  1. I have no idea why they decided to do that, it doesn't seem to have helped anything, just rushing our minor upgrades and some background features as entire new versions. It also doesn't help their business users since they're usually a lot slower to upgrade anyways. I like the rapid release cycle as it delivers features faster (and more importantly security and bug fixes). I do agree though that the addon system suffers and is a downside. Ultimo 8 is working for me, but only because I haven't upgraded yet. I usually wait a week or two to give Kaspersky time to update their addons. As for businesses, they also have a separate ESR cycle version, so they have more time to test newer versions and an extended support cycle. They should be using that version to alleviate the headache.
  2. I"m using 8 Ultimo (same guy that makes FT DeepDark). It's really good if you like a dark theme and the scrollbar is easy to spot (too many dark themes make the scrollbar almost impossible to see).
  3. Add them all to the Wiki. There is no need to have differing download locations.
  4. You can upload files to the wiki, though there may be dom extra configuration we need to do.
  5. I will clarify the DDSopt guide if you would please go into that guide and add some notes indicating anything that is unclear. To be honest, you are the only person that has indicated that it is difficult to follow ... some of the specifics no longer apply, and that has been stated. Even better, use the Talk page to provide specifics. I am quite certain that it does not need a completer rewrite, as most of the info there still applies. techangel is not the only one to indicate that the guide is difficult to follow. To be honest, even I have found it difficult to read, and there are a number of users based on their questions and ultimate user error that indicate such as well. Aside from some content that may no longer apply, I certainly believe that the presentation needs an overhaul. You both need to be specific or cease and desist.... Neither of you are offering any constructive criticism at this point I am working on it now as best I can (no thanks to anyone but Farlo!) I had voiced a lot of my confusion many moons ago and an update of the guide was also put on the back burner. Unfortunately, I also don't have the time to go through guides currently. My main point of replying was to point out that tech is not the only that has had trouble with the guide as many users have had issues. So, take it or leave it.
  6. Too... much... caffeine... Might... not... wake... up... again... Gimme!!!! I'm out of coffee. :(

  8. Again based on screenshots, that looks promising. I like the detailed version. I don't have much time to check these out in game, but both mods are worth checking out. Anyone up for doing some analysis?. I'm not worried about no more updates in the case of Nuska's mod as we are still using some mods that over 6 months old (and older). As long as they look good and fit STEP, it should be a no brainer. Agree as long as the same changes apply to all genders in game. Otherwise, this is imbalanced and I would vote to wait for a mod that addresses everything. Updates to texture mods are not important; however, it is important that a texture mod addresses everything that applies in a consistent fashion IMO. I agree to a certain extent. But when history reveals that a single mod doesn't cover everything I believe that exceptions can be justified, otherwise you can end up waiting forever and never benefit.

  10. my bad, thanks for the correction.
  11. This was updated on 12/22, so not sure how it's dead in the water. It would be nice to have similar for male characters, but I really like what he's done for the females.
  12. We had a white christmas! It's been too long. Currently 11F.
  13. You need to give them an extension of ".ini".Will SkyUI still recognize them as INIs? Forget what I mentioned. I was thinking of something else.
  14. You need to give them an extension of ".ini".
  15. They aren't loading for me at all. Failed connections to dropbox.
  16. LOL! Now that is funny. Happy Holidays!
  17. Go torminator! Â Shouldn't this be in the Guides section of the forum anyways, what's it doing in Support? The guide was a result of this dicussion. There certainly should be a thread setup to match with the guide on the Wiki, but for the most part, I think this thread still deserves it's current place as a means of continued discussions of potential fixes. And not entirely sure how it would affect search engine results if it were moved.
  18. Part 1 of that series he did was thanks to torminater reaching out to Gopher.
  19. You must not have watched the video that Gopher made. [video=youtube] He ended up settling on a value of 18.
  20. This was discussed in this thread early on, and a video that Gopher did a while back also brought this up and he played around with this setting (though I can't remember what value he settled on). The settings that torminater came up with are pretty much the best I've seen for significantly reducing z-fighting. This is just one of those things that users are going to have to decide for themselves which is more annoying. I personally have learned to play in a way to avoid clipping most of the time and can accept the occasional clipping as I find z-fighting to be far more distracting. But, I also spent the majority of my time outdoors. It would be good to add to the discussion on fNearDistance and add some images to the guide to demonstrate the issue particularly with different values.
  21. Just judging from the screenshots, I like it. Still have a dirty appearance to them, and they don't look like super models that bath in Noxzema.
  22. Skimmed through the guide, and I agree with it's current layout. Only thing that is wrong is the sentence on shadows. Shadows are absolutely rendered by the GPU. The problem is the use of DirectX9 which is notoriously CPU intensive, due largely to the fact that it's not MT safe, and requests are batched in threads that are executed consecutively. The GPU can't render a scene till all requests are processed. Both shadows and particle effects significantly add to the number of API calls that need to be processed and will spike CPU usage.
  23. Thanks for your hard work, it's much appreciated.
  24. You are correct. At this point in time it doesn't do much good to download it, and it has been removed from the STEP guide and the Wiki for the next version.
  25. I haven't marked Skyrim Unplugged as being unavailable, so there must have been a Nexus issue at the time. But as of now, Skyrim Unplugged is indeed broken due to a change in how Steam handles the Automatic Update setting. However, there is some potential good news that Steam has fixed the Automatic Updates setting as it hasn't reset for me after a client update. But, this means I have to wait till the next Skyrim patch is released to know for sure if the problem still exists, or if SU can finally retire.
