  1. Hey STEP! Audley here with yet another strange performance issue that no one else seems to have. I finally decided I wanted to use an ENB with New Vegas but one of the best features of ENBoost causes me performance issues. Let me clarify. Whenever I have ReduceSystemMemoryUsage set to True, it causes me massive (and I do mean massive) jerking, stuttering, hitching, and lag throughout the game. Rendering the game unplayable. However, when setting this back to false, all performance issues go away. I have tried every combination of settings in my ENBlocal.ini but only disabling the setting completely gives me my performance back (or doing what I said below). However, I did find out that if I set EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks to True, paired alongside ReduceSystemMemoryUsage, it will fix the issue. Though because I do not really know what EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks does, I was not sure if it was a good idea to keep it enabled. I would like to use an ENB but if I cannot use ReduceSystemMemory then it is not worth it to me as this is the biggest reason I would like to use an ENB. If anyone has any ideas why this is happening I am all ears. Thank you in advance. Cheers, Audley System Specs: i5 4670 (No OC) @3.4 2GB GTX 760 SC (No further OC) 8 GB of DDR3 Windows 8.1 64x (Completely updated) 1920x1080 60hz Monitor GeForce Experience = Not Installed Edit: I tried turning EnableCompression off, does not help. I have tried other ENB's and saves - no success.
  2. Are you using ENBoost or an ENB? If so, remove the d3d9.dll and see if the issue persists. I don't think this has anything to do with the BSAs. I would also launch FNVEdit and run it once (making sure all of your .esp's are ticked) and let it go through your load order. If it gives you an error then you have some sort of missing master; though I did not see any in your load order.
  3. I have been watching this thread over the past couple of days and have seen a lot of you having a lot of issues. However, I have not had the time to post anything. I would like to help but this has turned into a bit of a mess. I hate to be "that guy," but could everyone having issues please make their own topic in the "F&LNV - Support" area combining all of their current issues into one post? I have lost track of who is having what issues - but I would like to do what I can to help. Thanks.
  4. What could possibly go wrong?
  5. Hmmm. If 1.2.18 is working fine for you now I am not sure if upgrading is worth it at this point. I am using 1.3.7 right now and for whatever reason AI didn't impliment correctly by itself and I had to do something to get it working properly. I think you will be fine using 1.2.18 yet for a while.
  6. I really would have liked to try Overgrowth ENB with F&L but I saw no mention of it having nightvision support so I never tested it out. Do you know if it has nightvision support? Or have you not gotten that far yet?
  7. I would let the game hand AA and AF. Triple Buffering I think is more of a preference than anything else. I use it personally because it removes some of the input lag caused by V-Sync. I suggest you turn it on and play without for a while, and then turn it off if you notice any issues.
  8. Hello everyone! Audley here. I wasn't sure where exactly to post this but I decided that the "Banter Inn" was probably a good place as any. :) This is me wanting to write a quick(ish) thank you to the entire STEP community for being helpful, kind, supportive, and awesome. I discovered the STEP community last August and it has been an incredible discovery I must say. Without my going into too much detail of my personal life: I have a lot of health issues. And I don't have very many friends in my area. However, thanks to STEP, I have gained a lot of friends and support over the past six months or so and it has really meant a lot to me. I don't really know who started the STEP community, or who pays to keep the site/forums up and running. But what I do know is that this is the BEST community I have ever had the pleasure of being apart of. I don't really... (trying to find the right words here) get along very well with the Nexus community. I don't think there is anything wrong with the Nexus community, I just never really fit in there. However, here on the STEP forums I feel very accepted and welcome. I feel as though the STEP community accepts everyone and is very open to different opinions. I have never once been called any kind of name or had a rude comment directed at me while being here. And I think the openness of all the members on here (willing to start a debate or civil discussion rather than an argument) is one of the biggest reasons that makes this community great. I know it's not necessarily perfect, and the community does have some problems that crop up from time to time, but to me I think it is the best community I have ever been apart of. I wish I could do more to support the community, and I wish that I had money to donate. Though I definitely will try to be more active on commenting. So in short: thank you to EVERYONE here at the STEP forums for making such an awesome community. :) Cheers, Audley
  9. Ah. I didn't realize that AMD did not have an Adaptive V-Sync equivalent. Which is a shame because I use it ALL the time. Still, I would force your card to enable standard V-Sync over the games version of V-Sync. Or maybe it is fine for you, but for me it is extremely choppy and causes me stutters. But if it is fine for you I suppose then don't worry about it. :)
  10. Don't worry about asking too many questions here on the forums - that is what they are for. A lot of us are here and happy to help. :) I remember when I first joined the STEP forums and started following Fear and Loathing. I think I drove EssArrBee bananas with all my questions. :P
  11. If you have the crossbow mod installed in any way shape or form, it will most likely dip your FPS by around 20 or so and cause massive stuttering; regardless of whether it's in your inventory or not. Though strangely enough, this doesn't happen to everyone. However, it is probably your number one issue at the moment. A few other tips/tricks for performance: Be careful about using Dynavision's dynamic depth of field. I don't know about others, but for me it destroys performance. Try turning full scene water reflections off. That has caused me performance issues even in areas without water. Remove the grass and lighting tweaks that EssArrBee recommends in his guide. He says they don't impact performance much if at all, but I swear they cause my game to stutter even more than usual. Turn off the games V-Sync and turn off the Stutter Remover's FPS management function. Then, go into your graphics cards control panel and force Adaptive V-sync for New Vegas and the 4GB launcher (this one is huge for me).I hope these help you some.
  12. UPDATE: I am not sure what they did during the maintenance downtime over the weekend, but it has worked wonders for the most part. The other two premium servers are back for me and the site has sped up significantly; including downloads. Occasionally my downloads will hang in the beginning but it usually fixes itself within an hour or so. So for the most part everything seems back to normal. :)
  13. In the interest of keeping my load order as conflict free as possible, I have decided to use neither FCO or NVR3. Nor any other mass beautification mod. I think this is the right move for now. At least until someone can figure out how to make everything work together nicely.
  14. Yea I have that checked. In fact, I have it set to 1 in BOTH .ini files to make sure that it works properly. I am not having the mismatched head/body issues thankfully. Aside from when the bodies turn purple. It's a shame because I think the mod is really great and I think a lot of effort was put into it. Though I am not sure if at this point the author has discontinued work on the mod since people in the comments are saying that the author's website for instructions has been down for some time.
  15. Hey thanks for the reply. I figured something like that would have to be done. I was surprised that a patch for YUP and FCO was not already made. :/ Unfortunately though, I am not knowledgeable enough with FNVEdit to know how to make a custom patch.
  16. Hey guys! :D After taking a long break from New Vegas after my performance issues, I am really getting back into it and I wanted to do a full F&L playthrough. However, there is one section in the guide that I just don't really like. Installing NVR3 on top of FCO and using them both has caused me a TON of issues including but not limited to: Nearly every African American NPC having purple bodiesNPC's Spawning out of nowhere (like Powdergangers in Goodsprings)Said spawning NPC's turning invisibleNPC's spawning and then teleporting out of existenceMismatches textures with body replacersI have encountered all of the issues mentioned above and they are extremely game breaking. So, because I really like FCO and because it is 100% compatible with body replacers, I was wondering how I would go about implementing FCO into the guide properly without NVR3. Because there is one issue that I can't solve: YUP overwrites several NPC faces from FCO and no matter what I cannot get my bashed patch to fix these issues. Any ideas on how I could go about implementing FCO properly into the guide with as few issues as possible would be greatly appreciated. :) Thanks in advance! Cheers, Audley
  17. I suppose it would depend on which cleaner you are using. If you are using something like CCleaner then it wouldn't hurt anything. At best you would get a slight boost in Windows performance. Unless of course you have not cleaned the registry in a long time. In that case I would recommend doing it anyway.
  18. I just saw someone post about the voiced protagonist as though it was confirmed. Was this confirmed, denied, or neither?
  19. Thanks for all the replies guys. I am glad that it was not just happening to me. Dark0ne made a post recently about how the Nexus has about 20% more people using it than normal. So you may wish to check that out for more information. After the Steam sale on the Fallout games it will hopefully speed up back to normal. And for whatever reason only the "Kent - Premium" server is working for me at the moment. Even though I am in the US the other two premium servers don't show up in MO for whatever reason. O.o
  20. "Too Wordy" ? I am not sure what they are expecting. A guide to mod an entire game to the plugin limit is bound to be a bit "wordy." lol :\
  21. Update: The regular free servers are definitely overloaded. I got tired of waiting and purchased another month of premium. On the premium servers everything is lightning fast. Edit: Spoke too soon. Even on the premium servers I am now getting the same problem. :\ Guess I'll just have to wait it out.
  22. Someone on the Nexus told me that along with the announcement of Fallout 4 + the sale on the Fallout games has increased the amount of people using the Nexus tremendously. While that does make sense, I still have not seen the Nexus this slow in a really long time. :\
  23. These past few days the Nexus has been HORRIBLY slow for me. Taking upwards of a minute for a download to start if I do it by "Download With Manager." And the site itself sometimes taking 30 seconds to fully load. And my downloads are frequently not completing. Was wondering if this is happening for anyone else or if it is just me? I did a SpeedTest and my speeds are normal. No other site is doing this so I only can assume it is on their end.
  24. Make sure the Steam Overlay is turned off and double check that AA is not on. The Steam Overlay causes huge issues with ENB's like the ones you are describing.
  25. It appears that only the "Project Nevada - All DLC.esp" has a dirty edit. According to FNVEdit it has 1 ITM.
