Two Part Question concerncing ADAM and ENB
Audley replied to duncandun's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
If you are running MO 1.3.x then for whatever reason, the ADAM installer will only work properly about a third of the time. If you run the installer for ADAM and the options are already filled in, then exit the installer and run it again. Keep doing this until it lets you select the options you want. This could take several times. I have no idea why this happens or how to fix it internally. And about ENB: if you downloaded the files from ENBdev.com in the last couple of days I would re-download the files. There was a bug in a recent update that is now fixed that was causing the ENB to not load properly. -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
Audley replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
Was wondering if someone could answer a quick question for me about the guide: for ILO why isn't the .esp that comes with the Ultimate ESM Edition not needed? I looked on the page but I couldn't find anywhere that said that it was not needed. -
hey Adonis! Thanks for the reply. Sorry I couldn't get back to you earlier; had a busy day. Anyways, I noticed that I did indeed have Geforce Experience still installed from when I was using it to do some recording. However, since I did not use it anymore I went ahead and uninstalled it. And you were definitely right on that one. I was startled at just how much of a performance boost I got from uninstalling it! A significant amount of hitching went away. While it is still not perfect, the game went from being barely playable to being a lot more comfortable. I suppose it did make a substantial difference as I was able to play for about an hour. While the frame drops can be annoying at times, the game is a lot more playable for certain. I think that the Geforce Experience was causing me most of my issues. Then, while I was skulking around on some forums wondering if I could perhaps boost my performance anymore, I saw that one guy was having problems with the Full Scene Reflections option turned on. Even near areas without water. So me not wanting to rule anything out, I turned it off. And to my amazement about 90% of the fps problems went away. I never thought to check this option since I didn't think it would affect areas without water. My game is running at a smooth 50-60 fps with Adaptive V-sync turned on and I only get frame drops in a few areas of the game like the strip. I even managed to get Enhanced Shaders up and running. Overall I am pretty happy with the performance. Thanks a lot for the help Adonis. Hopefully someone can find this thread in the future and perhaps see that Geforce Experience was causing their game issues. I did try your suggestions and none of them made a real difference except the first one; which I now run with. Cheers, Audley

Hey Guys, Audley here! This is going to be a bit of a long post due to me having to explain what I have worked through. So please bear with me. And I would like to thank you in advance for any help in this matter. First off, let me get my specs out of the way: i5 4670 @ 3.4 (Stock; no OC) GTX 760 SC (No further OC) 8 GB of GDDR3 RAM 60hz 1920x1080 Monitor Windows 8.1 64 bit So in a nutshell: I get frame drops nearly constantly throughout the game. This makes the game very uncomfortable to play. I have spent a lot of time trying to play the game and trying to mod it but I have never actually played the game all the way through. I follow F&L pretty much down to the letter. With a few exceptions for personal taste. However, I have tried to play the game completely vanilla and I keep having the same bad performance. I have spent about 50 hours trying to play in short bursts but I always end up getting frustrated over the performance issues. So right now I am stuck after you leave Goodsprings because I am about ready to give up on trying. I have spent a lot of time testing some mods and stuff but sitting down to enjoy the game for an hour or more at a time is a nightmare. I used to own the game on my Xbox and even at 30 fps it was much more fun to play than on my computer. I would probably just play it on there if I hadn't have sold it. So let me go into a bit more detail. In several locations in the game my FPS goes from a solid and smooth 60 FPS to around 40. Sometimes even dipping to around 30. But only for about five seconds or so. Then the game goes back up to 60 again. This would probably be more accurately described as "hitching" or "jerking" or maybe even "macro-stuttering" but not micro-stuttering. When the game does decide to be smooth, it is fine. But when I walk around and the game is loading into another cell, or when I am around NPC's, my fps goes all wack. It's almost as though my rig isn't quite powerful enough to run the game. But in theory I should be fine. Now, the obvious solution would be to turn down my settings or cap my frame rate. However, regardless of visual detail this happens. Even on the lowest settings, with all the sliders set to the lowest they will go, I still have slowdowns. With AA off, with AF off, with or without HDR, even with V-Sync off this still occurs. Even capping my frame rate to 30 this still happens. Regardless of settings, this hitching issue still occurs. I was beginning to think it was my hardware. But I have been able to run several games at 1080p 60 fps with zero issues. The only known solution I have to somewhat solving this problem is to set my resolution to 720p. But it doesn't get rid of it completely. It only lessens the drop. But the jerkiness is still there; when your game goes suddenly from 60 to 40 and back again all in about 5 seconds. I got to tell you it is a real bummer. So let us recap: Vanilla game, default .ini files, default settings, I get FPS drops all around. Fully modded game following F&L I get fps drops. This makes me think I have some sort of bottleneck going on with the game but I have no idea what it could be. I have scoured forums like a maniac trying to find a solution. I have posted similar posts on the bethsoft and Nexus forums but with little success. If I cannot find a solution for this then I may give up on modding and just save up to buy another Xbox. If anyone has any ideas about what might be causing my performance issues then I am all ears. Cheers, audley

I'm not sure if you were talking to just Jax or if anyone had any suggestions. I personally cannot play without these two replacers in combination: Smaller Holotapes Holodisk Retexture It always bothered me that the holotapes in the game were not only ugly, but they were huge. These two tiny mods fixes these issues. Now holotapes finally will fit in your Pip-Boy! -

@Jax765 Where do you place the FOOK Optional File in your Left Pane? I thought about using it but wasn't sure because I thought it would conflict with the Weapon Retexture Project; therefore conflicting with Weapon Mods Expanded. -

I've been using MG's Neat Clutter Retextures since the day I started following Fear and Loathing and I have never run into a problem with it. Most of the textures are decent with quite a few being very well done. I really like the medical equipment retextures it includes. -
F&L word for word... CTD's everywhere?!
Audley replied to iShoZza's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
If things are see through and floating and glitching out with an ENB, almost (but not always) 99% of the time that means you have some form of hardware AA on. -
F&L word for word... CTD's everywhere?!
Audley replied to iShoZza's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
Do you get any specific error messages like "Out of memory..." when the game crashes or it just a straight black screen to desktop? One last thing you could post would be your enblocal.ini. I see that you set it to your system specs but I would still like to see it; just to rule out any possible causes. And AyleidRuin is right. The majority of the "Multi-Core" tweaks don't do anything. I see you have your uInteriorCellBuffer uExteriorCellBuffer set extremely high. From what I have gathered from people who are much better than me when it comes to understanding game engines, those have to do with uGridsToLoad and generally should not be touched. Especially if you have your uGridsToLoad still at 5. I agree with what was said above that you should revert your .ini files back to the original ones that come with the game. Once you do that, test again and if you still get crashes constantly then we can rule that out. Don't worry iShoZza, we will get this sorted out. :) -
Are you using an ENB? Sounds you have Dynamic Shadows turned on. Dynamic Shadows for Fallout causes weird artifacting. Nevada Skies nor ILO should cause this kind of issue.

PN Extra Options don't appear in MCM
Audley replied to GeneralHavoc's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
Hey General Havoc! Sorry you are having trouble. I saw your post and I installed PN by itself to take some pictures. I think you are looking in the wrong spot: The bullet time enhancements should be located under PN Extra Options>Core in your MCM menu. Should look like this: Link. And the carry weight modifier should be under PN Rebalance>Character in your MCM Menu. Link. Check those two spots and see if they are there. If not, then can you take a picture of your MCM menu in those two locations so we can see what the menu looks like. Cheers, Audley- 5 replies

What bothers me is the amount of money going to the mod authors vs. the amount going to Bethesda. Gopher said only 25% will be going to the mod authors. Only 25%? I have heard the term "user made DLC" being tossed around. While I don't 100% agree with that, I also don't think they are entirely wrong. I understand that Bethesda made Skyrim, but if I made large Skyrim mods I wouldn't put them behind a paywall simply because I don't think Bethesda/Steam deserves that 75% profit cut out of my work. And as Octopuss said: "...out of general principle..." Edit: If I were buying a mod that I really thought deserved the money, then I would actually feel better if I was paying more money to the mod author rather than the developer or Steam.

Why so much MO hate? (semi-rant)
Audley replied to Octopuss's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
There is a big difference between a troll post and a rant post. Octopuss states in the title: "(semi-rant)". Because you feel strongly one way or the other about something does not mean this post should be "deleted asap." I have had my problems with MO lately; I had to switch back to 1.2.18 due to the amount of issues I was encountering in 1.3.x. I understand Octopuss' frustration with the situation, however. My question to you is why do you want this thread closed ASAP? When you say things like that you only come across as aggressive and it causes people to want to be defensive. -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
Audley replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
The double-iris is caused by FCO clashing with NVR3. With NVR3 overriding some but not all of FCO's eyes. The way to fix this is to open up NVR3 in MO and go to the conflicts tab. In the top panel, right-click and hide every file that overrides FCO. This will make sure that FCO is the only one changing the eyes. This is what I did and it worked fine for me... though I don't use NVR3 anymore. The amount of issues it causes with other mods is too much. -

I really think the newer Dynamic Camera mod should replace the current camera mod in the guide. It can do the exact same thing and so much more. -

Doc Mitchell uses an outfit not retextured by the Wasteland Clothing Retextured mod. As a matter of fact, everyone in Goodsprings uses an outfit not covered by that mod. It is on my list of things to do. Basically what he did. He doubled the size, added some noise, then blurred then sharpened the textures. Not really a retexture. -
Strange. Try Re-Building your bashed patch.

Hmm that is weird. Are you 100% positive it is the Nuka-Cola machine replacer? Did you by off chance install the Crossbow mods in the Misc Weapons section? If you can run the game at a solid 60 fps then I wouldn't think that the Nuka-Cola machine replacer (2k lite version) would bring you down nearly 20 fps. Though this game has some weird issues... -
Collection of graphical bugs, including double-iris and purple bodies
Audley replied to Thiero's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
The fuzzyness is just due to a lack of AA. Which is because you are using ENBoost and ENBoost is not compatible with hardware AA. Don't worry about it as it happens to everyone using ENBoost or ENB. Now, the purple bodies on the other hand are seriously annoying. I know because I just had them pop up in my game. It is definitely an issue with NVR3. The only solution I have is to not install NVR3 :\. I will keep looking into it though. -

Yea I never actually used it since I knew EVE did something similar so I wasn't sure. Personally I don't really like the blood spurts either. Though it doesn't bother me too much as I find the ragdoll effects to be more comical than the blood effects. :P -

Audley replied to Thiero's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
That is really strange as I have not encountered this issue before. :\ It should be fairly simple to revert back to the way it was before though. I guess the only way to solve this would be to disable NVR3 completely. But I guess that is a personal preference. I am sorry that my advice only made things worse. :$ -
Collection of graphical bugs, including double-iris and purple bodies
Audley replied to Thiero's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
I assume this is an issue with NVR3 + FCO + Roberts. I install these in such a way (off the guide) that I manage to prevent this issue. Firstly, any double iris problems are caused by NVR3 overwriting important files in FCO. The first thing I do Is install NVR3 according to the directions. Then I install FCO and load it after NVR3. However, I don't use the regular .esm for FCO as it causes too many issues. I use NVR3 for editing the NPC's and use FCO for the player character. I use the "FCO - No NPC Edits" optional file instead of the FCO.esm. Or rather editing the .esm to remove the NPC edits. I found that this is the best way to install both of these mods to get them to work right. Here is an example of what I do: Link. The obvious downside to this is that you don't get the FCO NPC Edits for quest mods like Beyond Boulder Dome. However, I find that I would rather have regular head meshes than mismatched bodies. -

It will actually move ALL assets for you. So you could potentially merge (which I have) 40 small mods together and the plugin will take meshes, sounds, textures, etc. and merge them all into one convenient package. The one thing you need to remember though is that it will not move .esm's over. You will need to do that manually. -

By ticking "copy general assets" it will automatically copy all the assets and change names for sound folders automatically and place it into one neat pile for you (overwrite folder). I recommend ticking for *most* merges as it will only make things easier.
