress on the Notes as I hit milestones. -
MO 1.0.7 downloading mods twice from Nexus
DanielCoffey replied to DanielCoffey's question in Mod Organizer Support
I think it is likely that it started when IE 11 was dropped on us (which was about the time that MO 1.0.7 arrived too). I will investigate the settings in IE 11 to see if anything jumps out at me. -
MO 1.0.7 downloading mods twice from Nexus
DanielCoffey replied to DanielCoffey's question in Mod Organizer Support
Before I do that, I'll do a clean install after backing up my existing mods and profiles. If it is still present, then I'll file a report. Out of interest and as an aside, do you know why the Nexus exclude the Mod Organizer mod from their Search results? Entering "Mod Organizer" does not find the mod itself (you just see the Beginners Guide) but it is present on the Nexus if you use Google to locate it. EDIT : It was content filtering... oops. -

MO 1.0.7 downloading mods twice from Nexus
DanielCoffey replied to DanielCoffey's question in Mod Organizer Support
The globe button was still greyed out after I moved the nxmhandlers.ini to the desktop. A new one was created and the contents shortened to... [handlers] size=1 1\games=skyrim 1\executable=C:\\Games\\ModOrganizer\\ModOrganizer.exe MO still attempted to download a test file from the Nexus twice. -
MO 1.0.7 downloading mods twice from Nexus
DanielCoffey replied to DanielCoffey's question in Mod Organizer Support
This is the contents of that .ini... -
Since updating to the latest 1.0.7 RC8 I have noticed that clicking Download with Manager on the Nexus is causing MO to attempt to download every file twice. This, of course, gives errors when the duplicate download has finished and attempts to tidy up but finds the first download task has already done this Is there anything I should do to preserve my load order but reset MO so that it just attempts to get files once? Was there ever an Oblivion Revisited?
DanielCoffey replied to DanielCoffey's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
That's great, thanks. I will have a ton of questions, most likely, but will see how far I can get on my own since it is a good learning experience. -
Neo - did you ever create an Oblivion Revisited guide or was SR your first record of this approach? I may be starting an Oblivion game soon and had been looking at Culveyhouse's Oblivion Extreme Graphics Overhaul video series but as far as I am aware he didn't consider conflicts and stability in its design and he stopped once the majority of the visuals mods were in and didn't touch gameplay extensions.

This is why we need to know *how* it works. A little bit of transparency and peer-review of the code now and this mod will gain the confidence it deserves.
